Does one need two sets of biometrics, one for I-485 and another for I-765? We have our appointment for I-485 on Friday but just received the NOA for I-765 two days.

biometrics are also required for the 765. when you have them done you can probably request they do the biometrics for both. good luck!

For the green card, they take all 10 prints. For the EAD, they take only a set of thumbprints (separately).

Yep, I-485 is a full 10 finger finger-printing, I-765 typically is one or two fingers.

 

Bring both letters to the earlier appointment and get them done at the same time.

How long after the biometrics are taken does one receive the EAD?

 

Also, if all 10 fingerprints are required for the GC, does that mean my step-son will not get his GC since only 2 prints were taken?

Based my Lao Po's Biometric appointment, I think they did both, as both documents were listed on the appointment letter.
