LeeFisher3
In it's usual infinite wisdom the USCIS sent my wife a letter today and apparently she isn't a spy. They included an a Welcome to the United State brochure along with a shiny new green card set to expire in July 2018. So next Wednesday when we head to Mexico we don't have to take the one year extension letter and explain what it is to Mexican immigration. As this has been such an exciting experience we have decided to not file an I-751 for our son. Instead we're going to spend $68 and get him a shiny new US Passport in a few weeks under the Child Citizenship Act, when he gets back from China after visiting his grandmother for the summer. When I told my wife that the USCIS had ordered the 10 year card she shook her head and told me she didn't need it. There are many people to thank, but most of all the USCIS for getting out of our lives for a long while. Link to comment

Tine & Ella
Congratulations Lee on wifes 10 year GC !!!! Did you adopt your step-son ? I think that is the only way a step-child would fall under the Child Citizenship ACT. Because one parent must be USC or be Naturalized Citizen. I don't think step-parent counts. Tine Link to comment

TineYep, I adopted my little emperor and he aquired citizenship on July 1, after us living together for 2 years. Now it's only a simple passport application away to have the official paperwork. Probably the only time I'd rather deal with DOS instead of USCIS. Link to comment
