Everyone knows beds in china are hard as rocks.

When you SO came to America, what happened?

I want to hear your stories.....did she convert to the soft American bed or did you end up sleeping on plywood ! :toot:

My wife slept on a rock hard piece of plywood in China. She always wondered why I had so much problems when trying to sleep in China. Then she moved to US. My mattress is firm, not soft but maybe mid-range just a bit softer than Chinese hotels. We went from my queen size mattress to a king size with about the same firmness/softness range. Afterwards, she took a business training trip/family vacation to China. She could not stand the plywood and had to buy a mattress for her two months in China. She will never go back to sleeping on plywood.

The more I read this topic, this must be a southern China problem because all the places I was in the north the mattress was good. Soft, plush, big, no problems.

Could be... In the south with hotter temperatures a piece of plywood and a 3" matress is the norm. In tropical climates I've slept in wicker beds. Leaves an interesting pattern on your back, but it's cool.

I was in Beijing and Baotou, every bed was hard. Never found a soft one...sleeping was very hard on me, Id wake up several times in the night.

We are on our 3rd bed since my wife came here. I used to sleep on a futon before she came here and deemed it too soft. we went shopping for a new mattress and after looking all day we found one she said would suffice. Finally she decided we needed a king size bed so I bought a Sealy, very firm mattress. In fact it was too hard for me so we bought a mattress pad to put on top. Now she sleeps like a baby. Of course it is relatively soft compared to the upholstered rocks you sleep on in China.

:P Now I have heard you guys talk about these. This is the first time I have seen one even in a pic. :( I couldn't do it! Some of you guys are brave or just so love crazy....I would retreat to a hotel, but then some of you said they are in hotels????? :o

I could sleep on it if there was a quilt or something on top of that thing. :) That wouldn't be much different than the carpeted floor I like sometimes.

Some talk about the skin being pinched. So really bare ass on that bamboo? What about making love? Seems like that would really really HURT somebody... and the knees-----whew. :o DANG!

The bamboo mats are cooler in hot weather. Without AC you would have to choose which is more uncomfortable.

ANY CUSHION ON THE COUCH? :o

Glad my wife didn't have one of those where I would have to make such a choice. dang that would mean we would be sleeping on one of those just like she wants dishes washed in cold water. Nooooo waaaay!
