Obtaining Visa after Interview

Recommended Posts

I am probably the only person who didn't know you could do this, but on the off chance that this information might help someone else, I will show my ignorance and make this post.

One of the pieces of paper that you will receive after your interview when you (your fiancee, if she takes care of it immediately on the 5th floor) pay for ems to deliver the visa(s) and passport(s) to the post office so you can pick them up in 2+ days gives the ems tracking number.

Ping logged on to the ems web site last evening and we saw that her and Cici's visa and passports were delivered to the post office at 7:25 p.m. yesterday. Now we know that we should be able to pick them up today with no problem.

Can at least one person lie to me and say that you also didn't know this?

To quote Ed McMahon: "I did not know that." :D

Liar, you always know everything Dave (and I mean that as a compliment, not as a sarcastic remark).

But thanks for the help. ;)

:D

Honestly, I didn't know about that little tidbit. Wish I had. Would've saved a few apprehensive hours waiting to see if the visa was actually at China Post. I don't remember reading that anywhere here before either. I'd be surprised if anyone else realized that option was available. I'm sure someone else will come along and make a liar out of me now for sure. ;)

We could not read our numbers so we could not check. Our host at the hotel Mr ???? (not sure the one very close to consulate) told us.

thats some good info for sure. is there some way to tell if the actual visas are delivered and not the surprise blue slip?

Normally, you have already heard the results, but in our case a delay was what we found in our mail. They wanted us to come back and do a full fingerprint set.

When you said "............. pay for ems to deliver the visa(s) and passport(s) to the post office so you can pick them up in 2+ days gives the ems tracking number.", did you mean that our fiancees could pick up their visas and passports that their local post office, instead of waiting in GUZ for extra 2 days? I have heard that GUZ could not allow the visa go any post office, except the designated one in Guangzhou.

I was under the impression that you had the option of having it mailed home, considering Im only being given a week off to go to the interview Im not sure which idea would be better. Not much time to do an interview and wait for a visa + go back to Jiangsu and pack!

It's usually picked up two days later at a post office in the Guangdong province, although it has taken (rarely) as long as a week.

I think you can only have it mailed within Guangdong. All other locations must pick it up at the local post office close to the consulate. So you must wait in Guangzhou and pick it up there.

Hmmmm, can we just assume the passport and visa are in there and not some blue piece of paper giving you another hoop to jump through? :P

Just kidding. BTW, no I didn't know that either. Congratulations!
