confusing message from usps......

Recommended Posts

hi,

i recently just filed my tax along with the W-7 form to the Austin, TX address it provides on the W-7 From...sent it certified from the United States Postal Office...right before the april 15th deadline......i didn't even bother tracking it......thought by now, they should have received it..you know..cos it's been 5 days...then i went to track it online...and this message came up" Arrival at Pick-up-point, ready to be picked up since April 16th..." and that message stays there for a few days with no further update...so...nobody picks up my mail from IRS Itin operation?....weird...and i try to call USPS....it seems they only have auto answering service......anybody even gotten that weird message from Usps?...what exactly does it mean " Arrival at Pick-up-point at the processing center in austin, tX 73301 on April 16th 3pm..ready to be picked up"....it's been three days since 16th.....are they so busy, they nobody even bothers to pick it up?.....does anybody know what number to call to find out if the IRS ITIN operation got my mail and my tax return......any help will be appreciated..thank you...

The Austin office is a regional tax return processing center - they are busy processing returns.

so what do u say, Randy?...shouldn't worry about it?...give them sometime...i totally understand that they might be busy processing tax return..the processing part..i truely understand.....i just want to make sure they got my mail ..that's all....i mean, usually..when you send something certified...you wanna make sure the receipient got it....so you don't have to worry about it.....and when it's done..the tracking system should have said " delivered" ....not like keeping people hanging ...just realized that Usps 's tracking and confriming system is worthless....i hope they got it...otherwise, i would have to file again....how would i even know if they get it...if that stupid message stays there forever and with no updates.....any suggestions what to do?....thanks

Yeah - I can't help you with the tracking, because I've never tried it. Just 1 or 2 stamps, and that's it.

They are about the most seasonal business in the US, and hire on a LOT of extra employees for the tax season. I doubt that includes someone to answer the phone.

It'll get taken care of - I have yet to hear of anyone's return being lost in the mail.

I keep thinking there's 2 addresses for 'that' office -

One for regular mail, and one for 'trackable deliveries', like UPS, DHL, Fedex.

The only 'thing' that matters is the postmark date from your 'receiving' postal center - the first post office that touched the mail.

If you got it in before the April 15th deadline, all is good.

Still, I remember something about which address to use, it's bothering me know, and I don't know why <_<
