6. Called my immigration attorney and they said "Oh, you have to get another number to enter in. It has to start with a CHI or something since your bride is in China. (Not what the notice says or what the automated system asks for)

Maybe your immigration attorny has not had much experience with China. Your number will start with GUZ, not "CHI or something".

Better keep a close eye on him if he is helping you with the P3 and P4 paperwork, thus far he has let you down 2 times. B)

I dont think theres many immigration lawyers in the usa that have a clue about china, I would NOT let them take a lead in this, in any way. I completly gave up on mine with a big smile once she said now GUZ has it they will open your provisional file, and interview should be about 1 month. Nearly chocked on my cheetos when she said that :)

It should be GUZ2007######

I'll go 1 number further. GUZ20076. :romantic:

Mike, I¡¯ll raise you 2. Based on authoritative information, it will be: GUZ 20078xxxxx. :)

Or, maybe, depending on when it was or is opened at the NVC, it could even be: GUZ 20080xxxxx. ?? :bangin:

I hope you all understand, that once Lao Po is here in the US, I will not have time to engage in any more of this speculative shi- !! B)

2008? You gonna make him do it over? B)

I am basing it on the NVC year starting new numbers October 1. If they really do start each year at 500, then I will stick with 6, being that 100 days have passed since the new date. He is nearly out of the teens now, so if he pops in the next 10 days, lets go with....

GUZ200762. :)

But of course that is based on my old man memory being correct of the number system. :P

Well fellows I did win $7.00 on the Illinois Lotto, so my powers of wisdom are in great form!! ;)

The part about 500 is not right, I am GUZ20077XXXXX!!

The 2008 part may be right, but it depends on how they logged in him electronically!! ;)

And my GUZ number, generated in early December, is: GUZ 20078

As to the switch over in year code, I guess it depends on if they go by calendar year or federal F.Y. ?? My guess is calendar year. ;)

I knew it was a 500 number or something like that. Here is the official way it is determined:

Case Number: The National Visa Center (NVC) gives each immigrant petition a case number. This number has three letters followed by ten digits (numbers). The three letters are an abbreviation for the overseas embassy or consulate that will process the immigrant visa case (for example, GUZ for Guangzhou, CDJ for Ciudad Juarez).

The digits tell us exactly when NVC created the case. For example a case with the number MNL2001747003 would be a case assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Manila. 2001 is the year in which NVC received the case from the USCIS (formerly INS). The Julian date is 747 plus 500, so this case was created on September 4, 2001, the 247th day of the year. The 003 shows that it was the third case created for Manila on that day. This case number is not the same as the USCIS receipt number, which is written on the Notice of Action, Form I-797, from the USCIS. A consular section abroad cannot find a case if all you have is the USCIS receipt number.

Thanks for the clarifications and feedback. Its just that I'm getting impatient again. Glad the folks in here are so kind and reassuring. I got that GUZ2008... number today and then I sat down and prayed about this whole thing. Praying helped calm my mind about the coming months of waiting. My bride is worth every stinking minute of the waiting.

Sometimes my attorney gives me a "deer in the headlights" look and since I'm a professional salesperson, I see he's just as baffled as I am about the whole process. I was suckered in because he is from Harbin, worked for DOJ for 12 years, specializes in immigration. At this point, I guess I'm just getting an expensive translation service. I think I should give him a tip and send him to CFL to do his homework.

Thanks guys.

Mark,

Thanks for the support.

Just got off a PC to PC call to my Lao Po, she bouncing off the walls and very happy right now. We both have been waiting patiently for this time to come for a long time now.

As for the P3 and P4, this is already completed (except for the Med. exam and Vac. shots), the doucments just need her signature, this could save us about 2 weeks in processing and turnaround time.
