is only my opinion....just i will say, sometimes miracles have been known to happen...many of us are now like the pig that the snake swallowed...and it is being digested verrrrry slowly.....i would not set a date for the wedding as yet...make plans for how to do the wedding is fine, but as for setting a date, i think is best to wait until you get the visa...you never know what curve ball guang zhou is going to throw at you....read, ask questions and learn all you can here..cfl is the best resource you will find for getting your lady here....great bunch of people with (i think) all the answers....best of luck...steve

 

 

I am forever hoping for an April miracle !!!

 

I am so black and blue, from kicking myself, for not getting my I-130 and I-129F, off earlier in the year. However, I did not foresee, on my crystal ball, the delay due to so many trying to beat the fee increase in July !!!

 

Hongxia and I are also so happy now, that we went ahead and decided to get married in China; her family is appreciative of that too.

 

I will most likely wait until a week or two before the interview, to return to Guangzhou. As much as I miss my woman, we cannot endure another goodbye at the Baiyun airport !!!

 

BTW, Steve, it looks like our NVC to GUZ date is identical and most likely our files in the same shipping box, in the warehouse, at GUZ !!?? B)

I can not stress enough the importance of having time off together once she arrives. You are wise to save as much time off as you can. 2 weeks is nothing, 1 month in not nearly enough to even start the acclimation process. 3 months would be ideal, but unfortunalty not realistic in most working situations. 6 months you could get most things done and should be used to each other by then. Remember this will be the first time really living together as a family, not just vacationing together.

Our I-129F was received by the California Service Center on October 18, 2007. No further word from them as of yet.

 

We are shooting for an August 8, 2008 wedding in the U.S.

Your I-129F NOA1 date is almost a year to the date from ours. We had our interview on July 5. However, I think USCIS processing times have increased substantially since then. Ha Ha. It just came to me! You want to marry on 8/8/8! A very lucky day by Chinese standards. It's possible, but not likely I think. You should have a better idea once you get your NOA2. I think the GUZ timeline is relatively the same as when we went through the process. You should be able to more accurately measure it then.

You missed the point, and yes there is a BIG difference. She will not know a single thing, from where to go, how to use things in the home safely, etc...

 

Same as when you went to China the first time, you were almost totaly dependent upon her to guide you and keep you safe, warm and secure. After 1 week in China, would you be able to get around and take care of all you needed to do alone if she was off at work 9-12 hours each day?

I have taken on the responsibility of helping him with his paperwork (dh and I adopted a child 2 years ago, so I know about mt. paperwork..lol). Had a question for you all. Since he is marrying her in April, is it better to wait till they marry then send off the I-130 packet, or should he just start with the I-129F packet? I am fairly certain I have all the forms that he will need, just unsure of the best route to take. Thanks for your help.

My NOA-1 arrived in late August...and I am approaching 170 days with no word of an NOA-2.

 

I called at around 120 days and the woman on the phone told me that they no longer send NOA-2s.

 

Long story short, I think the game has changed, but I do not know how.

If he submits the 129-F, they should NOT get married. It will only delay the process. The quickest way from your description of the situation is to submit the 129-F paperwork ASAP, then wait until she arrives in the USA to get married. If they marry after the 129-F paperwork is submitted, they will need to start all over again.

Not sure who you spoke to, but NOA-2 is USCIS approval of petition, it is needed for petition to advance further to DOS.

USCIS decided to increase fees and not to be prepared and therefore created a massive delay in processing times ( to which they do not apologize) Their processing times are about double now, its the 2007 "black hole"

You should get NOA-2 very soon, feel your pain, good luck

Hi, Sorry, I forgot a key piece of information. They have chosen to marry now rather than later due to her son being 17 yrs. old. They wanted to marry before his 18th birthday. I was not sure if he could file the I-129F now... but thank you for clarification on that. He will wait until after the marriage and then file his I-130. Thank you for your help.

You need that NOA2 in order tp proceed to NVC, and then to the promised land!!
