Rice Cooker

Recommended Posts

I didn't know where else to post this. My SO brought a very good rice cooker with her from China. The problem is -- it's 220v. I've been to several stores to see if it can be converted to 110. Yes, I can find an adapter for the plug, but the cooker still wants 220v. Looks like I'll have to buy a new rice cooker. <_<

Ron, you need a transformer from 220v to 110v

Make sure the HZ is transformed from 60 to 50.

Or install a 220 volt 15a outlet for it and replace the plug with one that matches the new outlet, we did to install a heater bought in the UK as well as a fancy microwave oven that uses 220v. This requires an electrician to install a 220v breaker, and a dedicated line to where you want the appliance.

Or buy a new cooker that works on 110, we have an Aroma Rice cooker model ARC-840

Not necessary for a rice cooker. Wattage is wattage at any frequency, and that is what generates the heat.

damn that sucks, we have forgotten a couple times when making plans on bringing this or that for her mom...i sent a wireless router to china for her dad to run his laptop off of.

instead of going out and buying something to accomidate the chinese rice cooker, just go out and buy a new 110 rice cooker here in the states.

cause if you get the new outlet with the new breakers hooked up to your power box....

so on and so forth you might end up burning the thing after all...

let her pick it out <_<

It will probably cost you much much more to run a 220 circuit for this rice cooker than it would to purchase a new 110 unit. Definitely not worth the trouble or expense.

Thanks everyone.

Getting a second Chinese woman is not an option at this time. I think I will buy a new rice cooker. I had an old one but she didn't like it. Damn, life is full of problems. :D
