Rakkasan
Here is a question for those who are residing in the US with their fiance'/ wife. While in China I noticed women using umbrellas to shield themselves from the sun even while riding in cars. Does your fiance' / wife still use an umbrella to shield herself from the sun now that she is in the US or has she become accustomed to using sunscreen and getting a tan? We seem to have a rather large number of members from California and Florida, I wonder if living in an area where sun and fun are the norm makes a difference. Then of course there is the whole Texas contingent living in a hot spot without much shade and very little in the way of cool breezes. Link to comment
Randy W
Jiaying got a lot of attention once when she used hers to go outside and wash her car in the rain (didn't need the hose that way). But other than that, no, she doesn't use it anymore. Link to comment
Dennis143
On our weekly hikes and outings, I am usually surrounded by half dozen to a dozen Chinese women who are using umberella, hats and welding helmets, uh, tinted full-face shields. Here in the hood, you'll see Chinese women driving around wearing those tented face shields. No, umberellas aren't as common here, as in China. But, the sun is still their enemy and they'll avoid it at all costs, if they can. They highly admire my very white legs when I'm wearing shorts. Link to comment
david_dawei
umbrella season has begun... we raised our 'red' flag in yesterday's walk... Link to comment
lou
I'm dealing with that right now. My wife just uses a hat or visor forher head but the last couple of weeks have been really nice here andshe will only wear long sleeves because of the sun. She likes the tan look but worries about her skin. It's our 1st summer together so we just have to see how it plays out.She knows about sun screen but only time will tell if she uses it. warpedbored
My wife will wear a sun hat and long sleeves while gardening but that's about it. She doesn't worry about the sun overly much. Link to comment

My wife doesn't care and she now is pretty dark because she loves to spend hours in the garden The Step daughter is 19 and avoids the Sun -she also uses a face whitener - it seems to work and she does look nicer with the pale white skin Link to comment

Cerberus
Yin uses both umbrella and SPF 45 subblock like Tonado's wife. I know that he is further north than I am. Best option she likes is to AVOID the sun altogether. IMHO, why a person goes to this extent to protect themselves for the sake of beauty is an ongoing eternal question, that American laowei's probably won't ever be able to explain. Link to comment
david_dawei
My wife says that for the sake of some free vitamin D from the sun.. she'll at least allow some sun to hit her feet Link to comment
