  1. Thanks Randy and Dennis, I'll give her a hug for everyone!
  2. Well she had the inteview on the 10th and passed! Got there at 9 and we were out by 1 including the oath ceremony, not too bad. It did get interesting though, we waited around 1 hr. before she was called. I think there were 6 interviewers that day, Guichun commented that when they were calling the next person in over the PA system, that they all speak very slow and very clear! Except one man who had a very heavy accent. Not for me mind you, I understood him fine,my wife had no idea what he was saying everytime he was at the window . So, I KNOW what is going to happen, and I just smile. She wants to know why I'm smiling, and I just tell her to relax. Sure enough, the man with the accent calls her name and she didn't even hear it! When I give her a nudge to tell her, the jaw drops and the fun starts. She's in there twice as long as everyone else so now I'm getting nervous! Turned out ok, They talked for a bit, went over the paperwork, she's still too nervous and can't relax! 1st civics question, she takes a guess because she couldn't understand him, she got it wrong. After that, I think my wife had control. Told him to slow down and made him repeat every other question about 3 times till she could understand, then she got 6 in a row. My wife didn't even know she passed, the interviewer gave her a hard time with her signature on her passport photos, made her do it 3 times, and also on other documents. Then gave her a BIG hug and congratulations at the end. Talking about it afterword, she said he was one of the most serious but had the most patience of anyone she as ever seen
  3. Well, seems my wife found all of the documents! After 2 weeks of "You lost them!" all I could do is smile . Then we both had a good laugh. Her interview is tomorrow, Any last minute advice? We have all the paperwork and she knows the questions inside and out. I'm just not sure what to expect tomorrow, I think I'm more nervous then she is at this point.
  4. Thank you! I can rest better now. do you think I should call USCIS or just go to the interview?
  5. First off, hope all are doing well! Haven't been on the site for a while, me working days and Guichun working nights with now a 4 year old, computer time is rare. This is life! To make a long story short, we filed Guichun's N-400 in Jan. Interview set for 4-10-12. Back in Jan. took our passports, red books and her permanent res. card to work to copy for the app. took everything back home, Guichun keeps her passport and card separate because of her travels and she has them right where she keeps them. We can't seem to find my passport or the marrage books! I don't care about my passport, I'm worried about the marrage books! We have many copies certified in Chinese and English and I want to know if they will accept them when we go to the interview. As always, Thanks again!!
  6. How much time after you activated it?
  7. For those of you that have Italk, anyone using Italk freedom? It lets you bind 2 cell numbers to your account. I added it when my wife left and I can't get the darn thing to work. 1st time I contacted them they told me it could take up to 24 hrs. no go. Then they re-entered the number for me and said to wait another 2 hr.s, again, no go. Then they said to wait another 24 hrs. again, no go. They sent it to the tech. dept. now I'm waiting for a call.
  8. Well as it turns out, they didn't makeup enough time after all and she missed her connecting flight. Airline hooked her up with transportation and a hotel room for the night so she wasn't that mad!
  9. I guess you guys are right about pushing the throttle a bit. It went from a 68 minute delay when the flight left to a 32 min. delay 5 hrs. in
  10. Just got off the phone with them, they know about the delay and said the plane would be held for a bit if needed because it's their connecting flight. We will see.
  11. Quick question for you guys, my wife just left today for her one month stay in Nanning. JFK to Beijing, 2 hour wait, then Beijing to Nanning. Only problem is her flight out of JFK was delayed a little over an hour. Is 50 minutes enough time to make her connecting flight??? It's the same airline, Air China, for the connecting flight and the same terminal. Anyone want to put my mind at ease
  12. My wife came on Air China. GUZ-PEK_JFK. She said they were pretty good. You can also check reviews by passengers. Thanks, will do
  13. Just wondering if anyone has experience flying Air China. Booking a trip back for Guichun next month and I always stick with Continental but she found a better deal out of JFK with Air China. I'm just not sure how they are with international flights.
  14. Just seen this and it caught me by surprise, we've been using them for awhile with no problems. Having the money deposited right into my wife's bank account was a very convenient way to pay off our mortgage. Only used WU a few times awhile back, can you send directly to a bank account with them? My wife would never trust her family to deposit money in the bank for her, and she has good reason for that .

    Guichun's new job

Thanks Randy! The small cakes were easy but when she took on the ballpark I was scared. She asked her co-workers to help but they told her no way, too hard. I Just printed out a few photos of ballparks and she went to town. I wish I could take photos like you, mine didn't do the cake justice.

  18. Ok, Guichun has been working at our local A&P in the bakery dept. going on 4 years now, minus the year off for the birth of Jenna . Very hard job, most people want to work in that dept. because they get the most hours but very few last too long. They have one girl who is in charge of cake decorating, cakes for the store and special orders. The last few months were busy and Guichun was able to help her out, she just took to it. Manager was very impressed and told her to take some classes, she did . Starting in Jan. she's in charge of cake decorating, the other girl is leaving, so more money and better hours for Guichun! She's been making cakes for family and friends for a bit now but I guess I'm posting because I'm just so damn proud of her, everyone at work seen her work and over the last month she made 3 cakes for my co-workers and made some nice money on the side. 1st one, just a spring theme. http://i48.tinypic.com/5oytxt.jpg Next one for a birthday, They just wanted a gift box. http://i46.tinypic.com/281g6eb.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/3166pgi.jpg Co-worker renewing their wedding vows, again very small. Ok, this last one blows my mind. Co-worker is having a sweet 16 party for her daughter, wants a baseball theme, checked with a lot of shops and for a regular cake with some baseball decorations on top for 120 people the cost would be about 500.00. Asks me if my wife can help, she says no problem I told her to be very careful because this was a big party and there would be no time for my co-worker to run to the bakery if it could not be done. What does my wife do? she builds a ballpark! Posting them next! Not able to post all the photos in one post so I'll do them next
  19. I could be wrong and hell, it wouldn't be the 1st time! I don't think Jin was waiting for an answer to a puzzle where you could save everyone, just an honest answer if you were ever in that situation. Everyone will do something different, I don't think there is a wrong answer.
  20. Wrong answer , your the only one that can swim. . Couldn't they use my dead, stinking, bloated body as a raft?
  21. Wrong answer , your the only one that can swim. .
  22. I'm sorry, I was just trying to be honest , would love to hear your answer
  23. Only in a true life situation, you would know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tend to agree, I'm sitting here now playing with my two year old while her mom is working. I thought about it and I have no idea what I would do if the situation were to happen. I hear from many of my customers that they split the family when taking airplanes on vacation, mom and son on one plane and dad and daughter on the next, or vice-versa. The thinking is to preserve the family in case of a catastrophic event. My thinking regarding the airplane scenario, I would rather have us all go down together. I couldn't live without them in my life. Again, don't know what I would do about the 1st question. Maybe we would all go down together, I just don't know.
  24. "no ifs, ands or buts" ! My wife was the same way. We thought long and hard about her going back to China for the birth of our daughter because she was VERY concerned about this and it was impossible to get any of her family here. I thank my mom for understanding traditions , we stayed by her for the 1st month and she did almost everything. Without her we never would have made it.
  25. We've been using "xoom" for the last few months to wire money into my wife's bank for our mortgage payments. The fees are cheap, you can wire up to $2,999.99 a month (6,000.00 if you provide more info) for $4.99 for a direct bank transfer or $9.99 for a cash pickup. First time was a pain in the butt because they need to verify her address and phone number in China wiith a phone call. Since she lives here, it took a couple of calls to customer support to get it sorted out. I find it most convenient, it's all done from my computer and the funds are usually in her bank the next day.
