What does SO mean

I am seeing the acronym SO all over the place on this forum and don't know what it means. Please enlighten me on its meaning.

Welcome to the world of NET posting. Some of the lingo still gets me.

 

What gets me most is when the acronym is not in caps, then I am sometimes left wondering, SO is easily confused for "so" the English word.

I used to think all the acronyms were sort of like learning to read Chinese, sorta-kinda, but in time you will get it all sorted out.

Thanks again. Not real new to this wide world of the internet just never heard the term SO until I joined this site so I can learn what trouble I got myself into.

 

I've played with computers on and off since the 80's. Started out on a Trash 80 (Radio Shack TRS-80). Owned a Commodore 128 and just about one of every model Intel (IBM clone). Now I only use AMD powered CPU machines.

unless you are Mikey....then it is Sex Object

 

In either case, SO is gender neutral. Actually, species neutral.
