TAIZHOU, China: With sales soaring for cars of every size and shape, China will pass Japan as the second-largest vehicle market this year, after the United States. But the Chinese market still may not be big enough to support all the homegrown manufacturers as well as the foreign automakers trying to do business here.

There was a joke yesterday about some domestically made cars:

"The front resembles a Mercedes and rear BMW but drives like a Soviet made tractor".

 

It may be a bit... well you know. I am buying a Honda CR-V made in China. I am concerned about the quality but wife wants it. Personally I would rather get an imported car. I am sure in a couple of years the Chinese auto industry will catch up.
