DS-230 for CR1/CR2

I just received IV Bill for my wife and step daughter. On the bill it states that NVC will send DS-230 Part I and I should only use the original DS-230 and to not use downloaded computer forms. I have been using fillable PDF forms all along and I see on previous posts where some people have used a PDF DS-230 for the K3. Any thoughts on using the fillable PDF form for the CR1/CR2 DS-230?

 

Also question 12 on the DS-230 asks present occupation, my wife was a Kindergarten teacher until after we got married when she quit in order to go to school to learn english. Should I list her current occupation as "Kindergarten Teacher" or "Student" ?

 

And finally, how have other CR1's been handling the SO signature requirement for DS-230? Express mailing the package to wife to sign and then express mail back or is there a better/faster way?

I just sent my wife the forms by Fed Ex to China and she will sign and send them back to me. (Took 4 days and cost $48.00 one way). I am using fillable forms. As far as the employment question, if she is not working right now then you can't say that she is. So just tell the the truth and write student.

I fax the forms that asked for my wifes signature and she would sign

and scan and and e-mail back to me or fax.

This was a lot faster than next day air mail to and from China

And on the DS-230 Question (#3) it ask for her

"name in native alphabet"

This is the second time I have filled out a DS-230

On the first one

I didn't send a copy of my wifes "passport" and they

NVC sent me a letter wanting a copy of the following.

Also

In big block letters they "NVC" said the sooner I answer them,

the faster they could forward overseas for review.

 

(1) both my and her's passport.

(2) a copy of my lastest banking statement.

"PERSONAL and BUSSINESS"

both bank statements was only 1 month old and NVC said

that would be fine. They didnt want printed bank statements off the net

and dont black out your banking acct. numbers

"i did that the first time on the DS-230" wasn't to happy to have the US Government see all my acct numbers"

(3) and a copy of all divorce cetificates for my lao po.

"english and chinese"

 

also please remember to put her name and GUZ# on top right of each page

That was for a CR1.

 

I guess next they will send me a letter asking if im cut or uncut and

how many farm animals I have.

The US government knows the social security number of each bank account holder in the USA. You can't keep such things a secret. However, unless your income was insufficient to meet the support requirements, the information on other assets was "optional". The instructions clearly indicate other assets "may be used" by the sponsor.

 

Since you listed these assets, you can't just turn around and try to hide information on the supporting documents.

Thanks everybody for the input - I like the idea of SO signing a scanned copy of the DS-230 and then scanning and emailing it back, but will NVC accept a scanned copy of her signature? I have another question about my stepdaughter, but I will start a new topic.
