tonado
All, I am tryng to help a friend. She received her aliencard (with conditional residential status) almost twoyears ago (Jan 2001). She came by K1 visa. In Jan2002, she filed I751 and received the NOA that said"Your alien card is extended 1 year-employment &travel authorized. Processing Your form will requirea minimun of 30 days. If you have not heard from uswithin 12 months, then may contact this office." Heralien card will expire next month. She tried to callthe number to VSC but never get thru. Should she tryto write to them? What is the best approach? Sheworried that she had to go back to China if her cardis not extended. Thanks advance for any suggestion. -- Tony Link to comment
Charlotte
No action necessary. She needs to have that letter from NVC with her green card all the time when she applies for employment. They are delayed in process, but she does not need to leave the country. I was there once myself. Charlotte Link to comment

rsun
Just curious, if her Green Card expires in January 2003, how come she applied in January 2002 to get the restriction lifted? I thought you were supposed to do this 90 days before the Green Card expires? What made her apply to early? Link to comment
tonado
Richard, This email is from my friend. See if you can help. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for your help! Here's is our situation. We had an interview on 1/25/2000 for conditional green card and reviewed the green card on 3/27/2000. It was good until 2/25/2002. So we filed I751 to lift conditional status on 1/16/2002 and got back a receipt on 1/26/2002 which says that the conditional green card is extended for a year. It mentions that we should contact their office if we don't hear back in a year. So, we've been calling their office but it is always busy. We called on Sunday (yesterday) as suggested by Tony and were able to talk to the automated system. But, it said that our record couldn't be located and asked us to call during normal office hours. We are wondering it is helpful to make a run to the local office in Boston. Also, what will happen if our application has been misplaced. Thanks,William-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link to comment
rsun
From reading the regulations, that my wife and got with the I-130 packet, it says that you can't apply to remove the 2 year condition until 3 months befores before it expires, I wonder if you're friend applied to early and that's why it's in a little mess right now?
