sailorboy
I sent a email inquiry to GUZ asking for a time when my wife could expect the P4 packet and a Interview date. This was their response the following day: Dear Mr. Howard, Thank you for your email. Your wife may expect to receive the appointmentpacket in three months. Best regards, Immigrant Visa Unit A couple of questions here... Her second namecheck was completed on 7/17. So is this just a canned response. We have been thinking she would get the P4 in September sometime. What am I missing here? I read the response and now I am left with the notion that she will get the P4 sometime in November and then an Interview date 2-3 months after that. Something doesn't seem right here. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Dave Link to comment

You're right it is a canned response Link to comment

From all that I have been reading, my only concern really has been how much my K3 visa time at the consulate has helped my CR1 case. They done the P3 and the second name check, I would think it's a cake walk to the P4 and an interview in November perhaps. What do you think? Dave Link to comment

Dave149810[/snapback]it appears that around 8 months from NOA-2 to interview is pretty normal now days. K-3 and CR-1 can be a tie but K-3 is usually a little faster. Link to comment
cosmiclobster
Well, I for one am pulling for ya!How's it going, Dave? There have been several cases of GZ saying months only to send the P4 a week or two later!I think you are a perfect candidate for a call to Rep. Lois Capps office. You have 2 processes going, both of them about a year long. I have a feeling that within a week of you contacting her, you will hear news from GZ. I say this because it happened to me twice!Take this linkRepresentative Lois Capps Here is a quote from the page!"One of my most important duties as your Member of Congress is to assist with problems you may have with Federal agencies." wulongtea
From our experience, back in June we received simiar canned responses from the consulate that our interview would be sometime in October or November. But our interview is in the begining of Sept.! I guess they just don't want to raise your expetations too high. Link to comment
Mengxin
I've been "In que" for an interview date since 7/1. http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/images/smilies/rant.gifMy wife was sending e-mail every other week asking for status, they basically came across to her like it was her fault for the delay because she sent them e-mail. I told her to stop because DOS will be able to tell us when our interview date is before GZ will. The folks at DOS have always seemed nice to me. Don't expect GZ to be accoutable for anything. They aren't and don't care to be. Hiding behind there no names. Edited August 25, 2005 by Mengxin (see edit history) Link to comment
tex99
I hope Carl and Lobster are right about GZ padding the estimates. My fiancée emailed them this week, mentioned she heard they were getting faster, and got this response today: “Based on our current schedule, it appears your interview will occur in about 3-4 months.” We sent back the P3 May 29th and are hoping for a late September/ early October P4 and then an early November interview. Question for Mengxin: What number are you calling at DOS? Link to comment
BuffaloPaul
We were getting the "3 or 4 month" canned responses 3 days before we got the interview date. My SO thought we Americans were so rude to send out such automated responses. Wait until the next batch of P4 flies before worrying Link to comment
pkfops
Just a quick note about GZ. It seems they may be working OT these days. I sent an email asking if it was OK to use a downloaded formthat was missing in our P4 from DOS. They said it was OK. I noticed the email was sent out on a Saturday, GZ time. Link to comment

Heard you were house-hunting with that new job of yours....Good Luck!! I'll wait a week or two maybe then see what shakes out. I got pretty beaten up with CSC so I think things are heading in the right direction. Thanks again. Dave Link to comment

Apparently, GUZ logs your email inquiries so when I called DOS today, she told me I had received a response back from GUZ (the canned response) and so she sorta gave me the same crapola and that was the end of it. I agree, DOS is more helpful depending on which Visa Specialist you get (just like NVC was). Thanks for you help. Dave Link to comment
