weather and travel into Guangzhou?

Does anyone have any updates on weather and travel into GZ? Liwen is on a train now going there. I just read in the China Daily that the train line is down from mudslides and the airport has lots of stranded travelers. She was going there first before we meet to get the medical exam done tomorrow. Then she will meet me in Shenzhen on Saturday night. The interview is next Tuesday. I am worried that she may have a difficult time getting to GZ, so any late breaking news about travel to there would be appreciated.

It got better today. Not sure about tomorrow. These days we had storms, but I don't think it will be a very big problem if she travels by train.

Having just flown out yesterday, GZ seems fine. The city has had some flooding, but it seemed more of a big deal for the westerners than the locals.

Take your umbrella and leave you coat at home.

 

Summer is hot and wet.

 

If flying, be ready for delays as the planes will wait for

the Thunder Storms to pass before Take Off or Landing.

 

Increase you connection time to 4 or 5 hours.

Have her check with the train station or a travel agent. My SO tried yesterday to buy a train ticket from Shenzhen to Jilin for Monday, and they told her there was flooding and try back later. She bought a plane ticket, but still wants to return by train if she can.

Shenzhen to Guangzhou should be ok by train or bus, but it rained really hard all night, and as of 8:00am in SZ, it hasn't stopped yet.
