  1. I had to file an expedited request on the basis of emergency yesterday with the USCIS Customer Service Center. My petition for my step son was filed on Feb 27 with the Texas Service Center and so far is still in processing. My concern is about his safety . His biological father has beaten him up before . Serious beating. Luckily he was able to escape and ran outside to ask help from neighbors. Otherwise, he could have been hospitalized . We are talking about serious beating on the head . He is 13 yo. From Sun - Fri he used to live in the school dorm and he went home to his grandma place on Fri and Sat night. His biological father has remarried and raised another boy - 10 yo . He doesn't want my step son, but , he wants the financial support that my wife has provided the grandma to take care of my step son. He likes to give pressure to the grandma to not host my step son . The issue is his explosive temper which really brings a major safety concern. My wife is in China now since early July until Sept because the kid is not in school. We are concerned that if his grandma doesn't want to take care of him during this time, he has no choice but to be with his father. This can bring a major safety concern. I don't know how low life this man can be. He wants money out of people who takes care of his son. Otherwise, his temper may flare and he doesn't hesitate to do beating to his son. In China, domestic matter is not seriously addressed unless it involves a foreigner. He saw my wife and me as a source of money if he can extract , instead of being thankful that someone wants to accept his son and brings him to the United States to enroll in school and be a good person. Just recently, his current wife saw my wife and her son in the shopping area , it really made them very upset. He immediately called his son to harass him. He really wants his son to leave town to go the US but he believes his son will later beg to come back to China. While in China , he wants his son to live with him and his new family but with my wife supporting them with the living expense. What an absolute jerk ! The court custody agreement has been assigned to my wife and he also signed a notarized document that he agrees for his son to immigrate to the US with my wife expense.
  2. Well the infopass appointment was well worth the trip. Due to financial and medical reasons they transferred our case from CSC to our local office for processing. We now need to have an interview but should have the GC processed very soon.
  3. Hello everyone, It’s been over five months since I mailed out my K-1 application. Under the advice of my lawyer, about 3 months into the processing time, I submitted an expedite request based on an emergent situation. Two months have passed since my expedite request was received by the Vermont Service Center, and I have heard nothing back yet(not even a denial.) Furthermore, the last two times I called the NSC, they told me that normal processing time was 5 months. When I called again yesterday to find out the status of my expedite request, (which they still had no answer for), I was informed that the processing time was now 7 months. They were still working on Feb. 28th applications! I’m not sure what else I can do. My fiance and I really don’t want to needlessly wait 2 more months. Is it worth asking a senator for a letter at this point? Could a senator’s letter possibly annoy anyone at the service center and cause more harm than good? Some insight would be deeply appreciated. I don’t want to rock the boat if there is the risk of it tipping over.
  4. Jan. 7th, we were told that our case was sent to GUZ on Jan.5th. On Jan. 9th, we were told it was held for "Determination of Request for Expediting". Expediting was requested by DHS Ombudsman, with a Priority Date of Nov. 24. 2006. On Jan. 16th we were told the case was sent to GUZ with a Request for Expediting on Jan. 14th. Our case was never in the automated system. Does GUZ "EXPEDITE" cases? Will our case be handled differently? as in delivery to the Consulate? What kind of time frame could we be looking at? Who do we contact about the case now? DOS? How soon will we be able to contact GUZ about the case? The last email answer from GUZ said, "we have not received your case, we can not answer any questions, GUZ." I did send another PM to USCONGUZ, but no reply yet. The first reply took 30 days. Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  5. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried to expedite under the : "Extreme emergent situation" criteria that the USCIS put out: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0000ecd190aRCRD Without getting into details, has anyone dealt with death threats or government (communist) backlash against their SO?
