  1. hello my wife just arrived last wednesday with ir1 status! what should we do next for her? greencard? s/s card? how?
  2. Hello Everyone! Its been forever since I have posted on Candle. My wife got her citizenship and both her parents have come to America and both were approved for their green cards. Nicola's dad got his green card weeks later but her mom has been waiting forever! When we contacted them we got a letter saying they were printing her mom's green card and it could take up to six months! It also reaffirmed that her green card was approved. Anyone have experience with this? I hope everyone going through the difficult time of waiting for their wives to get a visa realize that in the end the wait is all worth it! Hope everyone is doing well!
  3. I need to see the boss in Calgary next month. Because there's a nice little China town there, I want to take the girls. I called the Canadian government and they said a USA green card would get the girls into Canada. ...but the person on the phone said the green card was good so quickly and off the cuff that I didn't feel confident in their answer. (I know...I know...but these are my girls I'm frettin' about so cut me some slack ) Does the answer that the green card gets them in ring true with you guys? Anyone travel recently to Canada with their wife? I don't want to get them all excited and then have to tell them they cannot come with me.
  4. Wife has received 2-year Green card in June. We plan to go on a road trip to Ontario Canada during this long weekend. What are needed in order to pass through Canadian Custom? and Will wife be able to return to US with just Green card? Just want to make sure before we actually go on this trip. Please advise. Thank you!
  5. I'm sure this has been asked before, but we decided on the spur of the moment to visit friends in Toronto over the long weekend, and I need a quick answer. Will Lily and our son have any trouble entering Canada or re-entering the U.S. with their Green Cards and chinese passports? Thanks
  6. I'm surprised I didn't see this issue crop up in my quick search here. So we filed the Removal of Conditions in March 2007. The latest NSC processing time is June 2006. So technically we shouldn't get a result on our case until Dec 2008 at the earliest. Problem is my wife's green card expired last May. So what can we do between May and December? We were planning to head back to China this summer for a while. Is that possible?
  7. Hi All... The wife and daughter are going back to China next month and see the family after a little over a year here going through the AOS process and finally getting their green card. Following are clips I got from searching about traveling back to China and am wondering if things are still the same...or anything changed? What DID catch my eye is the 'AOS STAMP' inside her passport...She has no such thing and wondering how does she get? lol...She set up the flight yesterday, couldn't sleep last night because she was so excited....
  8. Hey all, Juxin recently received the conditional permanent resident stamp thing (a.k.a. the temporary green card stamp) in the back of her Chinese passport. As such we thought it would be nice to drive up to Vancouver BC next weekend. There's no doubt that she will be able to get back into the US. But what about getting into Canada? Will they let her in? Does she have to apply for a Canadian tourist visa, or will they treat her as a "regular" permanent resident since she has the stamp in her Chinese passport? FYI, she also has her official State of Oregon DMV-issued identification card that shows her last name the same as mine. Can she get into Canada with that??
