  1. Dave, I just noticed your timeline. I also met my wife online on her Birthday!! And, we were married on mine.
  2. Thanks guys... I was getting down because of the long wait and holiday season and thought we were going to have to start again from the bottom. But, the way everyone is responding I'm feeling much better. Thanks again!! Dave, where are you guys in Florida? Does Jing like it there and do you feel there is a large enough Chinese community to make her feel comfortable? Thanks,
  3. Thanks for the reply. We have been waiting for more than 6 months (6 months, 4 days) so you should be soon. I am excited if NOA2 comes in a month.
  4. Questions, How do I now guage where we should be in the process though? How do I now know when I'm past the processing time in California? How long should I wait before calling someone? How long do you think it would be after being transferred that I'd hear about our case? Even though it sounds good it feels like a bigger black hole.
  5. I just received an email on our status: But I live in Florida. I used to live in California and my divorce was there. And this is after 6 months of waiting. Does this mean we need to start the wait over in another center? My heart just fell when I read this. Please, someone give me good news.
  6. Today is actually our 6 month anniversary from NOA1 with no response yet for NOA2.
  7. Yeah, I've seen my share of A-hole American men in China. Lie, Cheat, Misrepresent, etc. One guy I met in Shanghai I heard now he's beating his Philippine wife and cheating on her. Another guy calls Asia the "whore-i-ent" and is trying to mount as many Asian women as he can. Last I heard he was somewhere in Vietnam. idiots!
  8. I see, cool. Since I haven't heard anything from them we're still in Vermont I have deduced
  9. dnoblett, Was there a cut off date on the apps that went to CSC and do they notify you of the change? Thanks,
  10. Dec 13th will be 6 months from NOA1. I got a fortune cookie last month that said I will have big changes this month..... Come on fortune cookie!! Has anyone seen any movement from Vermont in the last 30 days? Thanks,
  11. yep, don't want to start a flame war but there's no way to edit the post. Anyway, I'm sure there's some good American women out there. Sorry gals.
  12. I use several methods (I'm not Chinese). IME NJStar And to write characters: Wacom Bamboo Tablet check that out. It's cool and works flawlessly. Also, if you have a PDA check out. Plecodict. http://www.pleco.com/
  13. Meelo, I've thought about moving to Shanghai to be with my wife but I was afraid of the "above poverty income" requirement. If I was in Shanghai I would not qualify for the income requirement. Can I ask how you are handling that while applying? Are you working in Shanghai? I know I could easily work teaching English but that still would be below the poverty level. Thanks Also, has the insurance rates gone down as a result of the reduction in cars being stolen?
  14. One of the big reasons I'm shying away from Phoenix is the high rate of auto thieft. As I understand it this has caused auto insurance rates to be high. Did you find this to be the case and if you're not still living in Phoenix, why did you move? Thanks,
  15. Yep, just put queries for Madison and got the same numbers 20k or more an acre. hmmm.. Maybe there's another way to search.
  16. I was just putting inquries on Realtor.com and that's what I came up with... I'll check out what you said.
  17. Amber, It seems land in Huntsville is rather on the expensive side. Are there areas around Huntsville that are more woodsy, where you can see the night sky and not be too expensive? Here in Florida land is around 15k an acre. As I search Huntsville it's double that or so. Thanks,
  18. oooh, I hate going through a Chiropractic office. In California you can't help falling over a Chinese Herb, Chinese medicine shop where the doctors are very approachable. In a Chiropractic office... well, keep it. Oh well... Can't have everything I guess.
  19. Well, that sounds cool about Huntsville but I looked for Acupuncture listings which is usually a good indicator of Chinese presence but found no "Chinese" shops. All seemed to be Chiropractic or ppl of the west practicing Acupuncture. Does Huntsville have a "China Town" area or is the Chinese population all spread out? Thanks,
  20. yeah, I'm not sure why I wrote there are fewer roads in OC but, the traffic on the freeways seem much less that in LA. That was my experience where I lived.
  21. I've seen bad on both sides (Christianity, Buddhism). I've been cornered by a Christian woman once, literally cornered and was told I would go to hell if I didn't follow her way. And, I've had Buddhist practioners show me pictures of half human, half animal and told me if I didn't follow their way I would be reincarnated like this (they suggested this would happen). This is what I call negative reinforcement. To scare someone down the path they follow. The problem here is "religion" is open to interpetation. Within Christianity there are those who believe their way is the only way. Mormons, JWs, Catholics, Baptists.. and the list goes on. I'm not sure if that way in the Buddhist circles or not but what it has gotten down to for me is energetics. Building spiritual energy and physical energy. Taking away all the rituals, mechanics, etc. For those interested, take a look at "Life and teachings of the Masters of the Far East" by Biard T Spalding. http://www.amazon.com/Life-Teaching-Master...t/dp/0875165389 While I don't subscribe to everything in these books I very much like the general idea. That we are all potential Buddhas or Jesuses through our own development and work.
