Thank you guys for your input! We just realized that our EAD has been issued for 3 weeks till now! We were given a letter saying that it could take 4 weeks. Just now we tried to do the e-verify slefcheck on the USCIS webiste as Dan suggested and it did not go through... We are having our fingers crossed that it would go through sooner ~

But I read some posts (dated back in earlier 2011 and earlier) on visajourney.com that some people did not get the SSN untill after more than 4 weeks because the process for SS to verify things with HSD is loooooong...if the situation is still like that I hope there is way to speed up the process....

Hi, did anyone there apply for a SSN with EAD? How long did it take? We did not apply for the SSN before the I -94 expired. Got EAD a bit more than 2 weeks ago and went to apply for the SSN. Got a letter with a reference number that they need to confirm things with USCIS, and that it could take 4 weeks. We are in urgent need of the SSN to buy insurance and for employment. Do you guys know anything we could do to speed up the process? Thanks a lot!

When is it? We had the interview on Dec 23 and passed!! Waiting for the passport to be sent back to us now~

Hi, We were wondering that when we should file the married name for the wife? Should we request it when we get married have it on our marriage certificate? Or we will have to do that after we get married with some other department? What is the procedure to do that? And, let say if the wife name is Ling Chen who married Tim Wilsons, do they just make the wife's married name in Ling Wilsons?? How does it work usually? Thank you very much!

I read that you guys mentioned about yellow book and 2 sealed envelopes, one of which is to be turned in for visa interview, and that the yellow book and the other sealed envelope is to be turned in later for AOS. But I just called the Health Care Center of Guangdong International Travel for the medical exam. They said they would do the vaccinations (4 shots) with the medical exam on the same day. The DS-3025 will be sealed in the envelope with the other papers which is to be turned in to the GZ consulate, and only a copy of the vaccination record will be given for us. Would we have any problems with this later for AOS? And by the way, would it be okay to get 4 shots in a day???? That sounds a lot!!! Thanks!!

Hi there - We found this great website when we were googling the regular wait time between packet 3 and interview. To our dismay, it could take up to 60 days before an interview could be scheduled! The problem we are facing is that the expiration date on our I-797(NOA2 for our K1 petition) is in less than 2 months, and we didn't get to send back the packet 3 to the GZ consulate till Nov 08. We are worried that if the interview could be conducted before our I-797 expires. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do? And do you know that how an expired I-797 would affect our case?
