  2. Congratulations to everyone who has been cleared and to the ones that will be cleared very soon. As I stated in an earlier post DOS is networked with all US Consulates worldwide. Once the DOS enters the data in their system it immeadietly becomes available to every pertinent Consulate. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. Bob M. Boston
  3. Hello Everyone, on Wednesday, December 11, 2002, oops my fiance Lili, received a notice via EMS from GZ saying that her Passport with her Visa, can be picked up on specific dates. The dates they gave her were 12/21/02 & 1/4/02. Lili, is from Shanghai, and I know there has been some talk of sending possibly one person from Shanghai, to pick up several Passports. However, if each letter gives specific dates to pick up your Visa, and they are not similar this may not be possible. Anyway that is what is going on with me. If all the logistics can be worked out Lili, and I would love to be included in this arrangement. To everyone still waiting I am keepimg my fingers crossed and you are all in my prayers. That cruise in January of 2004, sounds like a great idea to me. Don't worry I am going to still be posting for quite a while. I don't think any of us should dissapear for a long time. Bob M & Lili
  4. No one can explain why, how and/or what order the Visas are being given out. I can only hope and believe that they are trying to do things the best way they can. Whether we agree with them or not. Remember we are dealing with a rather large bureaucracy. Only logical thing I can come up with is that GZ is mailing out a lot of cleared fiances that had left Passports in GZ. I don't imagine they want these Passports lying around for fear of losing some of them. I mean after all, how many people had P3 & P4 packets lost? Anyway this is just my opinion. However, thinking logical may not be the best way to go, but that is all I have for now. Good Luck to everyone, at least we are FINALLY seeing some ACTUAL movement on these Visas. Bob M.
  5. Thank you I am glad you liked it. Have a great day, Bob M
  6. Hi Everyone, the Dragon is doing just what I tell her, nothing. Women never listen to us guys anyway so why bother,, tee hee!! Have a great day everybody, soon this SNAFU will be all straightened out and the DOS will be back on a normal track....... we hope!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Hello Everyone, Just wanted to let you all know, I just spoke with the US State Department a few minutes (10:00 a.m. EST) ago. I was told the final clearance for our K-1, from the US State Department in Washington DC came through on Friday, December 6, 2002. Same day as our article came out in the Boston Globe. Coincidence, I honestly don't know. However, they could not tell me how long until GZ would be notified. They did not seem to have a lot of information but still this is very good news. So Lili and I are on the last step in this process. I am hoping she will be here by the Chinese New Year, if not sooner. I will be e-mailing GZ to see if I can get some sort of time frame now. Just wanted to let you know the SD Officer was friendly and helpful to the best of her ability. Bob M. & Lili Boston & Shanghai
  8. It is my understanding women or men (fiances) who did not leave their Passport at the Consulate in GZ, will have to mail their Passport back to GZ by EMS after they get notified. For those who did leave their Passport GZ will be notifying these women or men it is being mailed to them by EMS. This information below was sent to me by GZ a few weeks ago. If you all remember when everything changed in August, we thought our fiances were going to have to make two trips to GZ. This would probably be a hardship for many, so they changed their thinking pretty quickly. My fiance (11/20/02) has left her Passport with the Consulate as I suspect many others have. This is exactly what I received from GZ on October 31, 2002. Hope this clears things up a little bit for everyone. -----Original Message----- From: GuangzhouIV [mailto:GuangzhouIV@state.gov] Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2002 3:49 AM To: 'Bob.Malovich@ci.boston.ma.us' Subject: Li, Li Li GUZ2002XXXXXX Dear Mr. Malovich, Sorry for the confusion. We will be able to mail visas to applicants when the response from the U.S. authorities comes instead of having them make a second trip to Guangzhou for their visas. That's why we scheduled Ms. Li for an interview on Nov 20, 2002. If approved, she should then expect further delay before her visa can be issued. When the time comes, we will send her a notice to pay the delivery fee via certain post offices and mail her visa by EMS. Immigrant Visa Unit Bob & Lili Boston & Shanghai
  9. There have been several comments both positive and negative, about the tone of this article that I would like to try and address. We Alan, Tony and I had tried to get the main focus of this article on the Visa Delay situation. However, the copy editor, not the reporter has the final say on just what goes into an article. No one wanted the term "Mail Order Bride" anywhere in this article. But obviously the copy editor thought this would generate more publicity. Which is after all, all the Boston Globe or any newspaper, is really interested in. However, I know I have taken an enormous amount of teasing from my friends and colleagues, as I am sure have Alan & Tony. The point being is that this article is in fact getting the word out, and questions are starting to be asked as to why are China and Russia, being treated differently from the rest of the US-Consulates, worldwide. I believe this is an extremely positive step. Now the general public is finally starting to ask why countries such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, countries known to harbor terrorists, are still getting thousands of Visas, with out the same security checks as China and Russia. Countries not know for harboring terrorists. As far as I know there have been very few of these articles published across this wonderful country. So I suggest some of you get more involved, start contacting your local newspapers and tell your story. Don't wait for someone else, get more involved in this process. I am trying to do everything and anything that will bring Lili here, ASAP. Tell them the Boston Globe has already addressed this issue, and it is time some other papers from across the country to also address this issue and try to let the US Government know we want answers on why terrorist countries are still getting visas and China and Russia, are still be held up at the Department of State??? This is just my personal opinion. Have a great day everyone. Bob M.
  10. Always try too remember what you have, not what you don't have!!!!!!! For those of you who may have forgotten. Even though we are all stressed out, we should take a little time to remember all the Veterans from all the wars. Because of their sacrifices we are able to choose to fall in love with anyone we find in any country. This is also part of the reason so many people want to live in the US. Sure we have our share of problems, but it is still one of the best places in the world to live, and to practice any religon you choose. 9/11/01 was no less tragic then 12/7/41. Anyone who wants to live in the US, or already lives here, should never forget either of these dates. Both were vicious and unprovoked sneak attacks. Have a wonderful holiday season. Bob M a Vietnam Veteran....
  11. Hello everyone, Today, Friday, December 6, 2002, the Boston Globe published an article about the continuing K-Visa delays. This was done mostly because Alan, just kept hounding the media until someone would finally listen. Please go to - - www.bostonglobe.com Click on City/Region and the complete story will come up. Story was very good, and mostly positive except for the obvious. The reporter did not want to place the term mail order bride, but stated her copy editor made the decision to place that in the article. All in all I hope this will be seen by the right people. It seems there are more and more of these stories showing up. Hopefully, this trend will continue and more of the public will become aware and hopefully a bit outraged. Thanks, Alan & Tony, Bob M.
