  1. WOHOO! I sent the info in on August 6th, 2013 and we received a letter today dated August 20th that they had been approved for the permanent green card! There must have been something in there they wanted!
  2. It took my wife about 2-3 weeks for a SSN card to arrive. The license took 2 years. I swear the guy giving the test felt bad for her and just passed her. She passed by 1 point and she was telling me he gave her suggestions about going around corners etc. Oh well! She has it now!
  3. When you submit the information, get a statement from as far back as possible and a current one. I made the mistake of submitting some current insurance policies but they had no way of knowing how long my wife had been on the account. I also got a notarized statement from the bank verifying when she was added to the account and also from the auto/home insurance (mine were the same) stating when she was added to the acocunt. Both places had no problem giving notarized statements. Get the affidavits. My friends had no problem. Have them take the letter they wrote to their bank or a local bank and they will notarize their signatures. It is very easy. The USCIS stated health insurance cards were not relevant due to the policy being in my name. Showing various bills I paid for dental, health, and whatever did not make a difference. The RFE letter clearly stated none of these would be used as evidence for the relationship. Nonetheless, send it. Maybe my person was having a bad day.
  4. The instructions seemed a little vague to me. I was on the understanding the items they requested were to be implemented over the 2 year time frame. Unfortunately, they want proof from day 1, so anything related tot he day she stepped off the plane is important. Hope all goes well for you!
  5. I submitted tons of information originally. The only items I did not have were the 2012 tax returns because they were not completed by the time I needed to send the info to USCIS. I sent many pictures, 2 affidavits from friends, bank account info listing my wife as joint, NUMEROUS beneficiary information on life insurance and other investments, health insurance information, information from the school concerning our daughter, and a few utility bills. After all this, I still got the RFE. I now sent the 2012 tax returns, auto insurance/home policies, and a few more items. If this doesn't fulfill their RFE, I have no idea what they want. The more info you have the better, although in most cases, it seems like you are at the whim of the person doing the auditing. My friend's wife just got her 10 year card. He showed me what he sent in. A copy of their joint bank acocunt, a will, 1 affidavit, and some pictures. I was dumbfounded. She and her son received their 10 year cards 2 weeks ago. Good luck!
  6. Thank you for the links. I have the same problem as one of the other posters. Everything is basically in my name. I owned the house and cars before she arrived. We have a joint account, but it doesn't go back 2 years. I have school documents from my daughter showing the time frame and insurance papers. She just got her license, but she had the temporary license for 2 years with our address. Credit card goes back only 6 months. All the bills for utilities etc are automatic withdrawal, so there are no paper statements with her name. I am going to send our will insurance papers, 2012 tax return and whatever else I have. We have been married over 3.5 years so I have a lot of stuff.
  7. We filed all the paperwork for the permanent green card. I received a letter back stating they need more evidence. I am not sure what more to send. I sent the follwoing: Drivers License, health insurance, dental insurance, photos, affadivits, life insurance, retirement funds, bank acocunt info, and credit cards. The tax return was from 2011 because the 2012 had not been filed, so I can send the 2012 tax return. Since my wife does not have a job, she does not have a credit card of her own. I bought the house long before I met her, so her name is not on the title. Same goes for the cars. I am not sure what to do here. Any help would be appreciated. I only got this letter for my wife..not for my step daughter. Thanks in advance.
  8. Ok..now I understand. It isn't worth the wait. This whole mess (due to the idiot lawyers) has been going on too long already. I bought plane tickets and they are due to arrive on April 15th. Thanks for all your help everybody, especially you Dan. You've helped more people on there than China has rice...and they have a lot of rice!!
  9. We have been married 15 months now and the visa expires after 2 years. So we should hold off giving the packets to the POE officer until after 2 years? She has been granted a CR-1 green card. I guess I am not 100% sure what you are saying. My stepdaughter is also coming. She will need to enroll in school. Can we hold off on hers and still get her enrolled?
  10. Yes, she is CR-1. Great!! Thanks for the information! How long till she actually gets the card or whatever? Will have green card status the moment arrive in USA visa has a notation on it that says I-551, this equals green card. Actual card arrives a few weeks later. SSN in about a month, if not then visit SSA office and order one. Again..thanks for all your help!

  12. Hello, I searched the forums a bit, but some of the posts are so old and things have changed so rapidly, I couldn't really find an answer. My wife is arriving in the USA in a few weeks for the first time. She passed her interview with flying colors. They gave her 2 large packets of papers in a sealed bag. What exactly is she supposed to do with this? She was told on 001 that she give it to the immigration officer at the airport. Is this correct? Seems a little haphazard to me. Thanks all, Ron
  13. I applied for my wife and stepdaughter's I-130 on January 15, 2010. On March22, I received an email saying they were both approved. A few days later, I received a written letter acknowledging this fact. Then I received an email from the NVC saying I need to pay the fee for my stepdaughter. That was over a week ago and I have not seen anything on my wife. I would have assumed that since the USCIS processed them together, the NVC would have done the same. My stepdaughter has a GUZ number already according to the email. Is this normal? Thanks, Ron
  14. Well...assuming most of you are married to some lovely beautiful Chinese lady such as I am...there probably isn't much of a story I can tell that many of you haven't already lived now is there? :yahoo As for the 2.5 weeks..she took me to all the vacation spots and tourist attractions...during the day.
