  1. Does anyone know if my spouses daughter has to also pay the same fee as her fee which i think is $525 plus the $30 processing fee? thanks,
  2. We are also coming up for 10 year renewal and are there any sample letters anyone have, that we can look at to ask our friends to sign? Thanks, Ben and Amy Currently $545, however there is indications that USCIS is considering raising fees AGAIN. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...c=38716&hl= {I Am Surprised there were not many comments to this post}
  3. Great story, and congrats!!! It's been 2 years for us since we went through the process. And reading your story brings back a lot of memories. ....thanks

  5. Thank you again, my wife is going to them tomorrow to register for ESL classes, maybe your wife and mine can make friends there?
  6. Hi My name is Ben and i understand what you and your wife are going through. It's tough and sometimes frustrating re: her speaking English. I contacted Chinatown Manpower and they are not doing anything right now to help people get jobs, I guess due to budget cutbacks. But I will still try and find something for her to do, and not give up hope. Thank you, Ben
  7. Yes, thanks for that info on Craigslist.
  8. Very little work experience.
  9. My wife is finding difficulties in finding a job, it's been 2 years she is not working and staying home her English is not good enough to find any kind of job which involves interaction with money or sales. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions which might help her to get her foot in the door as I am running out of things for her to try and look at. She worked at Kohl's for 5 months and then quit, worked as a baby sitter temporarily. Anyhow I call her at 11:30 am and she still sleeping and we definitely need to get 2 incomes as she has very little money and my income is ok but not enough to save much money. Anyone have any ideas, we live in Queens NY near Flushing, even there is very little work for her to find.
  10. Can someone tell me what the tradition is all about re:sending money to lao po's family, I would appreciate it. thanks, Ben
  11. Congrats!!!!Where in NY are you going, we both live in NYC and would like to maybe meet you in Flushing for a celebration dinner.
  12. What a great story!!!! Congrats and welcome home,
  13. Mr and Mrs Yang are sweethearts and I highly recommend them, there is no if's and's or but's!!!!! They were always there for us from meeting us the Seven 11 when we arrived to inviting us to there home for use of the computer to using there phone. This is truly a business for them, but look at the many people in here they have helped. You make your mind up by weighing the +'s and -'s and I am sure you will see what i am saying is true. All the best! Ben
  14. I am a bit frustrated on limited conversation with my lao po. Any suggestions how to make better conversation and maybe learn Chinese.
  15. Thank you Ova for the info, btw great pics on your web.
  16. No my lao po goes to a Chinese dentist and we found out she has a periodontal disease. She had a deep cleaning a few days ago and now is on antibiotics and takes Motrin for the pain. There are other problems that she has with a tooth that has a crack in it and might need crown work. .....So lao po is going to dentist today for a recheck, but the main thing is she trusts this dentist since she can communicate in her language, so i highly recommend anyone who is going to use a dentist should find someone that speaks the same language.
  17. When we first arrived here last August i did take my lao po to my dentist and she needed root canal which she was fine with, but she refuses to get her teeth cleaned. Today the reality hit when the dentist told me that her gums are no good and that she has 3 cavities. So tomorrow we go to a Chinese woman dentist. Hopefully all will be taken care of for my beautiful lao po. I might ask the dentist to please clean her teeth as well, but i need to feel it out when we get there.
  18. btw tomorrow we are seeing regular dentist in Flushing, then see what the next step is.
  19. I have to sit down and discuss with lao po and teach her to use electric toothbrush. But for now the important thing is to take care of her 3 cavities, and her gums with the Periodontist tomorrow and hope this new dentist will reaffirm in Chinese what my dentist already told her in English the importance of taking care of her health. Thanks for all your support! Ben
