  1. My future wife explained how it works to me - (1) she prepares the food and (2) I come to the table to eat it with her and don't give her any trouble. She is an excellent cook and I know that she is just watching out for my health because she loves me so I am prepared for a variety of new foods. Fortunately I do like fruit, vegetables and most Chinese food. I'm not the big fan of fungus and some other things she thinks are necessary for my health but once she explained the health benefits of eating it, I learned to tolerate it. She explained to me (maybe some of the Chinese folks here will agree or disagree with this statement) that in Chinese culture, what you eat is part of keeping you healthy. So that is why you eat some oils, some nuts (she loves those little sunflower seeds), some fish or tofu, some fruit, some fungus etc. It is all part of a balanced diet to keep you healthy. Kind of preventative maintenance for the human body. When she tells me she cooks this way for me because she wants us to be healthy and together for a long, long time - it just melts my heart. I would eat sawdust if she put it in front of me. Her cooking is very, very good and now I am learning to like things I never thought I would like. I did tell her that when she gets here I cannot eat all 21 weekly meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner x 7 days) of only Chinese food. I could not eat 21 meals a week of only American food either. I think 15 to 18 meals a week of Chinese food will be good, then the rest I hope she can learn to cook European, Other Asian (Thai, Vietnamese, Indian) Mexican, Cuban and American foods for some variety. I think she learn to do this because she is very clever and she lived in Europe for several years. Fruit is not bad and you do not have to just eat apples or pears. Try apples, grapes, cherrys, peaches, pineapples cut up and tossed in a salad. Or how about grilled pineapple and apple over a grill? Also try it with yogurt or frozen yogurt or in breakfast cereal. An apple a day...! Good luck! I do like Vegetables! I eat about 99% of all Vegetables and I do eat many kinds of food, it is just those HORRIFING FRUITS!!!
  2. I don't think I will get any scurvy.
  3. I don't like apples of any kind. I REALLY hate Strawberries or any berry of any kind. They just gross me out! Mango and Papaya no, hate them too.
  4. Well, as a child I did not like it either. My mother would try to feed it to me and I would spit it out, "as I am told by my mother" so for some reason I just don't like it. You are right, the taste, and the texture make me just want to throw up. I do like the smell of fruit though. I do like Oranges, this is the only fruit I do like. My wife will force me to eat a Banana, I can handle that one but it is not as good as Oranges. Yes I do like Jello, so maybe fruit juice being made with Jello will work. I don't like smoothes or any of those fruit drinks. Just give me the Vodka on ice OR with some Orange juice. My house is filled with fruit, we go to the Hong Kong market and she fills the cart half filled with all types of fruit. She eats it all day long. YUK!!
  5. I have a problem, my wife thinks I must eat fruit, well, I hate it! I don't like it in any shape or form. I lied, I do like oranges, but everything else is a big NO WAY! My dog eats more fruit than I do. She just does not understand that when I tell her I hate it, I mean I hate it. She tells me to try it and you need to eat it. Well again I don't like it and I don't want it. Anyone else have this issue?
  6. Is this the everyday routine, come home from work then go out? Man, you are living my dream!! Just don't pee on your shoe.
  7. It was actually my thoughtful wife that did all the pre-ordering before she left. She just has an eye on taking care of me and wanted to make it easy for me while she was gone. I've gotten quite a bit of practice ordering since being here, but this will give me a bit more. WOW, you got a good wife!!
  8. THE BEER WALL http://i43.tinypic.com/33crtw9.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/29xd8yb.jpg Cool!!! You want company?
  9. Jesse you will be fine, I got faith in you!
  10. Great pictures, it reminds me when I went to China the first time and my wife took me to the Great wall. I thought I was in shape but climbing that I was out of breath and it was in the middle of summer too. Keep posting, love the pictures!!
  11. Jin I don't know if you were referring to me in the last part of this thread but if you were I have just as much right to post my thoughts on this matter as anyone else as long as I abide by the rules and I certainly think that I have done that. I have a right to agree with or disagree with what you post as long as I do it in a decent manner. There will never be a world that every single person agrees on every single issue, never. We are all individuals with individual thoughts and ideals. Even in some countries that BRAINWASHING is the norm there are still people that do not accept what is spoon fed to them one way or another. You did say "LETS TALK AND SHARE" or did you only want people to respond that agreed with you?????? Larry yes of course you can Larry however this thread is not about "brainwashing" or taking cheap shots at me . As the OP I am asking to stay on topic please. your on topic thoughts are very welcome Jin I only used the brainwashing terminology as that is a way that people and governments use to get people to accept their ideals and beliefs. I do believe that has a bearing here and is not off topic at all. We have had our own disasters here in American with the Branch Dividian (spelling) in Texas and then what happen with Jim Jones in Africa concerning American citizens. These were some of the major incidents that have come to mind. Jin I do understand what you started out to do but Americans are very set in their ideals and that comes from our great freedom of choices that we are so fortunate to enjoy. Sometimes there have been disasters in relation to these freedoms. Like the folks in California that thought the world was coming to an end and all of them killed themselves. If my memory serves me correctly I think there was about 100-150 of them. In my opinion all were a result of brainwashing and government interference. Brainwashing can come in many forms not just a governments way of controlling people. I now realize that it was meant as a approach to dealing with lifes challenges and relationships but it is related to some type of religion. My point is that even religion can be a form of brainwashing you see. Larry Larry, Jim Jones was South America. "NOVEMBER 1978: More than 900 Americans die in what was apparently a "mass suicide" by members of a "cult" commune called Jonestown, in Guyana, South America."
  12. harmony is not just a concept , correct ? meditation is not just a speed , this is maybe a misconception held. Balance cannont be brought to you by practice of movement but from you to movement no matter the speed of actions and from spirit/mind first. Why the quote? I'm not selling books. btw Taiji (tai chi)or as the Chinese call it "The Great Chaos" is a treasure of China culture. Was not quoting you. I was quoting Jin and what she said.
  13. What do you mean, exactly "this approach'? For instance, you believe discovering Buddhism is best for all? Reading books about that lady's life is best for all? Or, specifically, that "... pain can be a great spiritual teacher. " At any rate, I believe what's best for all is "to each their own way". Right on!

  15. But thats a fake piano, made entirely from old Chinese newspapers and shoe polish. Just go a little further and you will be in Hong Kong. You can trust the quality there. Brand names at American prices. Again, your SICK and need HELP. I thought there were some REAL stupid people out there in the world, BUT you go to the top of the list!!
  16. Did you hear that Cuzin???????? Your bass maybe made in China? I don't mind a chuckle on my behalf: But; I didn't see where the name of the bass was mentioned. There is no doubt in my mind that guitars in the $2000 price range are made in China and are worth the money. China produces many precision instruments, there all levels of quality right up to the rare and beautiful. The perception that all Chinese products are substandard is American propaganda. When a high quality product is manufactured in China, most often its not available to buy in China. I remember the Sony Digital Camera problem in China about a year ago,all the ones made in China for sale in China had the fake part inside, but the real ones were shipped out of China. For electric guitars, etc, theres a big music store in HongKong with all the regular stuff just like an American music store. Same price range too. South Korea and Japan are the same.
  17. My wife says, there are plenty of music stores in China. No problem with that.
  18. I'm not surprised. This is so common in China. Most of my co-workers also work until about 9:00 or 10:00 every night. China will handle problems with unemployment much better than Americans. You did not read the article correctly: as many as 26 million of China's estimated 130 million migrant workers are now unemployed -- they are only talking about migrant workers not all workers. This is 20%. also the article said "countryside, where jobs have always been scarce and migrant workers contribute 65 percent of the average rural family's cash income, according to research from the People's Bank of China." Americans saving and not spending is bad for China. It is now a global economy and a problem in one area no longer is isolated from the rest of the world. The article was written by someone with a Chinese name for a Western audience. American audiences just love gloom and doom stories. The reality is quite a bit different. One of the most important factors you must read into every Western slanted article is CULTURE. I can assure you that in China, there is very little unemployment when compared to US culture. The people of the smaller cities in China in just this generation, have gone from living without indoor plumbing, heat, and other modern conveniences, to having an option to work in big cities, and enjoy a much better life. For generation after generation these people have lived hard and worked hard with whatever they can do to get by. The US holds some of the most spoiled people on planet earth. Their idea of hardship is rising gas prices and reduced home prices. They have neither experienced going without nor learning how to live when they have nothing. While there are thousands of migrant workers in China whose jobs have been suspended, many of them will likely be needed again within several months or a few years. During that time, they will simply go back home and make their way and get by with doing whatever it takes to get by. While not easy, they will handle it a lot better than their American counterparts. You are right on!! My wife says that a lot of migrant workers will go back to wherever they came from and make their living by farming while waiting for the next chance to return to the City.
  19. China needs to learn more about western ways of doing things like, opening much need good driving schools! And more Western Toilets! I know that was said BUT that one is important. America needs to learn more Chinese ways of doing things like, (did somebody say anything about eating more fruit and vegetables) if not I said it. And EDUCATION!! Chinese are dedicated.
  20. "DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND US ?" answer: NO
  21. My wife was watching it for awhile but it got boring and turned on the Chinese channels.
