  1. carl,

SSN...Free! Enjoy it. You'll apply for this once she joins with you here.

AOS, EAD and AP = $1,010.00

Packaged deal as EAD and AP (travel documents if need be until GC arrives), come with the AOS fees.

No other fees in the process once AOS is complete and 2 yr. GC arrives until filing I-751 one yr and 9 months later.

Marriage license, state ID, drivers license, etc., vary from state to state, but won't hurt the wallet too much.

I think with this amount above, I am in the ballpark.

  2. Michael & Fang,

    Once again...

    :D :D CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D :D :D

What a wonderful week for you two and us both! Green cards aplenty this week.

I think you have it all covered. Although, we will have the restriction removed from Wen Li's SS card as it is yet another source of pride for her to have it removed and her sense of being the same as myself!

We wish you the happiest future ahead.

    Much care,

    Clayton & Wen Li

  3. :) :cheering: :cheering: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

WOW!!! And we were celebrating only the arrival of Wen Li's "Welcome" letter!!! Hoping we to find the same notice you and Fang did soon. The letter states her GC should arrive within the next three weeks. I feel you are ahead of this schedule.

Once again, CONGRATS!!!....but we don't forgive you for not calling and telling us first! Seems we have to hear it through the grapevine or here on CFL! Lol.

  4. ILS and Steve...Thanks so much!

ILS...Yes, nice and smooth, but don't think I didn't sweat every minute of this process!!! We wish all the same smooth process to you and all the others who seek what we now share. Our marriage grows stronger each day and I am thankful for that!

Steve...Woo hoo on the EAD! One step at a time. I've been along side you since the beginning and not sure how at some point we have passed ahead of you, but CSC has done us well and happy to learn that your paper now rests in the same office. Hoping you are not far behind. As I have in the past, I will watch for your posts and updated timeline. Best wishes to you and Aiwen. Nanning Rules!!!

  5. Thanks Michael and Roger!

Good to hear from you both.

Michael...Lol, I am sure you heard the news from Fang before you read it here on CFL. We are both very happy and yes, even more so once we actually receive the notice and GC in the mail. Once it arrives we are to get her state ID updated to her now new name and also the SS card without the restriction notice stamped on it. Goes to show you that at least some of the apps sent onto CSC are approved without an interview. I feel you will soon find the same results. Take care, the both of you!

Roger...Congrats will soon be in order for you too! It has been a long wait for you. I know you are soon to travel, once again, to GUZ. I am so jealous. You know as well as I do that you have that visa in the bag already. Just a formality at this point. Wishing you safe travels there and back. I will be watching for your posts.

  6. Mike,

I can only answer one of your questions.

Here is what I found on VJ when asking nearly the same about when you should file the I-485 AOS:

Right away, or at least right after your honeymoon. You should make every effort to get the Adjustment application filed within 90 days of the fiance(e) entering the United States, which is when the K-1 status expires, as indicated on the I-94.

Perhaps there may be an extension that can be filed, but surely someone with more knowledge than myself will chime in shortly if there is.

  7. Thanks everyone!!!

Much relief knowing that there is nothing to do now but.....WAIT!!!

Glad to learn that the wording of the letter means nothing since our biometrics was completed some time back. Thanks for the explanation on that Randy.

Mike and Lily...Yes, it is nice to get it done without an interview. Wish you had the same luck, but the outcome was the same! Congrats to you both also.

Dave...I can only hope we share the same timeline as you for receiving the actual GC. Barely a week after you got your letter and you received the coveted GC.

Don...Thanks so much! I can relax now for the next 1 year and 9 months before the next hurdle.

    Darnell...Lol! Thanks for the deciphering.

Gino...Glad to see you here and making progress in your quest also. I hope that you do not find any more delays and you are not far behind us!

  8. Awoke this morning to find this notice from USCIS:

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO

    ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On May 19, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice.

Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Although this brings us both much happiness, could someone explain what I have highlighted in bold?

    Thanks,

    Clayton & Wen Li

  9. Me,

Welcome to the Candle and congrats on your first post.

You will find many variations of answers on this question.

Either choice will not hurt or help.

My wife's maiden name was, Wen Li. Arrived in the U.S. and once married she assumed the name of, Li Wen Taylor. During the filing of AOS I-485 her name was changed to Wen-Li Taylor with no middle name.

The choice is yours. Just use the name of choice on all applications throughout the process.

It is only a personal choice of yours and hers.

  10. Hi,

just recently file Aos i-485 and I765 together...and i know you can track your filing status by having them email to you...just want to know how i can register with uscis and start receving update info from them.....do i need to recieve NOA1 inorder to register.....or otherwise how ?.....i visited the USCIS website...but they only ask for some simple info on the registration form.....like name, address..email..etc..etc......i mean..what if somebody has the same name...or something....and the I-485 and I-765 are filed under my wife's name...so i should enter her name .current address, and email..etc..etc...?...can someone direct me to the right link....( i have never registered before....)....any help will be much appreciated...thank you...

    Andy

    Andy,

    Try this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

    Then this:

    Create/Edit customer portfolio account

Yes, you will need your NOA's. You must use your wife's name and address...etc., it is her application. You will need to enter the receipt numbers for each application you filed. No mix-up with the name issue you mention.

Receipt numbers can be found on each of your NOA's (I-797) you received.

This should help you track your applications.

  11. Threadbare,

Perhaps you may be as lucky as us.

    Biometrics Appt......March 25, 2008

    EAD Card Arrives....April 3, 2008

Total days waiting for card after appointment....8

    Clayton

Did they send it to you,or do you have to go there and pick it up in person?

    Threadbare,

    Arrived via USPS.

I noted other members timelines, after I replied to your post and found several that received their EAD card within 8-10 days of their biometrics appointment.

    There is hope!

  12. Allow me to tag along on this, please....

How do you get a "certified passport?"

I asked our local notary to notarize a copy of my passport and she refused to do it. She said that she only notarizes signatures.

The things I've read seem to want a notary's seal on every photocopy page of the passport.

    griz,

This has been brought up in a past post, yet I can not find it at the moment.

Some will not notarize due to the reason she spoke of. Others have no problem with this. Try a couple more and you will find one that will not have an issue and stamp your copy of your passport with their seal.

Although I had every page of my passport and the cover copied, I only had the notary stamp the page with my info and photo.
