  1. Thanks! No I wasnt calling. How do you do that?

    Ron,

Here is how to contact DOS.:

    Call DOS at 1.202.663.1225

Then press 1, then press 5, then press 0.

One of two things will happen:

    1. An automated message will tell you "all phone lines are busy and to call back later" (or something close to these words), and the phone line will disconnect.

    2. An automated message will tell you "please wait until a visa specialist answers your call and your wait time will be xx minutes (usually 15 minutes)" (or something close to these words). If this occurs, hold the phone until a live person (visa specialist) answers. While you are on-hold you will not hear music but you will only hear silence (so stay on the phone !!!!). Every 4 -5 minutes while you are waiting an automated message will inform you to stay on the line (I cannot remember the exact words).

When the visa specialist answers, they will ask you the following information:

    Beneficiary's Case Number:

    Beneficiary's Name:

    Beneficiary's Birthdate:

After you supply the above information, then ask for a status update on your fiancee's/spouse's case.

    --------------------------------------

    Hope this helps.

  2. :( I am so excited, I just wanted to share it with all of you.

Li Ping received Pcket# 3 today, she told me she already filled out the form, and is sending back to GZ tomorrow! WOW here I thought it would be another month before we heard from them.

And by the way, I am going to be there with her for the interview.

I will keep you all posted.........Ron

    Ron,

Much CONGRATS!!! And, even more important...I am pleased to learn that you have decided to be there with Li Ping for the interview. I will be following your timeline also. Gee, I seem to be following everyone else's timelines. Just once I would love to lead. Keep us all posted.

By chance, were you calling DOS for updates on your case status?

  3. I called DOS today and found out my fiancee has been "cleared for interview". For most of us that received our P-2 approval in May, it seems DOS is really working at a fast clip. Now we are expecting an interview sometime in October, and P-4 most likely in early September.

I had called DOS on Thursday, and told that GUZ was still waiting for P-3 to be returned. Huh? Sunshine called the White Swan Hotel (the address where EMS delivers for GUZ) on Aug 10 and was told it was indeed picked up by GUZ on Aug 9. We returned our P-3 after getting notification it was sent, but prior to actually receiving the form from GUZ. This presents two postulates for CFL:

    1. DOS actually does do updates on the weekends, and Mondays are the best days to call. There are no real-time updates -- at least not yet.

    2. Sending back P-3 once we have notice that it has been sent out, but before actually receiving the physical paperwork, seems to work.

We had a similar experience with updates at P-3 time; on Thursday, they were waiting for it to arrive from the customs warehouse; the following Tuesday, their systems noted that P-3 had been sent out the previous Thursday.

Michaelt, Clayton and Illinois Dave might want to call DOS soon, since they returned theirs around the time we did as well.

    ILS

    ILS,

Thanks so much for the heads up. I have been checking with DOS each Friday at the end of the day and on Mondays for the last several weeks. I have read that computers were updated on Fridays and read also that they are updated on Saturdays. Glad to know you have learned that Saturdays seems to be the key here.

We are still awaiting P3. Each time I call I am told the same. My case is in the computer, but the paperwork must still be in customs. If I am told that the P3 papers have been sent, like yours, out go ours before they arrive.

Thanks for the verifications that you have provided. I wait. Although I wait with little patience.

I am following your timeline closely. My best wishes to you both.

  4. This is only my opinion and the way that I look at it...the interview is one of the single most important days in both of your lives, be there with her. Pink or blue, she will always remember how important she was to you, and how important the interview was to you. She will always remember your devotion and help to your shared goal. I couldn't imagine not being there for my precious woman.

I was in your shoes a week ago!!! Went to boss, asked for week off for seeing my sweetheart, interview, morale support, ACH, medical, 2nd trip, etc. Also asked for week off without pay (on call) a month later to meet her at Point of Entry and arrival in the US. My boss granted both. I am soooooo grateful to him. I feel really good about being there for my honey...pink or blue. I am sending her a "more than adequate" package (thank you "David's Kitchen Sink"!!!) and will also have tons more e-mails/chat etc stuff if needed. Go for her interview!!! Beg, borrow, steal....credit card, refinance, left arm...whatever...for time to get her aclimated when she arrives. You'll pull it off. Make it work!!!

    Ron,

I am in agreement with tsap and most others who have responded. I am in the same boat as Michael. My boss stated "family first" when I spoke of my need for a leave of absence to travel with my SO for the interview. It will be my fourth trip this year. My vacation time will be used up after next months visit and my wallet will be crying as I return shortly (hopefully) thereafter for the interview. But I could never think of my SO going at it alone. I will be there for a once in a lifetime moment as we share the happiness of the "PINK." If any other color is granted to us, I will wish to be there to console and be consoled. I would not have it any other way.

As Michael writes: "Beg, borrow, steal...." I don't think you'll regret it.

    Clayton

Please note that CFL does not endorse stealing, or any method of theft.....

Damn! I'd better put that back.

  6. I followed the instuction they had on their webste and put everything together in a neat and orderly fashion. we had no problems and my wife is now here with me....Best of luck :)

Can you share with me ,where on their website would interview paper- work prep be? I read your post and thought I'd take a look, and have spent the last half hour looking, and can not find any of their instructions on how to organize paperwork for interview. I would be grateful if you could direct me?

    Michael,

I am not sure if there are proper instructions for the Interview paperwork, but below is what is posted on USCIS's web site for application paperwork assembly.

These are the instructions I followed when I sent in my I-129F.

    Clayton

General Tips on Assembling Applications for Mailing

Mark both the envelope and the cover letter as to the nature of the submission. Example: ORIGINAL SUBMISSION - BRIEF FOR AN APPEAL - RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - etc.

Use the appropriate mailing address and mark both the envelope and the cover letter as to the form type. Example: I-129; I-130; I-690; I-698, etc.

Provide both the receipt notice number and the A-Number as an identifier, if they are available.

If the packet is being resubmitted in response to a REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE (RFE), please place the notice requesting the additional evidence/information on the top of the packet. Also, please use the special mailing envelope provided.

If evidence is being submitted in support of a previously filed appeal or motion, a cover letter stating "BRIEF FOR APPEAL", etc., should be placed on top of the packet.

In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:

Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.

Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.

The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.

Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.

Avoid submitting originals unless specifically required. Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible.

If you are sending more than one case in an envelope, clearly separate the cases by rubber band or clip fasteners.A form G-28 is not acceptable unless signed by the authorized representative and the petitioner (re: petitions) or the applicant (re: applications). Facsimile signature stamps are acceptable for the signature of the representatives. However, applicants/petitioners must live sign the initial Form G-28 submitted with the application/petition. Any subsequent Form G-28 relating to the same case may be a photocopy of the original, which should be already attached to the relating case.

Send copies of any prior approval notices with any new requests for extensions of stay, change of status or amended petitions.

Keep copies of all submissions. Don't assume the officer will have access to a prior file or record. Submit as complete a packet as possible so the case can be adjudicated from what you submit. Submit a complete packet of information for each petition or application. If officers have to review prior files or records, the adjudication of the case can be delayed substantially.

Be sure to complete all pertinent items on the petition or application. Ensure all entries on the forms are legible. Note the appropriate consulate, embassy, or a request to adjust status on the petition. Do note enter "N/A" when "None" is appropriate.

If you believe your situation to be unique, explain it fully in an attachment to the packet, not as a cover letter.

Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

    Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

    Signature_________________________________

    Date Typed Name

    Address

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At the discretion of the officer, original documents may still be required in individual cases. Please be advised that USCIS no longer returns original documents submitted with the exception of Certificates of Naturalization, Forms I-551, Permanent Resident Card, Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Document, valid passports, or those specifically requested by the officer. Such documents will be returned when they are no longer needed.

Reminder: The best way to locate records is through the receipt number and/or the A-Number. Always provide this information whenever possible. If you don't know the A-Number, provide a COMPLETE name and date of birth. ALSO: Provide ANY AND ALL names used by the individual, including aliases, maiden names, names used when originally admitted to the United States, etc. Providing this information is extremely helpful and speeds up processing time.

DUPLICATE FILINGS (without fee): Cases will be accepted as a duplicate filing only when USCIS has specifically requested that a duplicate be filed. In such a case be sure to submit the receipt number of original filing or any copies of notices received from USCIS on the first filing when submitting a duplicate petition or application.

The address block on the forms is the data field captured for all of our mailings. Consistent with the limitations on the number of characters per line (a maximum of 32) and the total numbers of lines (4) in that field, whatever is in the block will become the mailing address used by the system. The data in these fields is entered exactly as indicated on the forms. Please include internal routing symbols in the address block, especially for large organizations. It is better to abbreviate the name of the organization and have space for the routing codes than to fully spell out the name and have notices sit in the organization's mailroom.

Recognized authorities: Many I-129 petitions filed with evidence of the beneficiary's education or accomplishments include documentation submitted by various authorities. For example, petitions for artists and entertainers may incude evidence the beneficiary has received an award or other recognition of achievement. Petitions for individuals employed in a specialty occupation may include evidence the beneficiary belongs to a professional organization. When an individual's awards or membership is used to support a petition, evidence establishing the reputation of that organization must also be submitted. Examples of the type of evidence needed includes the following: the size and standing of the organization or the organization's requirements for membership and any other documentation which would establish the reputation of that organization.

When an opinion from a recognized authority is submitted, the opinion should state: the writer's qualifications as an expert; the writer's experience giving such opinions, citing specific instances where past opinions have been accepted as authoritiative and by whom; how the conclusions were reached; and the basis for the conclusions, including copies or citations of any research material used.

Any application or petition for an individual currently in F-1 status needs to include evidence the student has been maintaining status and has been authorized employment if applicable. Such evidence usually can be satisfied by submitting the latest Form I-20AB/I-20ID and a copy of the employment authorization card.

  7. Michael,

On your concern of #11....What address did she put in #10?

    #11 reads:

"Address in the United States where you want your Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) mailed. If different from address in item #10 (include the name of a person who currently lives there)."

In #11 on our DS-230 we wrote: (Same as #10)

If she put her permanent address (yours) in #10, I feel you will be fine with N/A in #11.

    Hope this helps.

  8. Yep, my friend's wife had her interview today and received a blue slip. They just have to come up with the overcome and turn it in. No big deal, only a setback. A setback unwelcomed but not too hard to overcome. It's just going to take some time. Mr. Yang is helping her now in Guangzhou, which is a good thing. She will eventually get her visa. That's the day I'm looking forward to.

Sad news. For the longest we saw nothing but happiness with "Pink" this and "Pink" that. I wish that were the case for everyone.

Sounds like a simple overcome. Can you enlighten us to what may of caused the "Blue" slip? It would help us all.

    Thanks,

    Clayton

  9. I didn't miss this day last year and I certainly wouldn't miss it this year. I take every opportunity to show my love to my SO and this Chinese Valentine's Day is perfect for just that.

As much as she hates me to spend the money on something that will soon wither away, the pleasure I get in sending them and the most gleeful voice I hear when she calls after she receives them...I will send them time and time again.

As we both knew of this impending day, she told me numerous times to not send any flowers, but you would never know of her request of me when her excited little voice tells me that I have done so well once again.

I will laugh soon again, as each bundle of flowers sent to her is shared with me via photos on the internet. I swear she will send at least 20 different photos from different angles of this simple bundle of petals sent to her.

I have used Annie's since day one of our courtship. Only twice did I find any issue with them. Both were due to late in the day deliveries as today's was. They didn't arrive until 7:15 in her evening. Each time they added at no cost to me a small stuffed animal to the gift of flowers and emailed me with a detailed explanation, an apology and what they have done to make up for it. I will use them again, probably sooner than later.

  10. I am preparing my "Evolution of Relationship" as many others are here at CFL at this time.

I will hand write (print) and supply computer generated copy also as my writing sucks too.

    My questions:

    How detailed should this be?

How have many others here gone about completing this requirement?

Should I include; how we met, travel dates, things done while visiting...etc., etc., etc.?

I'm wanting to include all they wish to read and know, but not wanting to provide a novel at the same time.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

    Hi Clayton,

I'm starting on this now and hope it's not so long that they opt to wait for the movie?

    Hey Michael,

I have mine written to computer now. I'll be waiting for my return home after my third visit to update and write by hand just prior to the interview trip. Perhaps add and write of this also.

With the mushy stuff, I highlighted all dates, travels together, amount of days of visits, number of visits...etc. Fairly simple, but reading responses I got from my post I scaled back on the movie, whittled down the novel and I ended up with 1.5 pages.

I am watching your posts most closely now. We couldn't have a closer timeline. One day diff on the NVC out date. Keep your eyes on mine. Called DOS today for my weekly update to learn nothing new. How about you?

    Clayton

  11. Yep, I'll be there!

We had planned my visit for the first week of September many months ago, but because of the Mooncake Festival we rescheduled my visit for this occasion, per my SO and her mother.

Also, October 1st is National Day. I'll be there for that one too.

Although I couldn't be happier to spend these holidays with my SO and her family, I am a bit sad knowing if it wasn't for the holidays I would be in her arms again on September 2nd as originally scheduled.

Soon to return to her shortly thereafter for a hopeful and successful interview. I'm thinking mid November.

    Clayton

  12. Also, what should she ask for at Police Station for Police Certificate? Does she say she is interviewing to come to America? I have read elsewhere that local police sometimes not as helpful when interviewing for K-1 visa and going to America is what certificate is for? (politics perhaps?)

My SO did this just today. Spoke with her of this question of yours just moments ago.

She stated that she did tell the officers that she needs the police certificate for the interview to come to America. She told me that this is a very common request and they know exactly what she will need.

She will then take this document given to her to the proper authorities to have it translated and certified for the interview.

    Hope this helps.

  14. Hello All,

I am just bursting to tell every one, that I checked the status of our case with the DOS today....and.....as of July 23, GUZ has completed the processing of our P3, and we are waiting for an interview date to be assigned....since GUZ hands out the next block of interview dates at the end of the month, I hope to know by the end of next week when our interview will be.

    WAAAHOOOO!!!!

All of a sudden, it seems our case is rocketing along....GUZ received our P3 on July 7, so that's just 16 calender days to completion, ready for interview assignment. Hope our luck holds up, everyone cross your finger, toes, etc....

    Steve

    MUCH, MUCH CONGRATS STEVE!!!

Wow! I couldn't be happier for you both. As you know I have been following your posts with much interest. I am not far behind you as many others along my timeline also.

Now awaiting your next timeline update. I'm anxious to see the interview date posted.

    CONGRATS AGAIN,

    Clayton

  15. I am so jealous of you K1 filers.

In 3 months your application is in Guz.

In 3 months my I-130 will only just get to VSC, then more wait.

Best wishes for you all though.

While I am jealous, I still want you all to be successful.

Thanks credzba for your wishes of our success. Please be assured that we all here have the same jealousy of all who are ahead of us also.

Although let me correct you, this may help eliminate some of your jealousy, it has been 4 months roughly not 3, for most of us for NVC out.

We all wish you the same success on your visa endeavor also. It is only a matter of time. Good luck!

    Clayton

  16. Spoke to NVC on July 10 and they said K-1 case sent to GUZ on June 18 (NVC gave me GUZ # on the phone). Nice man from NVC said a letter stating this should be mailed to me in one month. Seems a bit long for me (but every step of this process is, right?) Does this timing sound correct? Based on my signature timeline, am I on track? Should I be calling someone?

    Thank you all.

    Same as you Michael.

NVC told me out to GUZ on June 19 and would receive a letter with 2-4 weeks of this date. None as of yet. Also told me that they do mass mailings of these notifications so it will arrive sooner or later. I now call this later and still waiting.

I will be watching yours, Dave's and others of the same timeline for an update once it is received. Watch for mine also.

  17. In the past there was a web site posted (which I have since lost) where asian clothing, videos, household items, etc could be found. Does anyone remember what the web address is for this site? All I remember is it was Asia____ .com Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  18. Hello Everyone;

I filed a I-129Fin February. Has any February Filers received their P-3 yet?

    Chris and Amy's Timeline

    I-129F sent Feb. 13th 2007

    Case # received Feb 20th

    Sent to NVC May 18th

    Sent to GUZ June 11th.

    rcbulk,

Just a little ahead of you (see timeline below) with my filing date and I am not expecting P-3 until mid to late August. Hoping sooner, but I am following other timelines and this guesstimate of mine is near what others have experienced.

I, along with several others are all on the same timeline, give or take a couple of weeks. Watch for their timeline updates also. I will be updating mine as each step is achieved.

    Clayton

  19. Called the NVC and they said they got my paperwork and it was forwarded to Guangzhou, yesterday, made me so happy. I know I am still in for a wait, but just one more step closer to being with my love.

    Rahm30,

    Congrats!

I, along with Illinoisdave are all on the same timeline. I'll be watching for your future posts as I am sure Dave will be also.

    Good Luck!

    Clayton

    Me too.

    Double Ditto!

Good luck to all of us. :boxer:

I think I'm in the same batch as the rest of ya'!

I have not received anything since my NOA2 back on May26th? Should I have? Should I start calling and if so, where? (603-334-0700?) I have many documents, letters, pictures, receipts and other kitchen sink items but not sure when to send to my SO? May I have your thoughts?

    Thank you

    michaelt,

You have the number correct. Call them. Give them your NOA2 number. Have your SO's name and birthdate handy.

They take calls until, I think, 11 PM EST. Now is the time to call. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.

I have contacted them nearly two weeks ago and was told that my case was sent to GUZ on 6/19. Others in this thread on our same timeline have also contact NVC to learn of their case status. All were given dates of mailings to GUZ.

I was told at the time that most will receive their mailed notice within 2-4 weeks after the mailing to GUZ. I was told that NVC does mass mailings and I can expect a mailed copy by 7/19.

I am waiting along with others above who I have been in contact with. I am watching all with the same timelines as mine for an update to their timelines to see if their mailed notice has been received also.

Keep your eyes on my timeline. I assure you, once the mail arrives my timeline will be updated.

    Clayton

  20. Thanks everyone. Thanks Randy. Thanks mchina for the link.

    Questions answered!

More questions have now come to mind.

    1. I work two full time jobs. Both easily exceed minimum requirements.

Since I am putting the dollar figure amount of my yearly income in the one space as it reads on my tax transcript from both jobs, should I include both employers names in the space marked (name of concern)?

    2. As the I-134 is not sent in the returned P-3 packet to Guangzhou, I will assume this becomes a piece of the kitchen sink. Correct?

    Thanks once again,

    Clayton

  21. First, I apologize. I have seen these questions answered here before, yet when I perform a search I come up with nothing.

My apology now out of the way, here are a couple of questions as I try to complete the I-134.

    1. Question 7. I assume (name of concern) is my employer. Correct?

    2. "I derive an annual income of:" I listed my annual income on the first line. Correct?

It asks for further information concerning savings banks, personal property value, stocks, life insurance, real estate, mortgages..etc.

    3. My annual income easily exceeds the minimal requirement, so do I need the fill all spaces in Question 7?

If not, do I just insert N/A in these spaces?

    4. Question 10. Do I include my SO's name here?

    5. Question 11. I "do" or "do not" intend to make contributions? Of course my SO is my fiancee and soon to be wife and I certainly will support her, but find confusion with this question.

I thank you for your help with my questions and will hope some of them are as complicated as I am finding them to answer, if not...when you all stop laughing for asking silly questions that will have simple answers, I apologize once again.

    Thanks,

    Clayton

    Good Luck!

  23.

My suggestion would be to have your SO get her police, single, divorce (if any) and birth certificates together and take them to the Gongshengshu. The police and single certificate have a one year lifespan, so it's not as time sensitive as the financial stuff and it can take a little while to get those things.

    Thanks Mike.

We have all documents at this time. We jumped the gun in December and had obtained them prematurely. We understand the divorce and birth certs. are not needing any updates, but will have the police and single certs. updated next month.

I am feeling that it will be in December before we reach the interview process so we will collect more recent docs. Worried the ones we now have will be too closely dated to the one year expiration date when our interview comes around.

Thanks for the PM. I have all my tax transcripts including W-2's, received them last week. Pay stubs can be gathered easily as I have all from the past three years and add to them twice monthly.

My concern is the letters from the employer/s. I can get them reasonably fast, but I am always preparing all in advance and if the letters can be dated in July or August for a December interview, I will get them gathered also. Too early?
