  1. Wow, that's great y'all! I hope we can do it that fast...ZZ
  2. Griz, I think you done good! I also think the other replies have much merit and good advice. ZZ
  3. Ya know Matt...I want to think that the USCIS would see that there are 2 mature people who are legally married and want to live together in the US. Of course they want to keep the criminal element out of the country, but do they really accomplish this even with the countries in America? Why all of this redundant paper work, documents and proof? And why the wait times of nearly a year and sometimes much more? Maybe they don't have the financial resources to hire more people...when it's time to buy a billion dollar weapon or attack a country there's always the funds available. I'm just venting the thoughts of many going through this tedious process. ZZ
  4. My wife loves me to bring her a bottle of, Southern Comfort, but I can't blame her. I take it in my checked luggage. A woman and her little girl (granddaughter) came up to me to sell a rose ...my wife and her friend jumped on her like fleas on a dogs back...they didn't like her using the little girl to beg/scam lao wais. My lao po picks and chooses who I can give donations to on the streets...what can I say? ZZ
  5. I think it's the same in many countries...northern people seem more distant and not as open to friendship as southern people...maybe it's a climate activated response in the body...hummmmm?
  6. My wife spent 11 years in the Air Force. I read in the "VJ Short Cuts" that she will need a certificate to prove her service at the interview. She has not ever heard of a certificate like this and doesn't know where to find one. Has anyone had any experience with this? Xie xie, ZZ
  7. I fly JAX - EWR - PEK - XMN for about $1,500 round trip. I have used several web sites for domestic flights and like Ctrips...good service and low prices. http://english.ctrip.com/
  8. Maybe they bought, "Carnivore" from the US Secret Police or the inJustice Department, hummmmm?
  9. That is a good example of, "OIC".
  10. My lao po laughs when I say to her,"Yes my dear"...
  11. Now, just to be sure for 'walk-through' - I go in, stand in line, say sweet words to the clerk, pay for same day service, and pick up later in the day. If that's not what you meant, please enlighten me? Oh yeah, that's exactly what I meant...got a 2 year visa, saved $50 and ate some good VN groceries..."Priceless!" ZZ
  12. strange...all the hotels i been to in china, they don't have heat, only heavy heavy blankets in closet. My wife and I were in Beijing last month and it was cold at night, but the heat didn't work....my wife told me in Beijing they turn on the heat(steam) November 1st and turn it off March 1st...brrrr! Ya know if you think about it the Chinese do a lot to conserve energy and environment....but it's a fact they are years behind catching up for the destruction caused be their industrial revolution. ZZ
  13. My lao po does make plans and likes to be on time (military career?), but many times she fails to tell me the whole plan and this irritates me. But like 'whome' and 'sqn' said...it has taught me to chill out and go with the flow...like Lao Tzu said, Life is to short to always be pissed-off. (not in quotes) There has been several times I got very upset with thing in the PRC...I found her doing all she could to make up for my upsets and also could see she was hurt, inside. This really hurt me and made me promise her and myself not to get upset over silly and trite things. Even on our day from hell...our day at the marriage office I stayed cool while Ying argued with the office manager for 20 minutes w/o coming up for air. ZZ
  14. Good point... ask for a Western Toilet.... I have been in a nice hotel only to have to change rooms, because these knees don't.... well you know Yup, I always make sure the hotels have a western toilet and heat/air conditioner...and elevator is nice too...In my experience they usually put the lao wai up in the higher altitudes. Even in our apartment building the elevator to my floor has been out for 18 months. We have an expression, "OIC"...Only in China.
  15. I have heard that if you send a copy of your marriage book to the agency and request a 2 year multi...they'll give it to you. I'm going to try it later this year. If it works you can be sure I'll crow about it here on CFL.
  16. Is it worth the time you spend there, Randy? Can you get a 2 year/multi entrance if you go in person? And you do save $40 or $50 by not using an agency...ZZ
  17. My travel day from the US to the PRC is usually 32 to 35 hours...the melatonin sure helps me get a few winks of sleep on the 777 and also helps after arrival to catch a few naps the first day. Da Baba likes it...
  18. Y'all have some great suggestions...the Chinese boil their water and countryside people drink hot water, and not tea. I learned not to drink the water in several countries here in America....buy it or boil it. "Jet Lag", is melatonin I think...I use it often and even at home...very cheap at drug stores and it works. You'll need an ink pen to fill out Immigration/Customs forms...or you can be like most travelers and borrow one....Ahhhh, the "WC", they are inexplicable even to the locals...no words can... ¡Buen Viaje! ZZ
  19. Sabastian, have you ever walked a visa through the PRC Consulate in Houston? I used an agency in WDC for the past 4 visas...they are excellent. ZZ
  20. The system is broken...we all need to send letters bitchin' to Barack. The last letter I wrote to my Senator (Martinez) bitching about the USCIS he wrote back assuring me thing will be much improved in the future because we are building a fence on the Mexican border. WTF!!!!
  21. There is some good cooking in Chengdu, but it could be a little spicy for you. So taking Tums is good advice. I have done a lot of traveling so for a long time I have packed a laxative and Imodium to cover all bases. Banks and casa de cambios around the world look at US money very closely...no marks, rips or to worn out...get some $100 bills that are pristine. There is an area of Chengdu they call Computer City where you can buy all of the components there are for rock bottom prices...and anything that can be copied to disc is sold. Have fun in the big city! ZZ
  22. This info is good to know and thank you for the .pdf ...ZZ
  23. I am sorry that you are experiencing this type of treatment...I have learned from traveling the planet that there are always a few envious people who take out their short-comings on the more helpless. I am a big guy and very Gringo looking so I am treated pretty well in the PRC. But I do get the fish eye and I'm sure folks make jokes behind my back, but I always try to smile and treat people cheerfully. I hope this person that harasses you will, get a life. And you can take some deep breaths...best of luck with the interview. ZZ
  24. So the instructions are out dated...not using Mesquite, TX anymore, ok. Thank you all very much for your help... ZZ
  25. They are two different applications, and you should not assume that anything in one can be made part of the other. The K-3 can even be shipped to a different consulate/embassy, if the marriage had taken place in a different country. I will use birth cert., marriage cert, g-325a, pics, a/l tickets, e-mails, etc...right? And you are saying I should send the I-129 to TX while my I-130 is now in CA? Thanx, Randy....ZZ
