  1. We had a similar situation and it took about a week from when DOS said it was mailed EMS to when it was actually mailed. Checking the tracking number provided by DOS before the actual mailing date returned "invalid number" error. Be patient! Todd
  2. Xilan is driving there as I type. She drove there yesterday to drop off the passports and back today to "get the results". I really don't understand since she said it will be another 2-3 days to get it in the mail. Todd
  3. Lots of posts on money INTO China, few or none on OUT of China. Maybe I am search-challenged.
  4. I apologize if this has been covered before, I tried searching and found nothing ... The question is on bringing or wiring funds from China when entering US on K-1 visa. I have heard limits of $5000 or $10,000 per year can be carried out of China. True? Will banks wire more? If so, what is a good bank to use? If I have documentation of wiring money there previously, can this amount be brought back on top of whatever other limits exist? I know that funds over $10,000 need to be declared with customs, I am not concerned with that. Mainly trying to understand what limitation exist on the Chinese side. Thanks, Todd
  5. Can we bring poer (SP?) tea (the papper wrapped 8" x 1" pucks) through customs or is it confiscated as agricultural. I think I know the answer, just hoping for a different answer. Todd
  6. Back in August, they asked Lan about pictures of her son as a baby also. They did not request any but we sent some anyway while stuck in administrative processing limbo.
  7. How to get updated info to the cfl timeline? I was using timelines.tk but seems that site it is abandoned now.
  8. Scott - I looked into this last year for my Garmin 750. The maps available in the US for China got poor reviews on every site I looked at. It said they were mainly for Beijing and tailored to visitors at the olympics. When I inquired in China, they said the maps available there would not work in a US market device. I was not able to find any hacks to solve that. Also, the maps available in China only had Chinese language. The same GPS costs 50-100% more in China, interesting since they are assembled there. Todd
  9. And so what if there is no reason on the blue slip? Just "wait and feel free to check back every few months for status". This seems to be the worst situation. No reason for non-approval. Not knowing what the issue is. And, no timeline to resolve whatever "it" is.
  10. Do you have any idea why they would call the beneficiary in for an interview if processing is not complete? Makes no sense to me.
  11. Not all the time. We were placed in indefinate limbo with a blue slip saying nothing more than administrative processing and to check back every few months for status.
