  1. Thank you very much, dnoblett, for you answer and suggestion. And thank you Trigg. You two have really given me a relief. And to se_lang: My mother's Receipt Notice came in only a little more than two weeks after she filed the I-751. If it has been 12 weeks and you are still waiting for the receipt, I recommend calling the USCIS to find out why it has taken so long. They make mistakes.
  2. Hello everybody. I know this might not be the right place for the question but I publish it here because it is urgent and I really can't find a better place for it. Here is the question: My mother filed the I-751 in April and then went back to China to take care of some important affairs. A few days after she left, the Receipt Notice (a document saying that the green card is extended for one year) was delivered. Because she has planned to come back in July and her conditional green card expires in June, we consulted with the attorney and she said it would be OK for her to come back with the expired green card accompanied by the Receipt Notice. So our original plan was easy: I send the receipt notice to her and she comes back with it. Now here is the confusing thing: I called the USCIS Customer Service just now and a representative said this: my mother should have received the Receipt Notice and brought it with her to a local USCIS office to get a stamp put on her passport, BEFORE leaving the US, so as to be able to reenter the US with the Receipt Notice, and otherwise, the Receipt Notice would be no good. So, what shall we do? Has anyone had similar experiences before? Thank you in advance for your answer! Will really appreciate it!
  3. Sorry about the title - it must be a little confusing, and let me clarify: If an American has married a Chinese woman, what is the relation between the Chinese woman's unmarried children and the American? Adopted children and stepfather? Or else? This question has arisen because during the interview, an applicant is asked to provide evidence of his or her relationship with the petitioner or other applicants. What evidence does the applicant have to provide if his or her mother, the petitioner's new spouse is applying for a CR1 and he or she is applying for a CR2? If there is a relation of adoption between the applicant and the petitioner as mentioned above, does he or she have to submit documents like adoption certificates? If so, is there an age level, applicants older than which don't need to provide such documents? If not, or, if there is not such a relation, what evidence does the applicant have to provide? Evidence of his or her relationship with his or her natural mother - the petitioner's new spouse? Or evidence showing that he or she is getting on well with the petitioner - his or her mother's new spouse? Or both kinds are needed? Thanks a lot.
  4. Dear USCONGUZ, There is some confusion about the Affidavit of support, and here are the questions. 1. As to a CR type application, if an I-864 for the applicant has already been submitted to the NVC by the petitioner (according to the CR1/CR2 procedure, this is usually before packet 3), does the applicant have to submit another I-864 during the interview? 2. If the petitioner has filed one petition for his new spouse to have a CR1 Visa and another petition for his new spouse's child to have a CR2 Visa - at the same time, does he have to prepare two sets of AoS supporting document for the applicants to take to the interview, that is, one set for each applicant? Or does he only have to prepare one set of the supporting documents for the two applicants, and this one set can be shared in the two cases during the visa process after the interview? If the former, are photocopies of supporting documents acceptable? Because a document, like a proof of the ownerships of assets, usually has one original copy. If acceptable, are original signatures of the petitioner required on the photocopies? Thank you in advance for your reply.
