  1. Mick, The INS in LA says you can only begin to file your renewal of the EAD within one month before the old one expires. I was in the same situation as Li 3 months ago. My EAD expires 5/12, and I submitted the renewal form and the $120 check in Febuarary. A week later, the file was rejected because they said that I must go there in person and file it one month before my EAD expires. No surprise! I should've got used to the INS style -- Say one thing and do another. So I had to take one day off from work and drive to INS very early in the morning. After waiting for several hours, they told me that it was their new rule, and that they COULD NOT locate my file! It was a long story. Anyway, I ended up making 4 trips to INS in 2 months and finally got things straight. The last time was with the help of a congressional person. INS finally was able to find my file and told me that I missed my interview for the green card. But Jesus Christ, they had never sent the interview letter to the correct address! 2 weeks after my last trip there, I received the green card in the mail. F-I-N-A-L-L-Y~! After all that, the only definition I can give INS is -- Incompetent And Stupid!
  2. Long time haven't logged on Candle due to my busy schedule (summer semester and moving), always wondering how you are doing. I'm so happy to see the good news as soon as I open the site. Hope everything else is going a OK for you!
  3. Thanks Littlebear. Glad things went so smoothly for you. As for myself, I am at my wits end. The Atlanta Center is notorious for ultra-slow processing, consistent mistakes, and foul up after foul up. We will keep plugging away. As it is, they tell us there is little possibility of being issued a SSN card until 60-90 days or longer. I wonder how they can be so efficient in California and so bumbling in Georgia. Since I have an EAD now, I should consider applying for a job in BCIS Atlanta Center. Won't it be helpful to you?
  4. I believe the process differs from one state to another. I also applied for AOS, EAD without my SSN. I received SSN in about 3 weeks, got the EAD and had the fingerprint appointment in less than 2 months.
  5. Sorry to hear that, Mick and Li. Your experience on BCIS surprised me a lot. I received my SSN the third week I got here. Actually, they finished my data entry in about 2 weeks, and it was done in Sacramento, CA. To my understanding, it should be a very quick process. Therefore there is no reason for them to hang up your case for more than 2 months. Don't listen to the nonsense of the morons. Maybe you need to talk to some higher level people in BCIS. Good luck!
  6. hehe...I took more than 20 rolls of films that day not including the pics in Digital camera. I will send u some if u meet me on msn. hehe.. what 's ur msn? My address: jltsun at hotmail dot com, will wait for you to add me.
  7. Xiao Mi, where are your beautiful wedding pictures?
  8. It's really great to see your beautiful pictures and happy smiles, Mick and Xiao Hua! 5 years waiting -- It's worthwhile, isn't it?
  9. Thanks Littlebear. Where did you go in Tennessee? We spent two nights in Knoxville and I met with Zeak's extended family members. They cooked us good home steaks and desserts. We also brought some big bags of food with us and let the whole plane passengers have a nice smell.
  10. Hey Mick, glad you and Li had a great trip! Zeak and I came back to CA from TN yesterday. Lovely green grass and trees gave me a nice feeling of the spring.
  11. I'm teaching Chinese every weekend too, and the school president didn't ask me for a SSN or EAD at all. I guess they are badly short of teachers. Glad to hear you are teaching Chinese Littlebear. I am sure that you find that a rewarding experience. It is good to hear from you. Please stay in touch. Sure! And thank you for your Easter card Mick and Li! B)
  12. How much singing and dancing have you learned from her, Owen?
  13. I'm teaching Chinese every weekend too, and the school president didn't ask me for a SSN or EAD at all. I guess they are badly short of teachers.
  14. It's a good joke! Hey, Happytexen, email GZ and ask about your visa status in 3 months, you may still get the same reply.
  15. There is a Chinese saying "Po Cai Xiao Zai", meaning if you loose something, you will get your luck. Like me, I lost my cell phone just before the visa came to me. So take it easy Mick, beautiful life with your beautiful lady is waiting on you. Yes, I'm glad for you!
  16. I did call the 800 number this week and asked that question. The lady on the phone told me that I didn't need to mail the vaccination report. And I mailed my forms to BCIS this afternoon without that vaccination form in. I guess we have to wait and see what happens.
  17. I don't think the vaccination is needed now until BCIS tells you to do so before the interview. I'm filing the AOS forms now and I also asked BCIS this question. By the way, I didn't have any vaccination in China as far as K-1 process is concerned.
  18. Littlebear, Go visit the Getty Center (Museum) and you can get a view of the city. The flowers in the facility should be very pretty too. Also, take a 3 hr drive to San Diego. You will be able to see beautiful wild purple flowers on the hill side. Southern California is full of green now. Once summer is here, it will be brown and dry. North of Ventura, you can visit Solvang CA (a Danish town). I did live in Southern California (Torrrance, CA) for 4 years. You are right. We plan to drive to San Diego in the Spring Break. I can't miss the dolphins there.
  19. BIG CONGRATULATIONS Tony! Hope that your fiancee comes to the US soon soon soon!
  20. Congratulations! Liyan and you must be very tired but excited. And the first week back to the US life will be just so busy. Haha, have fun!
  21. I travelled from Suzhou to L.A. and now our home is in Ventura, which is 60 miles north of L.A.. The spring scenery here is gorgeous. I'm sure you enjoy the ocean and the green hill sides and mountains in your trip.
  22. HAPPY THAT YOU LIKE IT HERE ! We got married the same day by the way Good to know that we are on the same page. Afer this we are going to start the AOS long process.
  23. We are glad for you Mick and Li! How long will you be in L.A.? If it's just a short transfer, we sure hope that we can meet some time in the US in the future. I feel excited just to think of our candle reunion some day.
  24. I arrived at L.A. airport on the 16th, and have been on the move every since. We got married in Las Vegas on the 18th. The sky is so blue, the air is so clean, the ocean is so vast, trees are green, flowers are blooming... We are the happiest bears in the California sunshine! I have been travelling a lot this week, just thinking about the miles I've covered. I'm glad I can share my happiness with you on this forum. I will have more to tell because I know a brand new life is waiting on me on this land.
