  1. Be sure to "cancel" reservations for any unused airline tickets, before the flight. If the tickets are re-usable (likely with a fee), but you do not cancel the reservations, some airlines consider it a forfeiture of the ticket and will not allow you to use the ticket on a future flight. Good luck!
  2. For those of you monitoring the California USCIS website, it updated last night, effective April 10, 2006. You will be pleased to read that California is now purportedly processing K1's for January 13, 2006. Of course, keep in mind that it has been purportedly processing K1's for December 31, 2005, for the last three updates (since February).
  3. I am really sorry to read the problems you are encountering. Hang in there!
  4. At Shanghai, cost three months ago was about 1,400 RMB for birth, divorce and police notarials and English translations, complete, for SO only (no children).
  5. That is a very good price for a short notice non-stop flight on SA from SFO to HKG. I fly it each month and the best price I have ever seen for UA is about $700 (on the nonstop flights), but SA is usually about $100-200 more expensive than UA. Congratulations and good luck!
  6. If you can't find cheap airfare to Guangzhou, have you considered r/t by air to HKG (which has cheap airfare), then by land to Guangzhou? Take the A43 airbus from HKG airport (follow the signs in the terminal to the airbus terminal downstairs) to Fanling (Luen Wo Hui) (HK$28). Takes about 40 minutes and runs every 40 minutes or so. The A43 starts at HKG and ends at Fanling, so you can't get lost. At Fanling, the bus drops you off at the KCR East train station. Take KCR East train one stop to Lo Wu border crossing. (About HK$25 and a five minute ride. Again, you would have to work to get lost.) Walk through passport control (Hong Kong departure, China arrival) and as you leave the building, the Shenzhen train station is on your left (a huge sign in English). The train to Guangzhou leaves about every hour, cost is less than 50 RMB and train takes maybe an hour. Total travel time from HKG by bus and train to Guangzhou is about 3 hours. Total cost about US$15. If you want really cheap airfare from LAX to HKG, consider a courier flight with Jupiter Air (http://www.jupiterair.com/courier/courierflights.html) ... about $250-350 r/t, but the JAL flight used to arrive at HKG to late to clear Lo Wu customs ... you might have to sleep in the airport until morning.
