  1. One more quick question about the NBC: On thier Processing Dates page, they have dates for I-765 & I-131 BUT not for I-485... Seems odd. Is the NBC doing the AOS decission making, or was it sent off to a service center or local office? Our EAD, AOS, & AP all have a MSC#. Thanks
  2. I just found out that MSC isn't the Misouri Service Center...it's the National Benefits Center(NBC) like Castaway109 said, but I overlooked...
  3. Kim, I'm so happy for you guys. We all know what a pain in the neck the process can be, but I'm sure once you get the card, it'll all be worth it. :-)
  4. I got an answer to my question by way of a "Request for Initial Evidence"... From Chaicago, our papers went to Lee's Summit, MO.
  5. Hi, Sent the AOS, AP, and EAD to the Chicago Lock box and they got it on July 5th. To check the processing dates on-line, which center should I look at? Thanks
  6. Gang, Thanks for the quick, info-packed responses!! I've found CFL to be a great place full of great, helpful people... So, if I put 2 and 2 together from above, i get that her ID will expire before she gets the AOS... right? The guy at the DMV only gave her an ID until August because that's when the I-94 expires... but it takes longer than that for the AOS to go through, right? Ideas?? Past Experience?? You're all wonderful!
  7. Hi. Had our wedding on Saturday and the marriage license is on record at the court house. We have her Social Security Number but not card (still 10 days away they said). Went and got a State ID Card (South Dakota)... but it's only good till August because her I-94 Expires then... I guess my questions is: After the wedding, does anything magically change with her status? After getting the SS#, what's the next step? I know we need to apply for AOS and EAD and AP... but what's the wait on those? After the wedding, is she still on a K1 Visa? Is Aug our expiration date? What documents do we need? Ok, it was more than one question, but only a fraction of the questions floating around in my head... Thanks for any input and advice...!
  8. Thanks for all of the input! So, basically I've learned: a)if it's under $10,000 each... no need to file b)if it's OVER $10,000, just fill out the papers and declare... (no major hassles) One final question: If I fill out the form, who do I give it to? Thanks again for the advice/input!!
  9. Hey gang, We're just a few days away from making the move to the US. We've got some cash that we want to bring into the states, but it's over the $10,000 limit. I know that over that, you're supposed to claim it. I've downloaded the correct paperwork for it, but I'm still not clear. 1) At the airport, do I go through the 'Something to declare' line? 2) Will they TAX the money? (I earned it in China (legally) and have filed taxes from China for the past 3 years. 3) If I don't declare it, what are the chances I'll be stopped? Thanks to anyone who knows more than me and responds!!
  10. It's all good stuff.. But, I too, am wondering about the legal process of changing names... My SO goes by the name Mel, and I think she wants to change it to Mel (followed by MY last name). We are K1, and will get married in a couple of months... Any info would be great!!
  11. We JUST went through this whole thing last week. We didn't include the CITIC payment slip in the Medical packet, and i don't think you NEED to. But, if you're worried about it, you can go to the big CITIC bank on the corner near the Friendship Store and pay the 810 RMB (it's changed from 830, and don't know why). Good Luck!
  12. Our K1 Visa intervew is set for March 23, which is a Thursday. Do you think we'll have to wait in GZ till Monday to pick up the Visa (if we get it) or is there any chance we could pick it up on Friday? I need to plan my work schedule... Thanks for any input!!
  13. Feel free to add us to the list... We've got a March 23rd date... Got the P4 on Jan 28th... New Year's Eve!!! Hope the Year of the Dog is kind to all CFL member!!
  14. Gang, Thanks for the input!! It's very cool having a community of people out there in Cyber-Land all willing to lend a hand and share! I'll be using several of your ideas!
  15. I've been living in China for about 3 years. And been with yingying for over 2 of those years. We started the K1 process over 9 months ago, and at this point we're just waiting for the P4. The two of us have been living together for over a year. We have a TON of pictures detailing our relationship... but we're lacking emails, phone records, tickets, and the usual stuff that I've been reading others have taken to GuangZhou with them for the interview... Is ours a common situation? I think most people who live in China just get married here and then apply for a K3... but we, for some reason, decided to go to the States for the wedding... Basically, my question is: a)Are we going to be in trouble because of living together in China for a long time and ONLY having pictures to prove our relationship b)What other things should we bring to prove our relationship?
