  1. Dear all, A friend visited me last weekend from the US. She told me my spouse doesn't have to wait for 5 years to apply for US citizenship. He could start filing 3 years after he gets his Greencard since I'm a USC. Is that true? Thanks.
  2. Thank you all for your response and precious advices. I'm on CR-1, my P3 was sent to me by NVC I guess, not by GUZ. I've done P3 already. Now I'm waiting for P4.
  3. I assume the "nine months" starts from the day I called DOS last week. Part of the conversation is something like this: I asked "how long it's gonna take GUZ to issue my interview letter?" She answered "another nine months."
  4. Dear all, I called DOS last week to check my case status. The lady told me my case has been completed and sent to GUZ on 9/21. I knew that already by calling NVC last month. I asked her if there is any other information, like name check. She said name check has been completed too, what I can do now is to wait for interview letter. I was pretty happy to hear that. I asked her the estimate time to wait. Guess what she answered? NINE MONTHS. Geez.... I asked why it's taking so long. She said it's due to GUZ overload. Is 9 months a normal time range? Does anyone know? Thanks.
  5. Sisters, thanks for the advices. About the evidence to prove my tie to the US, could the birthday card that my parents sent me be one? How about the emails from my parents/brother/friends? I don't know where to dig out my bank statements or phone bills etc since I've moved to China for more than 2 years.
  6. Yes, living with my hubby in China is a good point at interview, but it creates another problem, the VO might ask how we could support our living in the US after moving back there, since I don't have a job in China nor the US. Any CFL sisters had the same problem?
  7. I'm an American woman married to a Chinese man. I have the same worry too. I've lived in China with my husband and his parents for more than 2 years. We got married 1 and 1/2 year ago. Now we're in the process of waiting for P4. Please give me any advice on interview. Thanks alot.
  8. For the port of entry, do we pick one or it's assigned to us? My home base is NJ. I want my SO get in from Newark or JFK. Have anyone of us been through these two ports?
  9. What number she called for the information? I would like to try.
  10. My understanding is that they check you in the US and your SO in China.
  11. To find out my interview date, should I call DOS or NVC or both? I'm still confused with the functional differences between DOS and NVC. Could anyone explain? Thanks!!
  12. These five packages are all over 5 lbs., around 9 to 13 lbs each. I hope mine is in the 23th package, it's delivered. The other four are still "at gateway" or "on hand". I email GUZ again to see if my case is there yet... no response.
  13. I found one for each day (9/21, 22, 23, 26, and27). Status as follow: 9/21 at gateway on 9/26 9/22 at gateway on 9/26 9/23 delivered on 10/11 9/26 on hand 9/30 9/27 at gateway on 10/8 How come the 9/23 item is so fast? it's even faster then the ones on 9/21 and 22.
  14. I just checked with the DHL webpage. My completion date at NVC is 9/21. So I checked the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 26th (24 and 25 were weekend). I found 4 items are going to GUZ. I wonder what means "at gateway", "on hand". Thanks for answering.
  15. I called NVC today. My case was completed on 9/21 and forwarded to GUZ. I think it's in somewhere between NVC and GUZ, because GUZ couldn't answer my question "Did my case reach GUZ yet?"
  16. I emailed GUZ to see if my case reached Guangzhou yet. They replied telling me to call the 400 number, and instruct me to buy a phone card for 36 RMB per 8 minutes. I thought they would answer my question directly and be straight forward... Yes, your case is here already.... no, your case is not here yet...
  17. My husband asked me not to worry too much about it. We're still in the process, and it's hard to say if we can pass the interview and get the visa. He believes God will prepare everything for him if it's God's will for him to move to the US. Thank you all for your kindness.
  18. You two would treasure each other more because of the long wait.
  19. What's exactly in P3? I guess I have it done already because the lawyer said he sent out my final documents (like I-864) on August 2.
  20. Thanks pkfops, warpedbored and Gene. Does it mean I pass the P3 stage and is waiting for P4? Thanks.
  21. Hi all, My dad just told me my lawyer gave him a message with a GUZ number. Dad said it's my case number. But I did got a case number before, it starts with EAC. What's the GUZ number for? Thanks.
  22. I guess most members in this forum are American husbands. After reading the topic started by Leefisher about the adjustment we have to make for our international marriage, I've thought alot for my husband. Most of you have a Chinese wife. I guess it's easier for a woman to adopt to a new culture/environment/lifestyle than a man does. My husband is a businessman with technical skills on IT and medical. He owns a company. He has a wealthy family background. He quitted college and started a business. He's willing to leave China and move to the US for me and our next generations. He speaks English, but not so well. Any suggestion on what he could do after moving to the US? Am I too selfish? Why does he have to give up everything for me? Why can't I stay here for him? I've been asking myself lately.
  23. I saw a guy spitting on the floor at Guangzhou new airport check-in lobby, and he stepped on it. Why couldn't he spit on a tissue and wrap it and dump it into the trash can? I saw a woman throw up from a taxi, everything was stuck on the taxi door and then dropped on the road. I understand she might be sick or not feel good while taking any transportation, but why couldn't she prepare a plastic bag before going out, she should know her own situation. These disgusted me alot. Another issue, do you know why most restrooms in China do not have toilet paper? Because Chinese people would take it home. Same to the napkins, ketchup, pepper, salt and refill coke in McDonald and KFC. Demand is much greater than supply. At where I'm living, the management office decorated for mid-autumn festival with lanterns couple days ago. Last night, I found the lanterns were gone. I was wondering what happened to those lanterns, the mid-autumn festival was not even here yet, why the office took them back. Guess what? The kids took the lanterns home with their parents' assistance. Today, I saw the management people put some lanterns on again. Tonight, when I went walking my dog, the lanterns were gone again. What the... These "cultures", as I said before, are due to poor education.
  24. If your wife is in the US, go to the your town's public library to sign up for a free-of-charge English tutor. The tutor could be Chinese if your town has a large Chinese population and if you request a Chinese one. If your wife is in China, I hope the city she's living has YWCA as Guangzhou does. I'm teaching there. They normally meet twice a week, almost 2 hours per class, the course lasts 16 weeks. They charge from 200 to 400 RMB each course depending on the course level.
