  6. i'm a member of a local group of expats and english speaking chinese that meet weekly here in CQ (ChongQing) for english discussion of various topics. Bo and Wang have been on the menu for awhile now. After Wang's problems began to develop he posted a scathing letter denouncing Bo via the internet just prior to his trip to Chengdu. the authorities were obviously watching him for he was detained immediately after leaving the consulate. unofficial reports say he is ungoing "psychological evaluation". as for Bo he is certainly popular for the most part here. when i 1st came to CQ in 07' the city's metropolitan population was around 3.2 million. it's allegedly over 7 now with Bo's stated goal of 1 million added a year. construction is crazy, money pouring into infrastructure primarily to the north although the older penisula currently has 2 more bridges under construction with new housing replacing old constantly. the changes in CQ in merely 5 years are remarkable. as a sadder note it's disturbing to see how CQs management has ignored their structural heritage. of the city's original 18 gates built mostly during the Ming dynasty, only 8 remain. you can see evidence of the walls from them all over older YuZhong, but they have been built upon numerous times and aren't being protected.
  7. Idiot extraordinary... next... i normally remain in the background, content to read and glean what knowledge i can from the wealth of experience that exists here. the unselfish contribution of these individuals to those new to the process is enheartening. you know who you are. it's discouraging to see the opposite.
  8. not to distract from the original topic....i arrived CN in July on a L visa, 1 year, multiple entry, 90 day term. applied local PSB for residence permit and was issued another L visa, 1 year, multiple entry, NO TERM. wife and I married 4 years.
  9. This post from a local expat club. It's where i found the original report. "The Walmart CEO was in Chongqing during the October break with a contingent of Asian Management staff. How do I know this? They breezed past me while I was shopping for new household items on one of my very rare visits to the store in Jiangbei. He later spent some time at the CAIC office in Jiangbei which is the department responsible for Industry and Commerce compliance and Customer complaints. How do I know this I was in my local Police station following the holiday to register my change of address, under the same jurisdiction as my local Walmart when a police officer came into the office and mentioned Walmart. This began a conversation with my new landlady who just happens to work for CAIC and is where I now reside. I told her I had seen him ( a CEO), and she confirmed he had been hauled over the coals about the situation here in CQ regarding the not-so-organic pork meat. However they are not the only supermarkets being duped in this matter but a company like Walmart should be observing Due Diligence when is comes to 'organically grown' products in a country that produces so little of this type. There are other supplies of quality meat but there is no way to check how it is raised. .............. Bon Apetite" Rumor that the closings are 15 days.
  10. AP ¨C Mon, Oct 10, 2011 SHANGHAI (AP) ¡ª Wal-Mart has been ordered to temporarily close some stores in the Chinese city of Chongqing and to pay 2.7 million yuan ($421,000) in fines following an investigation into the mislabeling of tons of regular pork as "organic." The retail giant said Monday in a statement that Chongqing police had detained some of its employees over what has been dubbed the "green pork" incident. It apologized to shoppers for any inconvenience and said it was cooperating with authorities. Wal-Mart has 10 stores and two affiliates in Chongqing, a massive metropolis of 32 million people in western China. The company said it was ordered to close some of its stores in the city, but did not say exactly how many. State media reported all 12 stores were temporarily closed.
  11. AVG. American Volunteer Group. Yes they were all former US military (had to resign their commissions to fight for the Chinese). There is a museum here in Chongqing dedicated to them.

  17. Rick, read my timeline (K3) to get a feel for the return process. While it's a year old it may give you some idea as to the process. Sorry for your delay. Good luck.
  18. Congratulations!!!! We wish all the best for you. for the life of me though, all those flags.....perhaps it is true, the belief of the luck of the draw....just seems inconsistent.... the primary issue being bonafide, she convinced them...smart woman....lucky man! Good Luck!!
  19. K3 I-130 was sent back to USCIS (April 09) after file was returned from GUZ. I had intended to activate the I-130 but the NVC sent it back 3 months before it expired. My protests fell on deaf ears. My cover letter for the CR1 referenced the NOIR yes. The supporting material for the petition was a virtual duplicate of the evidence submitted responding the NOIR. I did not include the entire discourse.
  20. USCIS has ruled on the NOIR from July. Following is from an email received Dec 2. "On December 2, 2009, we mailed a notice to you reaffirming the approval of this case and returned the case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly." As we have an IR-1 being processed by NVC now, what can I expect?
