  1. You guys make me so worried. We just sent out the rescheduling letter. What should we do now? Is it too late to change our mind? Regarding the address changing, we were advised not to do so by an officer during biometrics appointment. I don't know what to do. What if they do cancel the application, do you have some back up plans? ·³·³·³£¡£¡£¡
  2. April 2nd will be a Thursday. He has full days of classes on Wednesday and Thursday. I don't know. Apparently law school is not that easy to catch up with if you miss so many classes in a row. Plus he pays like 100 bucks per class. I don't know. I think his school is more important. However, i didn't apply for AP. I am really in a dilemma! We are writing a letter to change the time to either May-Aug or Dec-Jan now. Hopefully it will work during the first period while we are back in WA for summer vacation.
  3. As I thought, it was an interview date letter set on April 2nd. I am not happy about it. We'll have to change it. Don't know how long it is going to take but there is nothing else we can do. Does anybody have any suggestion on this?
  4. I don't think you will have to go with him to the biometrics appointment. My husband went with me but he was not needed at all. He will just have to fill out a form and then take the fingerprints and will be taken a picture. That's all!
  5. What is RFE? Does welcome letter mean you've got the GC or what? I can't wait to find out! Stupid weekend!
  6. Hey guys, My mother-in-law said she got an mail from homeland security today but she didn't open it before she sent it out to us.(we are living in Vermont and our permanent address is in WA). I am curious what it could be? GC interview appointment letter? I checked it on USCIS website case status but there is no update. What if the interview is set up in a month or before the mid of May which we will not be able to make it because my husband and I are studying and working in VT, can we change the time to whenever we want like between May and the end of Aug because we will be back home at that time period for summer vacation? Thanks! Joanna
  7. Excellent news! Congrats! Wish we are as lucky.
  8. Where is the small town? I am going to move there.B) Sounds everyone knows everybody's everything in this town. I like it how he put a welcome sign on the street for four days. What a nice treatment for new comers. You too have a great Valentine's day! Joanna
  9. Thanks! I have another quick question. On I-9 form. "I attest, under penalty, that I am what. Am I a lawful permanent resident or an alien authorized to work until..... ? My greencard is pending BTW.
  10. After 3 months painful waiting, my work card finally arrived today. And I am here to share my happiness with everyone. In the past 1.5 months, I've been working as an Independent contractor translator and interpreter. I haven't got paid a penny yet. That's kind of how we worked out to work for them legally. Get paid all together after I obtain the card. haha... going to be a big check!!! Today I went to applied for another part-time job in a daycare center. Everything sounds good and I am supposed to start my work soon. My question are: 1)The boss didn't mention the wage and I was not sure whether it is appropriate for me to ask? 2) How much do you guys think I will get paid an hour to work in daycare center? I am sure we will figure this out soon but out of curiosity. Thanks in advance! Joanna
  11. not a bit problem. It has nothing to do with the boss. She doesn't need the boss approval. All she needs is to use her free time and go to the right place with 200RMB. That's it! Don't worry!
  12. Just read similar situation on 001. Apparently VO asked for 2008 tax returns and W2.
  13. Well, It really depends on how they deal with your case. It took someone here a year to receive GC after biometrics. My biometrics was done on Dec 30 and I was just informed of EAD ordered info. You may want to call and check out with them in case they forget about yours. Who knows!
  14. Works for me. Actually I was just informed by USCIS website that my EAD card is ordered. Hooray!!! I wonder how long it will normally take to receive the card actually.
  15. You gotta to be kidding me! That will kill me! I didn't apply for AP!
  16. I am a rat but good things happen to me all together in 2008. I found my love, got a job, passed the visa interview and moved to live with my husband for no problem. But we do have the superstition that on your benmingnian---birth year marked by animal cycle, you need to get red stuff to get rid of the bad luck like wearing red socks, red underwear... and you are not supposed to get married on your benmingnian, otherwise it will bring you bad luck. I believe it is just a coincidence. No matter what, Rat year is gone for a while. This OX year will bring you a good luck!
  17. The vegetable and fruits? Yes, to my understanding!
  18. This is what my husband explained to me: the vegetable or fruits here are organic. It sounds that organic food needs not to be washed. But i wash everything before I cook it. Another phenomenon, when I just arrived here, I was so not used to drinking the water directly from the tap. In China at least where I come from, you either drink the water from the purified water or cook the water before you drink. We are taught drinking the water directly from the tap will make you sick.
  19. I feel it is too good. I finished watching that TV series two months ago and I began to be more interested in his life and the more I searched for it, the more contradictory it is. I mean his real life and the life in the TV show. For example, in the TV series, when Bruce lee just arrive in San Franscico, he worked in a Ruby's Chinese restaurant. There was a Taiwanese girl had a crush on him and seduced him several times but Bruce lee refused. Meanwhile, in another Bruce lee movie described by his wife Linda, he did have sex with the girl. I just think the TV series beautify him a lot! His life is legend. Kinda of sad to think that he died that young. He is Chinese pride.
  20. I believe reference letters will be fine. Ask the boss to write you a reference letter and put it in a sealed envelope. That's how I did. But the VO didn't ask for any though.
  21. I took a flight from Shanghai to Atlanta in the middle of September., Everything was fine!
  22. Sorry, I don't really understand your point. I have SSN.
  23. Hi Steve, It was so so funny to see this post because just a few days ago my husband and I happened to discuss about this topic. I haven't started working yet so I cook most of the time, of course Chinese food mainly. I find him never touch his bowl when he eats and he eats cai--dishes and rice separately. So I taught him the same way me and your wife do. He explained to me later that it is kinda of rude to place your bowl close to your mouth and make noises with the chopsticks while inhaling the food from the bowl. And I was told that the elbows are not supposed to touch the table either when we attend a formal dinner. So I think it is quite common to eat the way your wife does in China nowadays. Women today have much looser etiquette in China. In my grandparents generation or great grandparents', women were required to be more gentle, femaline which meant they were not supposed to eat loudly or fast.
  24. Normally business stoppage commences on the first day of Spring festival which will happen on Jan 25th this year.
