  1. uh huh... and what does your wife say?....... ;)

Taiwan is a Province of the PRC but They are Foreigners

Not sure if she'd say that they're foreigners, but that pretty well sums up the P.R.C. attitude.

The article is about the view from the other side of the strait.

    Why do you ask?

just wondered because my Lady says that Taiwan is China's and won't hear anything about it being otherwise, I am amused by this with her

  2. Yep, Haven't watched TV in four years and don't miss it a bit, it even has my son out side more playing sports so I'd say no TV is healthy, the funny thing is we don't even miss it, don't own a Tv , my son plays xbox 360 with an old monitor and even then he only plays for maybe an hour a day if that.

I get more reading done this way to and all the chores are done for the day and I still have time to kill.

Had Direct Tv, your right about one thing Ron, I couldn't find anything to watch with 150 or so channels, never could figure that out, you'd have thonk there woulda been somethin worth watchin on one of them channels.

  3. The weekend before my friend, his wife and there daughter were at my home for a bar b que, he told me he had changed his flight with a co worker so he could take his wife out for thier anniversary when he got back after September 11, his flight was hijacked, he was the co-pilot of flight # 93, today I returned from Shanksville with his wife and daughter after I placed a flag at the base of that cold piece of marble, his wife left a white rose and his 14 year old daughter left her tears, I miss my friend but not as much as they do.

I'll never forget you, and I'll never forgive them for what they did.

  4. here in Quakertown, Pa., my basement hasa foot and a half of water in it, the street was under about mid thigh with water, got up this morning and the street is dry, I mean bone dry, shame I can't say the same about my basement, oh and the inside of my car is soaked, seats and all.

  5. I had posted this on that other site so I may as well post it here also, I give you all this quote " I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.¡± ¡ª Martin Luther King Jr

as someone that had buried a name after the 9/11 attack on the twin towers, I finally can put this to rest, as an American I am happy it is done with Osama, as a human and a member of mankind I can not help but feel remorse for all the loss of life.

I had meant not just the loss of his life because I think he should have been kept alive so he could have suffered for the rest of his life in a prison cell, but also for those that have lost thier lives in Washington,D.C., a field in Pa, and those that were in and around and that came to help the twin towers also those men and women that have given thier all for this country, this being said, as an American I am happy Osama is gone from this earth, as a relative of one gone with the towers, I weep for them, but as a Buddist I feel that all mankind should start to live together withpout wars and that all people have a right to live, when one person dies the rest of humanity should morn the loss, we are given life for only a very short time and what we do with it is up to us to decide, but why waste it in fighting and hate, wouldn't it be better to live in peace and kindness for all.

I am also aware that I do not live in a world like that dream so I must contend as best I can with this world.

    Buddha bless.

  6. I really don't like this setting back the clock, then in the spring, turn the clock forward, it's :bullshit: i tell you, this is to keep us to messed up in the head to remember what GUZ is doing to some of us and that is :horsehit: to.

If China can manage with a country that size on one time zone then we can manage with a set time ( only one ) for the whole year, then again I guss I'm just :dsheep: a dead sheep.

Have any of you tried to explane this to your S.O. in China?, I have and let me tell you, she isn't dump buuuttt, it's easier to pull teeth. :roller:

( edited to add) I tell her, she listens, then she ask's "Why ", I tell her, she listens, then she asks " Why ", do you see where this is going?, now I have a head ache, need Willow bark, agggggghhhhhhh

  7. ... Yeah. Everything in America is bad. China is also bad, but God help me if I say that.

It's cute how her nationalism also sparks up when she's been watching Chinese TV on the internet. She recently watched a series of shows about Bruce Lee (produced by CCTV). It essentially portrayed Bruce Lee as a Chinese mystic who came to America and taught American college professors about the glories of Chinese thinking and culture. Which is slightly different from the story I remember about a guy who came here fleeing the Hong Kong mob and then sold out his religion to make money in Hollywood finally dying of a prolonged drug overdose. I suppose those were particularly esoteric Raybans he used to wear? My girl was spikey with pro-China feeling for a week.

I find the "love-hate" relationship that most Chinese have with China fascinating...

    and slightly annoying.

It's funny how Chinese and Americans can be so a like sometimes. Both love their countries, warts and all.

Try having a rational discussion with your Chinese spouse about Taiwan or Tibet.

Now your just looking for a fight so you can go hang with the boys ( it works well to) :horsehit:

    edited for spacing

  8. It's always happened and always will. The difference is that in the old days there was no media coverage to glorify the killer and trigger copycat events. Fortunately, China will take care of this matter; unfortunately, we are too cowardly to do what is right in the US.

I agree with you 100% on this, we have convicted murderers that live in prisons for 10 to 20 years or longer before they are executed, we should take a lesson from China in cases like this.
