  1. In an e-mail Elis (not USCIS) reply to a non-address related issue I received this today: "If you need to update your address only the applicant may do so and MUST complete BOTH steps below: Complete an AR-11 address update by:Selecting https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do. Use your Alien Registration Number, NOT your USCIS ELIS Receipt Number. You will be asked if your change of address is for an application or petition currently in progress. Select “NO” and continue as directed. Create a Change of Address service request by:Contact the USCIS ELIS Customer Contact Center by clicking on the “Email Us For Help” link located at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/contactusPlease provide the following information for all applicants: • Full names (including ALL other names ever used); • Date of birth; • Current Address; • Previous Address; • A-File number(s); and • Receipt number(s). Please be advised that a USCIS Immigration Services Officer will call you (the applicant), in order to verify your identity prior to changing the address. We hope this information is helpful. Sincerely," My emphasis on this part "a USCIS Immigration Services Officer will call you (the applicant), in order to verify your identity prior to changing the address." And here is good place to remind about this. Our A#- is only 8 digits long. The fill in the blanks for A#s are all 9 boxes long. The solution is that you must enter a '0' (Zero not Oh) in the first box.
  2. I focused on the last paragraph: "Yan Lixian, head of the pension division at the social security ministry, said that retirees-whether they have changed their nationality or received a green card in other countries-will definitely be able to claim their pensions from China's social security funds." Should this go on to say 'for now.' ?? changed Nationality and can still collect. got a green card and can still collect. Try to convince some of the wives about the first part.

  4. Once my wife became agent for her parents we used my e-mail for all things electronic. Electronic e-mail communications from NVC, USCIS, Travel Docs and GUZ went to the agent, meaning us. Initially, I used her e-mail for the in-laws but it turned out to not be relevant. I later used my e-mail address for everything and everyone. However, I still used the in-laws physical address in China to fill in the address blanks for all official documents. It's where they live, afterall. And, I kept using the same, original, address even if they moved. confusion on the invoice? you are signing in to the Invoice site, so you do have an Invoice Number with a message that says "not invoiced?" That seems truly governmentese. try calling them. Got it now. I mean our original invoice, dated June 2011. Therefore, time from Invoice to payment is definitely irrelevant since I waited 4 years to pay it.
  5. Yep, it's a long post. I'll read it and digest it slowly. I agree with the concept that miles CC are better (for us) than 1% or even 2% cash back. We also just earned a r/t USA-Shanghai between May and July of this year. It began with a United Airlines pre-screened (means limited offer) offer of 50,000 miles plus 5,000 for adding an authorized user with qualified net spending in 3 months. A few purchases later including tickets plus 1 x tickets points got us over 70,000. Actual dollars spent on the ticket? $43. Next up- Citi AA (also a pre-screened offer) of 75,000 miles with qualifying purchases in 3 months. Most of these cards now have an exclusion that prohibits receiving any bonus if you had the bonus or the card in the last 18 months. Therefore, because the last United Miles card was in the wife's name I'll next get the next one in my name. Of course, foregoing the standard 30,000 mile offer and wait for the pre-screened 50,000 mile offer.
  6. Are you signing in here to check status? https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx Because they ask for this: Enter the Invoice Identification Number that was provided by the NVC. I don't recall how long getting the invoice ID Number took. Our case stretched from 2011 to 2015 for non-governmental reasons. so timelines are a little vague. The implication seems to be that the NVC has not yet sent you an Invoice number.
  7. As Dan stated above, you must have the Interview Appointment letter in hand to be given a medical exam. No, you cannot do the medical in advance of that document in hand. You must take into account the possibility that during the medical exam, particularly the x-ray, the testing may include a 3-day wait for TB tests results. Heavy emphasis on may. If you don't leave enough time and then they require a 3 day TB test well, plan accordingly. Have all your medical paperwork filled out in advance of going to the medical. Go early on your chosen day, they will check your documents. If everything is in order, including your possession of 8 passport photos, you will be given a number and told to sit down and wait. There are a limited number of numbers given out these days. (At least as of July 2015) The USCIS encourages you to "...call the approved medical facility of your choice in advance of your arrival for a medical in order to make the proper arrangements..." or, words to that effect.
  8. It is sometimes possible to select seats on the day you first purchase the ticket. If that option is not available to you, what I have done in the past is to call the airlines reservation telephone number and request seat assignment over the phone. I cannot recall a case where we could not select seats right away. However, I am not a regular AA traveler, soon wiil be though, right after they give me 75,000 miles next month. I understand that Delta's new super saver economy ticket's policy does not include seat assignment until check-in, perhaps even not until boarding.
  9. I just filed the I-864 and I-864A, let's say it was April 2015. Takes a little time, but not so much. And, they only ask for 1 year's tax transcript, which I gave them. About 10 days go by and then I get an e-mail stating "We are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents received. We expect it will be at least 60 days from the date we received your mail before we complete the review of your documents. We will notify you when we review your documents. We are working to reduce these processing times and we appreciate your patience." Then, a couple weeks later, I get another e-mail- 'we have processed your documents but we need (fill in the blank)". What's the worst case? You decide to do the I-864ez (presumably to save time) and they decide it's not enough money. Begin the 90 day wait loop. Or, you spend some time now, pull out what few hairs you have left and file the complete I864 and I864a. Which is worse? Or, they accept the EZ form as is and your all done. And, don't forget to click on all those tabs. If you don't, you won't see this for example- "How should I identify the scan files I create? Each scan file must be named as it is created. Choose a file name that includes the following information: Your NVC case number; The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; andThe document name or form number. For example: ABC2009123456_John_Doe_DS-3032.pdfABC2009123456_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf" And there is the fine print- submit all documents in one submission. "...or your case may be delayed..." good luck with whatever you decide.
  10. Whoa. Stop the horses. Slow down.... Are you asking what items to submit for the Visa Application or are you still only referrring to Passport Delivery? None of that stuff you listed is required for Passport Delivery. I do not know from first hand experience regarding either manual filing or Passport CITIC Bank Pick Up. We filed everything electronically and we used the Premium delivery service to the address we gave them online. However, the webpage states: "Required Documents for Passport Retrieval To collect your passport you must present your original (not a photocopy) government-issued photo ID. We strongly recommend you also bring a printed copy of your appointment letter that contains your UID number." You may review the entire article here: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-niv-passporttrack.asp Therefore, it would seem the answer to your question is "No" if the question is directed at Passport Delivery.
  11. As for the adjusted gross income versus individual income. When the Form asked for Individual Income I entered that person's sole income, not the adjusted gross income. Where the form I 864A asked for "Item Number 2. Current Individual Annual Income. Enter your current individual earned or retirement annual income that you are using to meet the requirements of this contract and indicate the total on this line." The number I entered (based on the statement '..that you are using to meet the requirements...' exceeded the Tax Form Total Income and Adjusted Gross income because I have non-taxable sources of income that were explained separately. If your only income is from W-2 that's too easy, use it.
  12. So, taking it one at time. Seems you are not eligible for an EZ form. See the Table above. Unless you file using only your wife's W-2.
  13. Well, I got that wrong (above) and couldn't edit it in time. I copied the wrong box. sigh.
  14. For the Income questions. As I recall 'we' were not eligible to file an I -864A. Click on that tab I mention above- Collect Financial Documents. It goes here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html You will see a 'What If' Table. Go the bottom- If none of the above apply and: You do not meet the minimum income requirement and are using a joint sponsor, and You are not using the income of other household members to qualify. Then The sponsor and the joint sponsor must each complete Form I-864
  15. Earlier you said this was your first Electronic Filing. Do yourself a favor. Go to the website http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents.html Look carefully at the tabs. http://travel.state.gov/etc/designs/visas/images/visa_immigrate_process_step.png The Immigrant Visa ProcessPetitionSubmit a PetitionAfter Your Petition is ApprovedCheck Priority DateBegin National Visa Center (NVC) ProcessingChoose an AgentPay FeesCollect and Submit Forms and Documents to the NVCSubmit Visa Application FormCollect Financial DocumentsCollect Supporting DocumentsSubmit Documents to the NVCInterviewPrepare for the InterviewVisa Applicant InterviewAfter the InterviewBe sure to click on each every one of the Tabs. Do it many, many times. Read them until your head spins. Repeat. They (tabs) are all important. Interview Prep is even more important. They say something to the effect of "we suggest you contact the Medical Facility to arrange your Medical Exam.' Yes, exactly, I explained this in a different post. I would describe the Medical as 'onerous.' As I recall, 8 Passport Photos are collected during the medical. You won't find that anywhere in Interview Prep. At least, I did not. Nothing, absolutely nothing is the same as when you did this last time.

  17. Is this question something from within the Passport Delivery application process? Are you able to give a website link? Our case is closed, I am unable to go inside the CGI system to search for this phrase. I'd take a widd guess that something has been incorrectly translated. If you can copy and paste, exactly, the original wording it would be helpful. At any rate, I wouldn't worry about what 'Registration' means as long as you fully and completely fill out the appropriate blanks within the Registration for Passport Delivery instruction section.
  18. In our case (July 2015), Premium Delivery meant that a fee was paid to a real, live delivery person, upon delivery, to the address we gave them during registration for Passport pick up. In other words, you either pick up the Passport at a CITIC location of your choice or pay a Premium Fee (at the time of delivery) to a non CITIC Bank address.
  19. By the way, in Guanzhou they asked for, took, and kept all the originals of our documents such as marrigae cert., birth certs, financial docs, and (others) from the beneficiary. They have not yet been returned. Nor are they likely to be returned.
  20. In our recent experience, ( say, April to July of this year) you should include exactly all of everything they ask for. In addition, you should, (must in our case because they said so!) insert the electronic case number in the upper right hand corner of every document. Also, beware the submission size limit. "Please place your case number in the subject line of the email and keep your attachments below five megabytes (MB)" Here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents.html I did as they originally asked, put the case number in the subject line. 4 requests for duplicate information and 3 months later came the request "please place the case number in the upper right hand corner of each document." come on, picture a gov't operation and a single printer with thousands of pages every day falling on the floor.... It is, and was, my personal opinion that the actual address of the beneficiary does not matter. Unless, of course, you have the passport with visa premium delivered to that address. Even then, only the delivery service needs that address, which could be anything you want.
  21. Find out what you want to know about any chemical. Do a search for msds (material safety data sheet) and the material's name (not just chemicals). for example: http://fscimage.fishersci.com/msds/21160.htm
  22. Applicant 'passed' the Interview on Tuesday. Premium service delivery to Nanning, at home, occured Saturday of the same week. 4 days.
  23. A Google search yields among others: "...In China, men currently can retire at 60 years of age, while women who work in factories can retire as early as 50. Female public-sector workers can retire at 55. Changes to these rules would only be made after public consultation next year, Mr. Yin said." From a Mar 10, 2015 article- http://blogs.wsj.com/chinarealtime/2015/03/10/china-sets-timeline-for-first-change-to-retirement-age-since-1950s/ "...According to Minister Yin, the current mandatory retirement ages—50 and 60 for women and men, respectively, in labor-intensive fields; and 55 and 65 for white-collar women and men, respectively—will increase by “a few months” each year after the plan is released. A draft of the new retirement policy is expected to be approved by the central government this year and be released for comment next year.... From an April, 2015 article- https://www.uschina.org/china%E2%80%99s-mandatory-retirement-age-changes-impact-foreign-companies These two articles confirm what Randy said which included, "...It seems to me that there are more than a few different retirement plans available..."
  24. Thanks Randy. That seems a reliable source. At risk of mop slapping, I'll ask my wife to double check her source(s). In the meantime, if somebody wants to retire they had best inquire about it.
