  1. You should avoid the huge headaches in the future. One little letter of the alphabet can cause the rejection of your application. In China you may be able to explain the reason of why the English spelling is different. In the US, workers in our government will deny your application if your documents don't have the exact spelling of the name. Since this is not your name that is spelled wrong it might not be as critical. If it was me I would change this to avoid any future problems if you have to list your father on an application again. Since this is post 9/11 things are scrutinized more. I'm just speaking on experience. My birth certificate has one letter that was different than my document on my family name. Try telling an American that the family names are spelled differently but the Chinese character or name is the same! They won't buy it.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong Dan R, but I guess you were refering to the muggings, pickpockets, and etc. at the train station? I wonder how the subway crime below level is as well?
  3. With the holiday week in May and the move in June, God help us all. Wait maybe the new Pope can pray for us or will that cause the Great GUZ to be mad!
  4. I'm waiting for our P3 to arrive at the end of April or the beginning of May if the average waiting period from NVC to GUZ is still the same. I'll let everyone know if they are still sending it to both the fiance and fiancee. As for calling you husband before you're married. I have the same problem. We had our engagement party with her parents and she is considered given to me in marriage. She calls me her husband every time we talk on the phone. I'm a little worried about this. I told her that when it's time to go to your interview you have to call me by my name and not husband. She said that she knows and that she's not stupid. I tried to explain that I know that she's smart. The point that I'm getting at is that with human nature sometimes when you do something repeatedly it becomes almost like a habit. All we need is that slip of saying my husband and....? If we just happen to get the wrong VO then we're sunk, no matter how much she tries to explain it you might get a blue slip and have to prove you're not married!
  5. Any translators used has to be in simple English otherwise the translation will be wrong. I just hope everyone understands this. If they don't write in simple English the other party won't understand what you're trying to say and or they will be laughing at your email.
  6. This might be slightly off the subject but it's for all those out there looking for a cheap alternative translator without having to deal with software. This translator is free to try out. It's strictly an English language to whatever language you chose translator. In other words if you type your SO's pinyin name to be translated it will not do it. If you want a plain sentence or paragraph translated quickly this is the translator to use. Surprise your sweetheart with a Chinese email instead of an English written one. She'll probably get a kick out of it! The address to the site is: http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_serv...translator.html. Type in the word(s) or paragraph in english, then translate it to the language you want. This should be simplified Chinese from the pull down menu. Copy the Chinese translation. Start up your email and paste the Chinese characters to your email. There's no software needed when all you do is copy and paste.
  7. Thank you all for your advice and in welcoming me. We applied for the K1 thinking that it would be a shorter wait but thanks to GUZ I guess everyone is running out of patience. Compared to all the waiting times of the veterans here at CFL, we just started at the back of the line. Once again thank you all for your help. NOA 1 - February 8, 2005 NOA 2 - March 11, 2005 - Email - Approved NOA 2 - March 18, 2005 - Snail Mail - Approved NVC - March 23, 2005 - Approved - Sent to GUZ NVC - March 25, 2005 - Snail Mail - Approved Waiting for GUZ package Clearance
  8. Hi Everyone I have a question about the Police Certificates issued in the Guangxi Region. The NVC forwarded our paperwork to GUZ. I will ask my SO to start the process of getting the paperwork together. Her birth and never married certificates were translated and notorized. I will ask her to find some time to get the Police Certificate next week. Does the Police certificate need to get translated and notorized as well, or does it contain both Chinese and English on the certificate? I need to know this in order to estimate how much money she might need to bring with her since she's also getting pictures taken and the application for passport. Many thanks for anyone who can inform me on this subject.
  9. Can anyone at Candle direct me to the address of the Chinese web version of the Candle forums. My sweetheart doesn't understand English and I read on this forum about .001 version over on the China's site. I just couldn't find the link for this for my sweetie. Any help from the members are appreciated and I will thank you in advance for your help.
