  1. It won't for me either... Must be some kind of conspiracy...
  2. We have also experienced these changes in our burg of Qionghai on Hainan. Our development was built by what my wife calls the Beijing Railway... http://www.ztjs.net.cn/Ch/Index.html As you can see they have built many developments in Beijing and they are now one of the 75 SOE's that the central government has told to stop building houses as it is not their core business...
  3. I would be honored to lead the revolutionary charge from my walker... CuZin' Che...
  4. so you will be be selling your house in YunNan very fast Roger, this month as things so bad ? we will pay good price for this house in desert called Yuxi. Are you selling Hainan house before this revolution as well ? Actually comrade Jin, Yuxi has plenty of water...They have one of the largest lakes in China to draw from, Fuxian Lake, it is the third largest lake in Yunnan and the second deepest lake in all of China...It seems that the driest parts of Yunnan are the west and south...We can only hope it will start to rain soon for our poor neighbors that are really suffering right now...
  5. Could a few hundred million thirsty people lead to "social unrest"??? Will China Run Out Of Water? http://www.forbes.co...l?feed=rss_home
  6. Good news considering how Jin feels about America... Hope you'll have time to bone up on your spiling before you get to class though...
  7. We were there too Carl...I thought the critter was just so old he didn't care...
  8. Perhaps you actually are naive enough to think that signing this in China would be the same as signing a petition in the land of the free and the home of the brave...
  9. http://shanghaiist.com/2010/03/12/orgies_a...ina_a_law_w.php Everybody keeps trying to tell me that China is much more free than the US... Well not when it comes to organizing ORGIES baby... And one woman's fight to make group gropes legal... http://shanghaiist.com/2010/03/12/orgies_a...ina_a_law_w.php
  10. How do you figure that? Well, Wild Bill, its like this rat cheer....Filed K-1 November 2006, interview in July 2007 treated like a dog by an American and AR blue slipped at interview, 300 day wait on the blue slip which turned into a denial in May 2008, then a short thirteen months for the application to get sent back to the NVC in June of 2009. In July of 2009 the USCIS re-approved the application with no rebuttal letter sent to me...meaning there never was anything wrong with the application to begin with. All courtesy of the American government with no repressive pinko Commie's causing any trouble. Maybe next time "freedom" will apply, eh? I can handle the visa crap, it's just par for the course, especially with my knowledge that when you play ball with Uncle Sammy, he has a tendecy to stick the bat up your ass...at least thousands didn't die in this case. What are your plans for this big revolution that's gonna rock China to it's foundation? tsap seui I do regret using the word "right" as I full well understand that there is no "right" to an immigration visa. Wow, I am sorry to hear that you got such poor treatment in your quest to bring your family to the States. I would like to think that our government had its act together, but I guess we all know that isn't the case. Although there is no "right", I believe there should be a right to an immigrant visa once certain essential criteria are met. Families should have the right to be together. I also have to agree that the term "communist" is pretty much irrelevant these days to anybody with half a brain. As messed up as China is sometimes, the degree of fuckedupedness can often be matched by our own government back home. Sad, but true. Thanks Bill, our immigration system is just is what it is. I can live with it as it has allowed me to buy a nice lil' nest in China that may become very important should my wife find she doesn't care for America, plus we've gotten the opportunity to truly understand each other when the shit hits the fan, more so than we would if she had been given the quick visa after a few fantasy/honeymon trips to China would have afforded us. I agree fully with your last paragraph...Joe McCarthy is long dead. The world is much more open and all that propaganda from both sides is much more transparent to regular citizens of both cultures for what it always was. When an American, or a Chinese points a finger at the other they have to remember...they have 3 fingers pointing right back at them and their country. China will change, just as America is changing, but it has to be at their and our OWN pace. Folks say, "we can't allow China to tell us who our friends are", well, why should we expect that we can tell them how to run their own country? The carrot works much better in making friends with an important country like China, than the garrot. I've always liked your insightful, biting, no holds barred posts from Chinertucky. You've been there a long time, have a sense of what's going on, and your not easily suffering fools approach is often hilarious to me, even if I am sometimes "the fool". Keep it up...and remember to duck when the "revolution" explodes. tsap seui I'm worried ... very worried ... I'm starting to agree with you and with ShaQuaNew all in one day. Now I'm worried! The End must be near. Now, I'm skeerder than hell...1.3billion crazed Chinertuckians revolutin' at the same time is jest downright....revoltin'...what's a feller to do? Anybody got room in their fallout shelter? Chicken Lil' kicked me out of his, that horrible paranoid foul fowl. I jest caint understand why the Chinese and the rest of the world just don't do what we tell 'em to do...can you imagin what a great and peaceful world it would be if all the other countries listened to us and did what we tol' them to do, instead of what they think they need to do? Why, America could rule the world if everybody else just shut up and did as we tol' 'em to do? tsap seui Son, have you gone soft in the head??? Could you kindly show me where in the article it talks about what American wants China to do... Could you please 'splain to me how it was America and the other western running dogs that shoved Charter 08 down the throats of the Chinese people... Some folks just can't bear to think that there may actually be people right in China who are not just ecstatic over the present system... Son, I say son, the inside of my hed is softer than a 80 year old woman's left breast...and I always did have trouble follerin' directions and stayin' on topic. Charter 08? I used that once, why, the chartered, #08 Greyhound bus I wuz on left outta downtown Baltimore and took over 15 hours to cover the 150 miles to Buffalo Mills, Pennsyltucky. As furr as what "some people caint bear to think about what the Chinese folks think about their government"...I let out a loud blast of indifferent flatulence and say, some people jest can't seem to keep their minds and their research offa other folks business. tsap seui Oh I was on a greyhound like that once...Chicago to Oklahoma City...Got the LAST SEAT... which is in the back row in the middle of 2 other seats...BOLT UPRIGHT does NOT recline at all...hours and hours of pain... Till a soldier got off at some base in Missouri...thought I'd die... Oh and you'll have to really dig to find my original Charter 08 thread it got LOCKED long ago by someone who found it offensive to talk about...

  13. As in Hong Kong and PRC? Or are they allowed to also hold, say, a US or British passport? Here is way more than you ever wanted to know about the subject... http://www.geoexpat.com/forum/forum54.html
  14. This is of interest to me too, I currently take Norvasc which is a calcium channel blocker. It seems that deciding which of the literally thousands that are available is best for you to treat hypertension is largely trial and error. I would much rather do that experimentation in the US where all the meds are readily available before heading off to China. But given that you are already there yeah you really need an English speaking doc who knows the meds and their effects... Do you need a prescription when dealing with these online sources???
  15. I saw a reference to a 3 year visa for the PRC in an expat forum... But before you get too excited it is for Hong Kong passport holders ONLY... Also Hong Kongers are allowed to be dual citizens by the PRC... B) or have dual passports anyway...
  16. The National People's Congress is currently in session in Beijing. I've been watching interviews every night on CCTV9 of participants. These delegates come from all over and all walks of life and less than 40% are party members... NO No not that party... But it is very interesting to listen to their desires for ways to improve their country. There IS a great interest in moving forward in giving THE PEOPLE more control, more freedom, more rights, more say in what goes on and how things are done...One can only hope that the leaders are hearing this and acting on it...
  17. There is nothing like enjoying a fine Havana seegar hand-rolled by Fidel HISOWNDAYUMNSELF...
  18. I suppose people have gotten the wrong idea about my personal feelings about communism... For the uninitiated... I am a left-leaning person politically... (can I say that here???) I have never felt any animosity toward socialism or communism in any way shape or form...I was against the Vietnam war right from the start...But we don't really need to go there...I think a socialist or communist system could be the best of all possible worlds...But its a very large COULD BE... we have only seen it work well in very small examples...Once you get out to the nation size entity well, "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" principle seems to take over...When there are no checks and balances, when there is no rule of law, when there is no opportunity for the man on the street to be heard, when there is no avenue of recall for corrupt officials... What kind of a system is it??? I don't give a ratz putoot what you call it I say it does not serve THE PEOPLE...it serves the few at the very top... Glad to see you've landed and are doing so well Tsapper...Enjoy every minute buddy...
  19. Doesn't seem too incredible that the authors of a study of authoritarian regimes would fall into the libertarian sector politically...
  20. An interesting and thorough read on how the CCP ties to keep the lid on... http://www.underminingdemocracy.org/china/
  21. Well, it most certainly wouldn't be the first time that during China's 5,000+ year history a popular uprising destroyed a standing army and overthrew the government. Quite right Bill...IMHO those who think all this is completely impossible are whistling past the graveyard... Gotta agree with you, Roger. While I'm not saying it will happen or even that it should, history does have a way to come back and bite people in the butt. Just what I think...It may never happen but I think it is made MORE likely by the government clamping down hard to try to make sure it never does...For every action an equal reaction...
  22. Huh? Roggie?? No way! The Don is just a troublemaker...
  23. Well, it most certainly wouldn't be the first time that during China's 5,000+ year history a popular uprising destroyed a standing army and overthrew the government. Quite right Bill...IMHO those who think all this is completely impossible are whistling past the graveyard...
  24. I can only assume that Jesse did not bother to read the article or check out the credentials of the quoted expert... Been out in the sun too long I suspect... Ya got me on that. I don't spend much time reading your articles because they're all the same when it comes to anything about China. The only good place in China is Hainan, right? If I want to know what's going on in China, I go for a walk outside. Hainan was a good place to make money...We will never live there...We both like Yunnan much more for many reasons... But it is fascinating that you can learn everything you ever wanted to know about China by walking around your hood...
