  1. :quote: In short, this sucks for us who play by the rules...but "it's better to be safe, than sorry" :end quote: I deffinatly agree with the above statement. We are just starting this process and all the things that are happening to everyone else has me a little concerned. I guess my wife and I will take it one day at a time. Phil & Ru Fang
  2. AngryTexan, you're not offending me in anyway. There is a difference in this case. In this case, we don't have Chinese people sneaking over the boarder. They aren't hiding in RV's or in the trunk of a car. They are trying to follow the process that it written by law to come to America. And I think even though people may find Rush Offencive, he is willing to listen and maybe help. It can't hurt, can it? Phil
  3. Maybe what we should do is contact Rush Limball about this. Maybe HE can light the political fires that are needed to see things get through. If we can get the support of someone who has a high profile like he does, we may yet get the voices of the "black hole gang" heard. Phil
  4. I would also be willing to let loose in the wild some books if anyone is interested. Phil
  5. I think Death Wish was allready used with some Marlon Brandow movie. You could always call it Death Race? And why stop with the movie? Why not branch it into video games as well. Phil
  6. Perhaps someone in america would be willing to ship you some books. I read mostly Science Fiction and fantasy novels, so that is what my three bookshelves are full of. Phil
  7. hi Kaige, your wife was giving away red envelops to the others during the wedding? that's interesting... because in Shanghai, the new couples are supposed to get red envelops which contain money (normally arond $10 to $120) from the others in the wedding. The money that is given away at wedding is for things like Bus fare and taxi. It is usualy only 20-40 yuan. <at least that is what my wife gave at ours> I am sure there are many different styles of weddings, and I thought this was a nice touch. Phil
  8. Do I feel like a "killer of topics?" I think this is an interesting post about What Chinese new years is about to each person. So please, let us hear your view on the subject. Thanks! Phil & Ru Fang
  9. When I was with my wife and her family during the new years celebration, I had remembered the "Changing of the Light bulbs" Making sure that all the bad bulbs are changed and new ones put in. Then there were some weird looking flowers that looked like a lemon turned inside out (at least the buds looked that way) and the peacock feathers. (I remember this distinctively since I ended up carrying everything) I think that may be why my wife married me. There was also the Tangerine trees that I see strapped to the backs of motorbikes and other things. They had one at my new sister-in-laws apartment and they had it decorated with little red envelopes and white lights. I got 800 yuan last year, but now that I am married to wife, I have to give money to my nephews and Niece and mom of course! (400 yuan each) Plus all the gifts that they had asked me to bring with me (mostly watches, perfume and Lego cars) I always joke with wife and say: "What does Lao Gong get?" I get all the love and friendship that I can ask from strangers who took me into their homes and treat me like I am one of their family. That is was Chinese New Year means to me. Philip & Ru Fang
  10. Now THAT is funny! I have had some problems speaking with my wife Using calling cards that I got from Sams Club. (they are AT&T) This morning I was speaking with her and the phone went dead when we were talking so I called her back and was able to speak with her again. There was also mention a while ago about sunspot activity that may be still playing havoc with some Cell phones. Phil
  11. How big were the coins? Horse pill size? Gotta be to put all them zeros on that coin. Phil
  12. My well wishes also go to you, from one Phillip To another Philip. Hope she can be in your arms soon! Philip
  13. My wife called them today after about an hour and 40 minutes she was actually able to speak with someone. They also agreed with her that they had made a misstake in the papers that they sent to her. So she will be getting correct packet in a few days. Thanks for the suggestions Sir Owen. Phil & Ru Fang
  14. Don't they also have 2 jiao bills? I have some from my visit last year. Phil
  15. Well, I was planning on having a wedding here so that really won't be a problem. I will see if by sending out an E-mail to point this error out will work. If not, no biggie. Phil
  16. Well, since this is new territory that I am going through, I wasn't quite sure. But I still need to make sure if I need to let the Consulate know that this is for a K3 not a K1, or maybe I shouldn't bother and hope for the best. Why confuse people? Phil
  17. My wife received her first packet from GZ today. According to the top of the page it says K1 visa. Now, I had applied for a K3 for her. Is this a miss-print on GZ, or are they just grouping them all into one pile? Can someone give me a hand here? It says at the very bottom that it is a Packet 3 if this helps at all. Thanks ahead of time for any answers! Phil
  18. The Potowatami Indians are from the Lower Michigain, upper Indiana area. Phil
  19. He's right! You can only read it. You would need to get a separate program to install on the machine in order to type in The Roman Style Chinese language. Unless of course, you get a legal copy of Chinese Windows XP. That would solve the problem. Phil
  20. I make them myself. I go to Google image search and find what I like and then adjust, clip, resize or whatever I need to do. Kansas, the rock group also used this same image on their box set. That is where I reconized the man. He is on a lot of their album covers. Of course, I didn't know his name. Thank you for giving me a bit of trivia. Phil
  21. Well on you Tony! We are not all "ignorant savages", even though I resemble the remark. I am trying to learn to read Chinese, if only my Lao Po would write to me in Chinese so I can attempt botched attempts to translate. Phil
  22. As luck would have it (or dumb luck I guess, I have no clue) I got an E-mail from FlyChina.com stating that they have a flight I can take at 808 including tax! This is quite incredible since it goes straight to GZ! Only problem is that the flight goes into South Korea! I am a little nervous about that, but as long as I don't draw attention to myself, I think I will be fine. I will be a stealthfull as a Ninja! Now to get clearance from the Lao Po. <G> Phil
  23. Always nice to match faces and names. Phil
