  1. What I mean for "China" is that they performed a computerized records check that accesses the records in the country not just the area.
  2. I think the consulate is aware that you can only legally get a police report from the one location in China. My understanding is that the police report they provide states "No record in China". I would email the consulate if you are concerned but remember everyone is in the same boat. Just like the consulate knows that petitions expire in 4 months. They renew them. Since Chinese law provides that you can only obtain the police report in one location, the consulate has to be aware. I do not think that your gal will be able to get police certificates from each place. I would make sure that the certificate she did obtain is for "China".
  3. I continually read that one question that is asked is "How many times have you met in China?" Does this mean that if you met in person once, but speak everyday on the phone and webcam and know you love each other, that it is not enough? How many have received approvals but met once in person. According to the regulations, once is enough and even that can be waived under certain situations. I would like to hear from those of you who met once. What happened? How long was your one meeting?
  4. I use Yahoo messenger and MSN for talking. The webcam sure beats a standard telephone call. You can use a mic if your cam does not have a built in mic. It is free. I speak on the phone as well but nothing beats yahoo and MSN. What airline did u find such a reasonable price?
  5. Alot of salespeople are not that knowledgeable. I was told that platinum is just pure white gold. Of course this is not true. If you shop at department stores you will find great bargains and a wide selection of rings. I would not buy diamond in China.
  6. I keep reading posts stating that bank statements, a letter from the bank or asset information are not necessary if your income is over poverty guidelines. Where does it say this on the application? I read that asset information and/or salary information is required. Can anyone point out where on the I-134 current instructions or application that it states that a bank letter or asset information is not necessary if a certain salary is met. I have gone over the form over and over and do not see this.
  7. I tried to cash American Express travelers checks in Kunming without success. I went bank to bank. I finally went to an ATM and used my VISA card with a pin. Make sure you notify your credit card company that you will be going to China. Also my American Express Card was not accepted for a cash advance at the bank. I would not carry large amounts of cash but have a VISA card and maybe travelers checks as well.
  8. Just wondering, where is the 001 site people talk about?
  9. I utilized www.mychinavisa.com. I sent my passport via Federal Express and had it back with the visa in days.
  10. I just read a posting that stated T Mobile works in China. What about Cingular or Verizon? Does any have any knowledge? Also can you purchase a voltage adapter that will work on recharging the phone.
  11. Exactly. That is what my fiance was told. She could only obtain from one location. I am sure the consulate will know this. Now that I hear the same from another person, I know she is not mistaken.
  12. I was in China last August. We started gathering documents since then and my fiancee obtained a police report from her hometown. This report indicates she has no criminal record in China. I told her I think she needs one from every city she has ever lived. She has lived in a few places in China. She told me that she thought this is unnecessary as the police check is a check for all of China and is computerized. Is she correct? Or must she travel all over China to the different police stations? Can anyone tell me what was required.
  13. My question is this. Since the government provides for a 90 day period once your fiancee comes to the US under the K-1 visa, it seems to me that it may be difficult to plan a full religious wedding. Do most people have a judge or justice of the peace perform the legal wedding and than have a religious wedding?
  14. You can call NVC and all they can say is they mailed the package to GZ. You can use the email form on the GZ consulate and see if they received or you can wait until your fiancee receives package 3. GZ will tell you it takes up to three months for them to receive. Do not use the automated NVC telephone system to check anything. Nothing ever goes on there. Good luck.
  15. When the P-3 is returned, does GZ notify you they have received the P-3 materials. What is the name check I read about? How long does this take?
  16. Do not worry. I hated flying. Before meeting my fiancee the furthest I flew was a 3 hour flight. I took a US carrier to China and while in China had to use the internal airlines. I must say that the internal airlines are fine. The planes were actually very modern, all instructions are in english and the crew was friendly. The only difference was everyone boarded at once. I did it and will do it again. Good luck to the two of you.
  17. Don't the chinese appliances utilize the different voltage. When I was in China I noticed that.
  18. This is terrible. Does your fiancee have full custody of your child? If so then did the Consulate ask for proof. What if as one person stated, one to do if the father can pose a threat to your child or fiancee. How can your fiancee risk danger to herself or child? It would seem totally unreasonable for the Consulate to ask for a permission letter if your fiance has been awarded full custody. I think there are many cases in which this would be impossible. Example, what if the father fled so not to pay support.
  19. I am new at this and will post my timeline soon. I Petitioned for my fiancee to come to the USA. We are at the P3 stage. I want to prepare the Affidavit of Support. I have two questions. First Question 11 on the I-134 asks if I will be making specific contributions. She will be coming here to the USA and of course I will be supporting her as her husband would. How is this question answered? I plan to support her for the rest of her life. Secondly, for bank information. Do I send copies of my bank statements or do I need a letter from a bank official. It does not seem to make sense to have a letter from a bank official if a statement is more detailed. What does GZ want? Thanks all for your help.
