  1. Saw this on yahoo. Sorry for my words but its a damn shame to not allow foreigners to adopt these children. Breaks our heart to know if we wanted to we couldnt. I know many loving honest parents here with no children that would adopt them in a heart beat. So what if many are handicapped. They are children, whats wrong with people huh? Don't want less than perfect? Is that why? It seems for now only chinese couples can adopt them. We have no children we will try to find a way. AFP/File ¨C A young girl injured in the earthquake that hit the city of Dujiangyan, Sichuan in June, is treated at ¡ BEIJING ¨C Only one orphan has been adopted in the four months since a devastating earthquake in Sichuan province left some 90,000 people dead or missing, government officials and state media said Monday. The 10-year-old boy is from the quake-hit town of Mianzhu, said a staffer from Sichuan's Civil Affairs Office who gave only his surname, Zhao, as is customary by Chinese officials. The orphan was identified Zhang Anyun, a student from the Hanwang Central Primary School, according to the official China Daily newspaper. He was adopted by a couple in the capital of Chengdu. Both of Zhang's parents were killed when their apartment collapsed, the report said. His grandparents are alive but are both more than 80 years old and cannot afford to support him, it said. The paper said that a total of 532 children lost their parents in the May 12 quake that killed nearly 70,000 people and left another 18,000 missing, but most of them have been taken in by family members or guardians. In late August, the government announced that only 88 were eligible for adoption because they had no relatives who could be located or could care for them, the paper said. Of the 88 children, 28 are between 5 to 10 years old, while 54 are between 10 to 14 years old, the paper said. One reason for the slow response in finding adoptive homes is that couples are hesitating over adopting handicapped children, China Daily said, citing sources from the provincial civil affairs department. Jiang Tao, head of the division in charge of adoption at the provincial civil affairs office, was quoted as saying that adoptive parents preferred children who are under 6 years old and are not handicapped. However, many of the quake orphans sustained physical or other injuries during the quake that are permanent handicaps, according to his office. The Civil Affairs Ministry said earlier this year that people nationwide had shown a huge interest in adopting quake orphans, with 10,000 families registering for adoption in one province alone. The ministry said at the time that priority would be given to parents who had lost children in the quake. Adoptions are further complicated by rules that require orphans whose parents are listed as officially missing to wait two years for the parents to be declared dead before they can be adopted. Adoptions are not open to foreigners, including residents of the Chinese territories of Hong Kong and Macau and Taiwanese citizens. The ministry has said that only childless Chinese couples over the age of 30 can be considered as adoptive parents.
  2. I could be wrong but way I read it is your I485 is part of your AOS along with G328A. Others here know much beter than me but I belive its "Status as Permanent Resident". Please dont shoot me if wrong.
  3. Understand. Will call brother-in-law and mom their time. Just off the phone with WU. You are right. Thanks Don! Very much so!!
  4. Yeh found that out. Crazy mess. Send 1k on the web from NC to Xi'an fee is $81 not 70 something. Do it at Food Lion its $14. Have you guys seen Moneygram? Only took a quik look but seems not to bad send it on the web. Fees I mean. We got overwhelmed trying to find a way fast to help our family. Can't explain how hard this is on my wife, me too. Money cant take the place of being there but we cant. Thank you guys very much, means more than can say. Thank you all for your help! One minute everything was fine. Next minute he left us.
  5. Thanks much!! Will go now Thank you guys very much!!!!!
  6. I saw the BOA post but what if you dont have a BOA account? Little less than 1k with western union is $74. Our bank is $60 for the same amount. Anyone found a beter way? What is money you send in USD converted to? Less or more? What about a prepaid visa like green dot or something, anyone used these? My wifes dad has just died trying to get our family there some money ASAP!
  7. Zack.. Italbb I have not tried this, yet... but maybe Uncle TiRg can tell you more? http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...=31613&st=0 David Italkbb works great had it almost two years now. The dedicated Chinese number they give you works great, it never costs my wifes family a penny to call. They have a cell phone program to but we dont need it so not sure what it is.
  8. Guess I'm bad to newday. Do the same. Wife sits here with a big smile on her face when i'm looking for whos from china in each event. But when the usa swim team or beach volley ball is on she might as well be in the game herself. Never seen so much swimming on dry land or invisable volley balls.
  9. Yep, should have just sent the I-485 in last year before July 30, 2007 when USCIS bumped up the rate. On a positive note, you wont have to deal with a conditional green-card, marriage more than 2 years before green-card approval results in a 10 year card. Dont forget, you will have to do a full medical I-693 for AOS since the one for the K-3 visa is over a year ago. Got ya. Just found its needed again, have a local place to do that. Wifes pissed we did that last year here thinking it would be still be good now its not. She was right I was wrong of course. Thanks dnoblett Thanks much!!!!!!!!
  10. Use it to extend your K-3 status while your I-485 or I-130 is being processed. Do you plan to have her go back to China for the I-130? Or did you file an I-485? The dates on the visa are the validity dates - she must enter the US between those dates. The dates on the I-94 is the expiration date. Send in the I-539 before this date. The visa will ALWAYS expire before the I-94, since the I-94 is good for a 2 year stay. Take a deep breath, sit back, and continue waiting. Was never realy sure about 485 uscis kept saying no you cant file 485 without p2 for I130. The last 4 calls there now they say go ahead and file it just file the 539 first which I did last week. Do not want her to have to go back to china for I130 no way. Will send 485 in a few days. Then like you said sit back and wait some more.
  11. Understand thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Thanks for you guys help on another question!!!! This one is kinda the same. Sorry no timeline yet. We are K3 wife has been here almost 2 years on the approved I-129f. I-130 so slow we had to file I539 to extend stay. On the phone and in the instructions for I539 a K3 only has to submit the I94 and her chinese passport. Her visa runs out this month but the I94 runs out in November. Cant seem to find out from them the difference between the dates on the visa and the I94. I know its because she got the visa in china and the I94 was at POE. But know one there has a clue if we will have future problems because of the visa expiring before the I94? Copies of wifes visa they dont need? Sent a copy anyway but know worried should we have sent it with the I539. Will that bite us in the butt when we file AOS? These people scare us, seems once you know what to do you find out no heck you dont.
  13. Yup, we got the same thing early last week. I-130 sent from vermont to ca to speed it up. Twice on the phone they told me "well thats projected". As if we didnt know. How many differnent apps are they sending to CA, they told us only I-130's?
  14. Thanks Much Randy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Understand better now. Seems many times what we thought was absolute isn't. We are both scared to death. Two months time my wife we both thought had to leave. She has sat here almost 2 years cant work, cant drive. Its not the money its this life game they play with us. The money I will get. My sweet wife is one out of a million, not one in a million. Took us both over 40 years to find each other. We will let no-one take it away That is not an option for any reason. The woman had a life in China many women here only dream of. She left it all for me. I still wonder why sometimes. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Hey, We are K3, wifes approved I-129F expires in Oct. Just found out our I-130 got sent to Ca for processing. We filed it in Jan of this year. USCIS jerks 4 times now say go ahead and file I-485 also I-539 for visa extension. I-130 been sitting since Jan this year. From everything we have seen you can't file for I-485 until you have P2 for I-130. 4 times now uscis says no, go ahead and pay $1010.0 even if you don't have it. No one there has any idea what to do. I ask well what happens if you send in the I-485 and uscis asks you for P2? Will you give me 30 days to answer your RFE? If I can't give you this within 30 days what will you do? Deny us? No they say. Anyone had this happen?
  16. My wife has no ssn yet but the other day we went to the dry cleaners. A family from south korea owns it. They found out wife is chinese, now she is teaching the kids and adults how to read, write and sing songs in chinese. Seems to be more demand for that than we both knew. Its not what she did in china but she loves it. These people treat her like a queen.
  17. How to post I don't know. Have a cd wife brought from china. 12 girls band. Our two favs are Midnight Mood Spirit Dance Sorry have no link.
  18. Yes its pretty much as close to real time as we can get here in the states. NASA sats give more detail real time but most can't access these sat views. Can tell you what you see on the tv (forget it). The web sure a small portion. It's much worse. The quake and afters is one thing. What could happen from them is beyond mosts understanding. If there truly is a god I pray for his help. What we see on tv and the web is only a portion of what has happened, and what can still happen.
  19. Have no words to say. Just makes you want to cry. If anyone has found away to help his loved ones please, please say. We would love to help in some way. God bless skibum and his family................
  20. You guys are a big help we both thank you much!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again sorry no timeline yet. We are k3 boss is here on approved i-129f. Has your wifes passport expired before you went to the embassy to get it renewed?. A girl on 001 told wife she has to have an appointment to renew it, can't just go to the embassy and walk in as most people. Problem is 2 days now no one will answer a phone at the one in DC. Two hotels booked and this comes up. Anyone ran into this?
  21. but the question then boils down to Can he file his I-485 without waiting for the I-130 approval? If he checks box a, he is saying that it was already approved. Dan - do you know what the people on VJ did? Did they check box a? Or what? Even the lady on the phone said "P2 is not needed" They check BOX "A" http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf Just include I-130 NOA1 "P1" receipt letter, they can use the receipt number to retrieve the I-130 petition that is pending approval and link that case to the I-485. Saw that on VJ also. Much harder now to get a right answer with uscis. I could tell she had "talking points". Asked to talk with someone with knowledge sorry but we only give general statements. Wife been here a year and a half. Still has no rights at all. Can't work, can't drive, can't do anything. Real sick of this mess. Not sure about you guys wives but mine feels now like our dear .gov don't want her here. What a mess
  22. If she came on a K-3 visa, you need the P-2 for the K-3 (assuming it's treated like the K-1's). The I-130 is moot at this point. Nothing will come of it. Yes here on approved i-129f. Yes we are k-3. Dont understand this mess at all now. She even said wait for six months to start to worry about P2 for i-130. Makes no sense all you see is yes P2 for i-130 is needed to file aos. They say no you don't. Whats going on with this mess? Anyone got told this?
  23. Sorry no timeline. Put short wifes i-129f runs out in October, still no P2 for i-130 yet. Just off the phone with a newbie from uscis. Am told do not need to wait for P2-I-130 to file for AOS. Several times asked her "P2 is not needed". No she says it is not. OK we give you $1010 you wont come back and say you have 30 days to give us P2 for i-130?.No she says it is not needed. Anyone heard this?
  24. I recall two times from two not major towns in china people saw I was american and wanted to know everything they could not find on tv or the web about us americans. My wife don't even know this but in li-jiang meet a person just like me just a normal person same as me.Wife was asleep so I went to get me a beer mind you this is old town li-jiang.He has a small shop there and many times I saw him, always said hello to him.He and I tried very hard to understand each other. His english was chinglish, my chinese well, didn't exist. But it didn't matter we understood each other. My new friend told me we are just like you in USA, we want that life.We be free he said.Exactly how to answer his question "we will be free" i don't know how to do.I wanted to tell him freedom in this country may not be what you think. I keep thinking this word freedom as most of us "good" people see it is nothing like what people from other countries view us.Maybe there is to much freedom for some who should not have or know how to deal with this. This crime thing seems to be only getting worse day to day, week to week, no matter what country.Have heard many times this world is its on worst enemy.Sounds not so hard to belive to me.
