  1. Yea, cars are expensive in China. I couldn't believe the same car that cost $20k in the USA cost $40k in China. Owning a car is the real status symbol in China. Damn car is worth more than a house over there!
  2. Sounds like the same problem we have in California! Out of control housing price. Rich just keeps getting richer. Corrupt officals running the city of San Francisco.
  3. The law say you must register with the local police. Now I have never done this in any of the 7 cities I have stayed in and haven't been fined(yet). I usually book online and didn't have any problem when I showed up by myself to register with my CheapTickets.com receipt. The bastard at the hotel trys to cheat even my chinese wife, so I get a better price online. You're supposed to register with the local police and not have any lady friend stay in your hotel...but I don't know anyone that actually follow the law.
  4. I wonder what that B!TCH Sharon Stone and Richard Gere have to say about this. "It's Karma, you know, for destroying the Tibetan culture. You know, it's just Karma for what they did to my friend, the big D." Could be crazy Farmers/Migrant revolting, Tibetans(I thought they were all about peace?, or Islamic Chinese. I saw lots of Islamic Chinese while in Guangzhou.

What is the Department of Citizen in GUZ? I would like to have my email referred to the chief of Immigrant Visa Unit to complain about his worker!

I really think you make a good point here. What I've been wanting to know from them is what's going on with our case (are they even looking at it right now). But I don't think they will answer that because it really doesn't have specific answer ? What do you guys think ? Yes, they do answer specific question. I asked them when my wife's visa would be approved and they said, "Your case is still under review." I just wish I knew how long this review is. It's over 2 weeks just to review the overcome evidence!

They never really responsed to my questions, but they do response depending on your question. I emailed about 20 times the past 6 months and questions such as, "Have you received my overcome mail yet? EMS shows you received it on 06/11/08." Answer- ...we process our mail based on when we receive them. But my last email, I asked the exact same question and the response was "We have received your mail and it's now currently being reviewed by our Consular Officer. "
  8. Congrats! The waiting just makes it more sweeter(at least that's what I tell myself). Why did they give you a white the first time and how did it turn into a pink?
  9. I email GUZ every 10 days. Overcome was received on 06/11/2008 at the White Swan Hotel. 07/07/2008, they confirm receipt and said it's under review. I wonder how long this takes??? GUZ email response on 07/07/2008: " Thank you for your inquiry! We are in receipt of the mail and the case is under review by a Consular officer. We will contact the appliant by mail once the case is ready for continued processing. Your patience is appreciated."
  10. Yea, next thing you know they will want one of them 3 bedroom mobile mansions with the cinder blocks to put their used Buick on in the front yard.......... Yea, and then those Chinese will start shopping at Wal Mart!!! How dare those Chinese! First, they take our jobs, then take live in McMansions like us, and drive gas guzzling SUV like us. FOR SHAME!! It's their fault I lost my factory job and I'm 300 pounds. Dang those tasty chinese food! Well, I'll be back later tomorrow. I need to go to Wal Mart and buy me some cheap Chinese made products as I drive in my SUV.
  11. According to this Brit, Nanning is better than the UK! "China Scene: South Updated: 2008-03-28 07:20 Elderly Briton finds life of comfort in Nanning Ken Miller, a 70-year-old British man, has decided to settle down in Nanning, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, since the British immigration department has refused to grant his Chinese wife Lei Genxiu a visa. Miller who met Lei, 46, 18 months ago through an international agency visited Nanning three times before they married six months ago. The Briton said Nanning had made an impression on him and that the quality of life in the southern Chinese metropolis is better than what he was used to in Britain. The immigration department declined to grant his Chinese wife a visa because the pair was suspected of having impure motives due to age gap. 12. can you add someone as benificiary without an SSN-Jim Yes, you can. I added my wife as the beneficiary to the Life Insurance, 401K, and IRA.
  13. You should add her to your insurance plan. Buy insurance policy with her as the only beneficiary. Change your 401k and IRA beneficiary with her as the beneficiary(even though technically she's the designated beneficiary by law as soon as you're married). But be forewarned...they might never even ask to see this. But if they do ask to see it, you definitely want to be able to provide all this. Here's what I did for the financial documents: 1.) I added my wife to my company's health insurance plan. I have been paying an extra $200 a month so she can be on the plan. 2.) I changed my 401k and IRA accounts to her as the designated Beneficiary. 3.) I bought a new $500k insurance policy and she's listed as the only beneficiary. Also bought an additional supplemental $2 millions insurance policy at work with her as the beneficary. 4.) I have wired about $6k in USD to her. And guess what? They never asked to see this when my wife was interviewed. But as Murphy Law works, if you don't do it, they will ask to see it during the interview! So as other has suggested, you might want to include all the financial documents in your Visa Application instead of having your wife bring the documents to the interview because they might never ask to see your financial documents other than the Affidvant of Support during the interview.
  14. I know you may have answered before, but why did you get a blue slip? How did they give you a pink slip, then a couple days later decide to give you a blue slip? That seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me! This is all an assumption since they never tell you why they give you a blue slip other than the "we do not believe you have a bona fide relationship blah blah blah crap section of the INA 221A blah blah blah crap(you know, the same crap Bush use to jail people under Section 326A of the USA Patriot Act, but I digress." I and other believes that after the paperwork was reviewed by a Supervisor, a red flag was raised because of the way we met. GUZ might believe we have a fake marriage because I have "family" in China and she has "family" in the USA. Of course, our thoughts were "WTF are they thinking? Why the hell would I help someone I hardly know? I never met my cousins till 2006 so why the hell would I help them. " And because I work as an Officer at a bank, my career would be ruined if I was involved in a sham marriage. I have no freaking idea what they are thinking. I have tons of losing career wise and financially also since my wife is now entitled to half of my assets and my 401k,ira,and pensions(well over 6 figures.).
  15. Here's another funny tidbit I heard. I spoke with my mom this week and she was telling me how unfair Guangzhou was and she said, "they even approved an application where the petitionor was in prison for selling drug!!! how can they not issue you a visa when you work as an Officer in a big bank for the past 7 years??? Why would they even think your marriage is fake when you have so much to lose? And they issue a visa to the wife of someone that's in federal prison???" I guess I shouldn't be suprised because the IRS is issue rebate checks to dead people. And while I was in Guangzhou looking to rent an apartment near the Consulate, the person that was doing the leasing told us that there was a married couple that comes back every 6 months to rent an apartment and eventually was rejected for a visa even though they have a 3 years old kid together. GUZ didn't even bother to ask them to do a DNA test. There is no fairness in the entire process so don't let them ruin your relationship.
  16. What??? Now they are deciding if we're too young or too old to marry someone??? They shouldn't have this right, as long as we're of legal age. I met my wife when she as 21 and we married when she just turned 22(she was 23 when she went to the interview and got shot down). I have to think they didn't approve because of the financial support issue since there are a lot of 22 years old beneficiaries that have been approved. I guess my only advice is...if you both really love each other, you'll still be together whether GUZ approves or disapproves the VISA so don't let them ruin your relationship. I told my wife after we did not get approved for the Visa to think of ourself as migrate worker. I would only get to see her once a year and after I make enough money, I can go back home(if we get the white slip, the plan is for me to work 5 more years here and save every dime I can and retire early in China and go back to the USA to work when I need money).
  17. I have emailed Guangzhou every 10 days and so far, they said they have not processed our mail(EMS shows that they received the mail at the White Swan Hotel on 06/11/2008. Playing the waiting game. Just emailed them again yesterday and waiting for the next "we have not processed your mail" response.
  18. This is a possible red flag for Chinese Petitionar: If you have "family" in China or if she has "family" in USA. "Family" I assume is defined as relatives and cousins, not immediate family such as parents or siblings. I received a blue slip on pick up and I can only assume that we ended up with the blue because of "Family" in China and America. Then again, she has cousins and I have cousins that married someone from China and they had no problem with Guangzhou. But they also told me I should have not put down that I met her through "family" on the application as it would raise a possible red flag. I said I am going to put down exactly how I met her and not lie. Well, that's what I get for being honest and saying I met her through her uncle in America. We ended up with the blue slip.
  19. Do they actually give a reason when you get denial or is it the same crap that put on the blue slip, "Per INA 221, we have reason to believe this is not a bona fide relationship." My bluel letter just say "not a bona fide relationship...per INA 221."
  20. I bought a pounch that holds my currency and my passport and it's tucked under my shirt and underpants. It's not pretty and my wife doesn't like the way it looks since it makes my belly looks bigger, but I don't have to worry about getting pickpocketed unless someone strips me naked. Even though they banned motocycle in some area, there's still gangs of thieves in motobikes yiking cell phones and purses from pedestrians in Guangzhou.
  21. I mailed mine in as that's what the blue slip instruction say. But according to the Guangzhou website, you're supposed to buy a card at Citic Bank and make an appointment??? Why do some people get to make appointment and other have to mail in??
  22. IllionisDave, I think that's exactly what happened. Because I was introduced to her by her uncle in the USA, I believe they think it's a sham marriage to help her gain entry to the states either to help her cousins or my cousins. Or here's another crazy consipracy because of the questions they asked on the blue sheet. They asked if I have family member in China and why I came to China to marry on the blue sheet. I'm thinking they are thinking I came to China to marry her so she can gain entry to the states , once she becomes a citizen, she divorce me and then marry my cousin and apply for him to come to the state. This sounds crazy, but why else would they ask if I have family in China? And I'm guessing Family does not mean immediate family, but relatives and cousins since they should have access to my family residences already. You know, this would never have happened if I was dishonest and told them I met her when I bummed into her while in China as a tourist. That's a lesson for you Chinese guys meeting your spouse through introductions by friends/relatives.
  23. Man, that's dropping fast! It was 6.942 just 2 weeks ago when I was in Guangzhou.
  24. If something is wrong with the application, or something suspecious, why don't they talk to us about it? What is the big mystery there. We might even be able to help them to reach a decision sooner. Actually they even refused to see additional proofs of marriage. I have an official marriage certificate and it it outrageous for a VO to hold us hostage while they try to prove that it is not a couterfeit marriage certificate. If I am looking for a fiancee visa, the VO can have a subjective view point as to whether the relationsip is bonafide or not. Once you are married and have an official marriage certificate, the VO has no wiggling room for a subjective view point! Marriage certicate is one of the most important document in your life. The VO has lots of guts to question that! Does she believe in her own birth certificate? Does believe in her parents marriage marriage certificate? This is like holding you in jail because they found a $100.00 bill in your pocket. There is less than 1% chance that it could be a counterfeit bill. Then they ask you to stay in jail until they find out that it is not a counterfeit $100.00 bill. More over they taking all the time that they want to do their job! I think there should be an Immigration Court right at the USC, GZ, so that we can question the credibility of the VOs working there and have hearing on our case. Ken88 Ken, My dad and mom said I should sue the US Consulate Guangzhou after I told them we got a blue. I laughed and said, "how?" We are powerless against these goons. I went to American Citzen Service to get my documents certified this week and asked who can I complain to regarding the lack of competency of the VO and I was given a white sheet that provided the web address to the Guangzhou website(yea, little good that's going to do me). Who knows what the heck those guys are doing? I don't think anyone audits them and their is no check and balance. The crap they ask for is just a delay tatic in my case. Why they ask if I have family in China is beyond me when they have the Family Composition Sheet on my parent's side. Shrug. I have heard they have denied visa in cases where couples have been married and have children together. That's still ain't bonafide enough. I no longer know what is a bonafide relationship in the eyes of Guangzhou.
  25. Crap shoot? Only a person who has endured a single day of the REAL wait can truly understand the two words "crap shoot". Otherwise, for some, it's "look at how wonderfully I did my paperwork." I'm certain you did your paperwork wonderfully too, Homer, and I wish that was ALL there was to the process. It could happen to anyone, at any time. tsap seui On 06/04/2008 when my wife received her pink, my thoughts were "I did my paperwork wonderfully and was fully prepared for all documents that the VO might have asked and that's why we will be together in the USA on 06/14/2008" On 06/07/2008, when my wife received her blue, my thoughts were, "What the hell did we do wrong? What kind of system is this? It's a random mutherfvcking process where they tortures human soul. You prepare for everything and they don't ask for any of the documents and hand you a blue slip."
