Interview Details

Recommended Posts

First off I would like to thank every one from the CFL community for the education in the process specially dnoblett who is truly the "visa shark" of CFL and seems to have an answer for every question.

Sunday OCT 18th,2 days before the interview and the 15 CNY question:

We had lunch with the family and took some more pictures and gave them out for printing. In the evening I asked Fen to call a taxi so we could go pick them up. I got a lecture on taking a "tax" and spending 15 cny on it. In 15 cny she can have breakfast, lunch and dinner and here I was squandering money. A few minutes later she turns around and say, Huneey since we go out I go to salon to get my hair washed. I gave her the look..........I was not thrilled about spending an hour in the salon!...Oh dont worry huneey it only costs 15 CNY.

Ahhhhh so if I spend 15 cny it is squandering but if you do it it is OK.

The Dress:

Before I got here she had gone out shopping to buy a new dress and shoes for the interview. She even used some kind of a face mask and this is a girl who has no idea how to use makeup.

Honey I said you never did this when I came to see you but you are doing this for th VO? who do you really want to marry?

Needless to say I had no use for my viagra that night.

Monday OCT 19th:

ACS: I had made an appointment for 11:00 AM and I got my EOR and Income letter notraized. This was very quick and the lady there was very friendly and nice.

ACH: I knew I had 2 problems with my case and I explained both these to the VO I spoke with.

1. I own and operate a business because of which I am entitled to a lot of deductions. I had a letter explaining this which I got notrazied in ACS. The VO told me that I should make sure that Fen knows this and to make sure she gives a copy of this to the interviewing VO.

2. I got divorced last year and because of the housing market we have been unable to sell the house. All my official records still use this address even thoug I do not actually live there. I had Fen use my business address as the "address where you will live in the US" as I now share an apartment with a friend. I basically told the VO that I know they look for things that do not add up and I knew this was one of them but there was an explaination for it. She agreed and told me to write a letter explaining this and have Fen give it to the VO weather it was asked for or not.......kind of a preemtive strike.

A lot has been said here on CFL about giving ammunition to the VO to be used against you......but it worked for me to be upfront about the problems I had with my case.

Tuesday OCT 20th "D DAY":

Our interview time was 7:15 we got there about 6AM. She was wearing the new dress which was red......I told her now the VO is definately going to think she is a member of CCP.....I got pinched in a few places.

The pre sceener took all the P4 paperwork and the I134 and the tax papers and asked two questions:

1. are you a memeber of CPP

2. Is you son going with you.

The interview:

Fen gave him the letter I had written about my address situation (as suggested at ACH). He read that over a couple of times.

He asked for passport, pictures and emails.

Fen also gave him my passport, he smiled and asked if I was there.

He asked for the case # and pulled the I134 and tax papers and looked at them.

He thumbed thru the emails and spent a lot of time looking at the pictures and asked her questions about them like who is this, where was this picture taken.

He asked:

How did you meet?

When?

Where does he work?

These questions were asked in Chinese and Fen replied in English.

How you communicte?

This was the only question he asked in english.

And he gave her PINK!

According to Fen two things were very important to the VO: pictures (specially with family) and the tax papers.

The Coffee shop:

After Fen was gone I went to the coffee shop there. I ordered a coffee....55 CNY. I almost choked on it. I also found out that this price is only for the first drink you order, every other drink you order is only 5 cny.

Smile is worth a million words:

I was a nervous wreck waiting for Fen to come back down. The wait gets to a point where you dont care if it is pink, blue or white; you just want it done and over with.

Fen came down at about 10:30AM and as soon as she saw me a big smile lit up her face and I knew she had the pink.

In closing

If you can be there for the interview please please go........If not anything it gives your SO confidence.

If you have any concerns go to ACH..........they really do help you.

One of the things I did with Fen since I got here on Saturday was to tell her it did not matter what happens at the interview. If she did not get the visa now she would get it eventually. I was going to be with her if she got the visa now or a year from now. It was just a matter of time. I think this definately helped her relax.

Ok friends now I am going to pop that pill to see if something else I have can turn RED.
