Patrick & Li
My wife is here on K-3 visa. We have applied for AOS and EAD. We are trying to get my wife a drivers permit. We have every piece of documentation except for "proof of residency". This requires something that has her address on it with her name also. Has anybody had any success with this? bald guy
Patrick, Does Li have a bank account, or do you both have a joint account? that would be perfect for "proof of residency". Link to comment
warpedbored
I suppose it differs from state to state but all Bing and I needed was some mail postmarked and addressed to her. We used the envelope her social security card came in. Link to comment
olemanoman1950
Put her name on the Gas and Electric Bill. Link to comment
ndjarrett
Does it HAVE to be that? In Iowa I just need to show our marriage certificate and a bill with MY name on it. Link to comment
keelec
As Carl mentioned. Mail is generally accepted as proof of residence in Oregon. I don't think they ever specified what kind of mail is required. Perhaps you could just have a friend or co-worker send a card to your wife. Don't you have any receipts or other correspondence from the INS sent to your house? ---- Clifford ----- Link to comment
tywy_99
I solved that problem real quick. I bought my wife a house with some land!...lol. No one can argue with a deed and title in hand showing her name and the address! I added my wife to the auto insurance. I also got her a credit card. A week or so after that, junk mail delivered by the postman had her name all over it! We have more than enough to prove her residence just by junkmail alone! But the very first thing that had her name and address on it was a doctor's bill. That came in handy to prove her residence early on. Link to comment

But they do not need a bill with her name on it. They will accept our marriage cert and a bill with my name & address. Link to comment
