Greg.D.
Don't know if you were joking about North Korea (I'll bet a quarter you were) - but there could be a travel ban on Americans to NK by then. Don't know that selfies with Il Fatty will help you demonstrate a bonafide relationship! 1 Link to comment
Randy W
I checked on flights to Dandong from my city. They are available but the flights are 61 hours with long lay overs with the return trip almost as bad. I going to check on what Thomas said doing. Fly into a major city like Shanghai then book a flight from there to Dandong.Has anyone ever been or know of a person who has been to Dandong? When we meet she wishes for me to stay at her home. Then travel to some other cities. Maybe go to North Korea. You may just find the same thing you already found out. Link to comment
MikeandRong
If you really do plan to arrive for National Holiday stick with your original plan, as it will be extremely busy with travelers. Let her meet you as planned at the airport and it will work out just fine. I would not suggest a first timer arriving on Holiday and trying to navigate the filled to capicity transportation systems there. 1 Link to comment
Thomas Promise
I would definitely register with the State Department before you go there.I have done it every time I went to China. Also call the State Department and ask them their opinion for American travelers there. It is on the border with No Korea and more the likely there are 1,000s of Korean workers there working and living there. Technically Korea is still at war with the US. You don't want wander into nest of these guys.Ask your GF about these people. She should be able to provide much info about them. https://step.state.gov/step/pages/common/citizenship.aspx 1 Link to comment

Randy W
Tom, somehow you keep picking up extra characters at the end of links step.state.gov/step/pages/common/citizenship.aspx%C2%A0 - instead of - step.state.gov/step/pages/common/citizenship.aspx %C2%A0 is a non-breaking space, or   Link to comment
