Randy W
In the past, the Forbidden City hosted not only residential palaces for the royal family, but also many facilities to meet their religious needs. Like ordinary people, the royal family also celebrated festivals and birthdays and worshiped ancestors, and gods. As many as 40 independent Buddhist and Taoist temples can be found in the Forbidden City alongside many religious altars and ritual instruments. Historical archives shine light on the daily routines of emperors such as which temple they visited and which god and Buddha they worshipped, providing a glimpse of their joy, anger, sorrow, and beliefs. from China Pictorial on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ChinaPic/posts/4203912693067421 Link to comment

Randy W
[#chinacultualtourism] The Longji Rice Terraces (龙脊梯田)in Longsheng County(龙胜) #Guangxi are regarded as one of the most beautiful rice terraces in the world. In October, the terraced rice fields turn golden yellow, rendering the color of autumn, just like the palette of nature. The Ping'an Rice #Terraces, which have a lower elevation and have been developed earlier, are the scenic spot for most tour groups to visit, while the Jinkeng Rice Terraces, which are higher in elevation with more spectacular #scenery, attract photography enthusiasts and foreign travelers most. from Splendors of Guangxi on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/splendorsofguangxi/posts/655564179164106 Link to comment

Randy W
In September, a rare wildflower — the Monotropa uniflora, or Ghost Pipe — was found in Yintiaoling National Nature Reserve in Chongqing's Wuxi county, according to its management service center earlier this month. The white herbaceous perennial plant, with a straight stem and pendant (downwardly pointed) flower, grows up to about 10 centimeters in height. Unlike ordinary plants, it has no chlorophyll; therefore, it has no photosynthesis process for growth. Instead, it grows in moist, shaded forests by absorbing nutrients provided by rotting leaves. It is also known as #ghostplant or #IndianPipe. #biodiversity from China Pictorial on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ChinaPic/posts/4255886427870047 Link to comment
