Buying Western Groceries in Nanning

Shopping at a Chinese grocery can be startling. Is that vacuum-wrapped chicken feet? Sometimes olive oil just seems necessary. When you’re hit with a desire for crusty French bread, head to one of Nanning’s Western groceries.

Before buying make sure you check the expiration dates!!!

Good to know. Randy has posted some stuff that makes me feel better too. I may wind up there some year. My wife is from down there, and we are leaving the door open.

 

What I want is some smoked, sliced bacon. I got some bacon up in Changzhou, but they had no machine to thin slice it. The lady did the best she could, but then it had no flavor.

We buy bacon at this shop also. It's a wholesale, bulk-only store.

Our import shop on Hangzhou St. in Nanning - most of the food is in some giant walk-through freezers around the shops

It is so good to have a picture of the store, so one can actually find it.

 

A band saw, or fancy saber saw, is better than nothing. I seem to think that I actually found a normal meat slicer like we have in the USA somewhere. They didn't have bacon.
