I got this message today and this looks really interesting to see China beyond the tourist traps.

 

Check out this new series of travel guides with a focus on ancient China. The site covers all of China and you can browse by region. Some amazing, beautiful off the beaten track villages and towns there, many of them are now accessible by high-speed rail. Not yet, my card is not set up yet. I did see one on Amazon for $23. The three guides look really good for those of us wanting to see inside China.

 

The "e-version" is only $12.95, but I haven't seen where it says what format it's in
