lou
First off, hope all are doing well!Haven't been on the site for a while, me working days and Guichun working nightswith now a 4 year old, computer time is rare. This is life! To make a long story short, we filed Guichun's N-400 in Jan. Interview set for 4-10-12.Back in Jan. took our passports, red books and her permanent res. card to work to copyfor the app. took everything back home, Guichun keeps her passport and card separatebecause of her travels and she has them right where she keeps them. We can't seem tofind my passport or the marrage books! I don't care about my passport, I'm worried about the marrage books! We have many copiescertified in Chinese and English and I want to know if they will accept them when we go to theinterview. As always,Thanks again!! Link to comment

dnoblett
Thank you! I can rest better now. do you think I should call USCIS or just go to the interview?I would just take them to interview, if from China should be one of those bound white books, and will be acceptable. My wife and I married in the USA, the office gave us an original and 2 certified copies, all were acceptable. A certified copy is considered to be as good as an original document. Link to comment
lou
Well, seems my wife found all of the documents! After 2 weeks of "You lost them!" all I could dois smile . Then we both had a good laugh. Her interview is tomorrow, Any last minute advice? We have all the paperwork and she knows thequestions inside and out. I'm just not sure what to expect tomorrow, I think I'm more nervous thenshe is at this point. Link to comment
dnoblett
That interview is painless, just answer questions honestly, my wife had no issues at all, said the interviewer did not smile, kind of overly serious, "Just The Facts" kind of person. Link to comment
lou
Well she had the inteview on the 10th and passed!Got there at 9 and we were out by 1 including the oath ceremony, not too bad. It did get interesting though, we waited around 1 hr. before she was called. I think therewere 6 interviewers that day, Guichun commented that when they were calling the next personin over the PA system, that they all speak very slow and very clear! Except one man who had avery heavy accent. Not for me mind you, I understood him fine,my wife had no idea what he was sayingeverytime he was at the window . So, I KNOW what is going to happen, and I just smile. She wants to know why I'm smiling, and I just tellher to relax. Sure enough, the man with the accent calls her name and she didn't even hear it! When I giveher a nudge to tell her, the jaw drops and the fun starts. She's in there twice as long as everyone else so now I'm getting nervous! Turned out ok, They talked for abit, went over the paperwork, she's still too nervous and can't relax! 1st civics question, she takes a guess because she couldn't understand him, she got it wrong. After that, I think my wife had control. Told him to slow down and made him repeat every otherquestion about 3 times till she could understand, then she got 6 in a row. My wife didn't even know she passed, the interviewer gave her a hard time with her signatureon her passport photos, made her do it 3 times, and also on other documents. Then gave her a BIG hug and congratulations at the end. Talking about it afterword, she said he was one of the most serious but had the most patienceof anyone she as ever seen Link to comment
